Learn to Draw for the Absolute Beginner
If you have always wanted to start drawing, this book is an excellent introduction, actually it is a tutorial that shows in great detail how to proceed: You learn what physical exercises will make your hand and arm "lighter", how to grip a pencil properly and how to use its tip and side, how you warm up for drawing. Next is sketching the drawing. You learn how to use sticks and shapes for the creation of fast cartoons, and how to detail your drawing by applying design, texture and shadows, smudging and layering. All instructions are well explained and illustrated, so it is easy to get started with your own drawings.

Complete Course for the Beginning Sketcher
Apart from the choppy grammar, I, a beginner intend to make this book a text , along with some other books that suggest simple subjects, assigning a chapter at time to process in my drawing ability.

ABSOLUTE Beginners
I purchased this book in the hopes of developing skills I haven't used since grade school. I haven't started in the book yet, but after having skimmed through, it seems to take everything in baby steps from the assumption that you have no artistic talent at all. This is a good thing because it will allow for all skill levels to build a basis for better understanding in art as it pertains to drawing, as well as a strong foundation for more advanced techniques later on. I recommend this book to anyone looking to sharpen their skills, but especially to those just starting out.

good start!
Does a good job of the needed finishing touches. Doesn't give sufficient material on initial forms that will be developed into the final object.

Not worth buying!
The author is functional illiterate. Most (if, indeed, not all) of his sentences are fractured, too often to the level of this reader not being completely sure of his meaning. The pictures are too small for details to show on my Kindle Fire. I often had to use a magnifying glass and that usually was insufficient. The concepts he explained were usually understandable to me, but too many would not be clear to a true beginner. I realized that I often was grateful to another book I had read that gave me a clearer understanding of what this author was trying to say. I would recommend not buying this book whatever your level (or lack of any level) you are in at this time.I would recommend the book "You Can Draw in 30 Days: The Fun, Easy Way to Learn to Draw in One Month or Less" by Mark Kistler. You can order it here on Amazon.com.

Anyone Can Learn Reading This Book
Really impressed with this book. Not only are the descriptions easy to follow but there are step by step drawings so that you can see what the writer is explaining. Reading and visual exposure is the best way to learning a new skill. There were a number of different shapes, ideas, techniques and skills to allow a beginner to come up with something quite artistic in just a short while. The book would suit anyone old enough to read the instructions and upwards. I would even go so far as to say that someone who is not a complete beginner would learn from this book because they may learn techniques that they may not have tried at that point.Would highly recommend.

It's very useful for me
I'm a beginner and need to fill in some gaps on my knowledge of drawing in general and particularly in shading and proportions. This book has been more useful than the others I've looked at. I purchased 2 of their other books since getting this one. There's something good in each of them, and it is presented in a way that I can understand and easily follow.

Great tutelage
This is the kind of book I need aT the moment. It clear and explicit and I really have learned a lot. The only problem is the length of the book. I would rather pay a little extra and receive more information.

Not very helpful
I'd recommend "how to draw in 30 days" instead. Much more fun and it is much easier to follow. It contains step by step instructions that this book doesn't. Honestly, it didn't help me much.

Excellent product
This book is exactly as described. I gave it to my eight year old grandaughter, and she sat down and drew for two hours with surprisingly good results.I recommend this book for all ages.
