PRODUCT IS PERFECT
Product is fantastic we’ve been using them for years 10+ actually. He’s 22yro with trach, on vent and the “peroximint” solution is the best thing for breaking down thick dried secretions on his teeth gums and lips. It’s critical for him that anything going into his mouth that has moisture be connected to suction simultaneously. He doesn’t swallow well and the liquid can be aspirated easily causing pneumonia. We are in the hospital IMC/ICU ALL the time for vent squired pneumonia and other issues related to his many complex medical needs. We’ve actually spent half a year each year since 2017 hospitalized. The hospitals have this mouth cleaning system kid they’re supposed to use on him (all vent patients) that kills bacteria in the mouth. It sucks! I hate it. We always end up taking some of these in with us. Their kits contain an angled sponge suction wand similar to these. They are HALYARD brand and here’s why hate them. The sponge in the Halyard simply attaches to the plastic “straw”/yanquer and sits flush with the end of the plastic “suction end.” These are not soft and flexible like silicone they are hard plastic. That tip opening in the middle of the sponge swab is the ONLY place that debris or liquid can be suctioned thru. So when you are scrubbing using the sponge part, as is required sometimes, the end of the suction tip scratches the tongue, gums, roof of mouth which then causes bleeding etc. THESE SAGE suction swabs wrap around the end of the suction tip. Completely covering the plastic parts underneath preventing these issues. Also it’s able to do that because the sides under the sponge have little openings (sponge has correlated ones as well) where debris liquid is suctioned up thru. It’s a simple concept that Halyard hasn’t grasped yet and they’re very expensive system could easily cover the cost of an entire bag of these Sage suction swabs. I do wish that Sage also sold individually wrapped versions of these without any cleaning agent at all. We have to apply Biotene after mouth cleaning which is a liquid although slightly thicker than water. As I said nothing goes in his mouth that isn’t attached to suction. So we end up opening a set of these and trashing the cleaning solution so we can soak the sponge and apply the Biotene in his mouth on tongue etc to help keep his mouth moist.

Best Suction Foam Brush!
A family member had recently become bed-ridden (minimally vegetative) and am tasked with the responsibility of nursing at home because of the widespread outbreaks at nursing homes and hospitals in our area. While remaining autonomic (breathing, swallowing, coughing naturally), a trach was required for supplemental oxygen and the inability to move freely makes oral care challenging.Previously, I had been using the foam swabs (lollipops) with dentrifice coating but with the recent development of the inevitable c. albicans (thrush), I had to resort to using an electric toothbrush with diluted toothpaste and fluoride rinse for oral care and it was causing the gums to bleed. I had seen hospital staff use these Toothette Suction Swabs during observation in ICU, and thought maybe I'd need an Rx to purchase them as with many medical supplies, but to my surprise I found them here on Amazon and they make my already busy and overwhelming days so much easier. In summary: - the foam swab tip provides ample cushioning to prevent grazing against sensitive oral cavity tissue - there are two holes in each side that suction liquid/secretions -- suctioning power is strong and leaves mouth free of secretions/debris - the handle/shaft is angled for easier reach into the upper, lower and sides of the oral cavity and behind teeth - the swabs fit into the standard suctioning lines used at home and at hospitals worldwide - the peroxide solution is strong enough for debriding/disinfecting the oral cavity but gentle enough for 2x daily use - each packet comes with 2 Toothettes: one I use for cleaning/scrubbing, then the other for rinsing/suctioning out any residual debris for a complete mouth clean - the foam tip is sufficiently textured with ridges to gently scrape the entire tongue clean of annoying yeast like c. albicans or other plaques on the teeth and tongue - makes post vomit cleanup a breeze and simultaneously restores pH with its sodium bicarbonate treated swab and peroxide solution -- this should be done immediately after vomiting to reduce/prevent tooth decay - restores fresh breath!I could not recommend anything better after using this system and I believe its daily use in the nursing regimen contributes to overall health. I see an improvement in overall gastrointestinal health and having a clean mouth also promotes improved respiratory condition especially for patients who aspirate and have odorous trachs. If you are nursing your loved one at home, be sure to stock up on these and save more with a monthly subscription -- it'll make life easier for the patient and the caregiver!Update 11/08/2021: I had the item on auto-delivery (100ct / $93.99) but when I checked the upcoming order for this month, the product count has been reduced from 100 to 50ct / $93.99 -- the same price. Very shady! The seller is Healing Easier, not Sage. There is no explanation for this. -1 star for the price confusion.

Great
I had a problem with these at first and originally gave them 1 star for quality. I was finally able to contact someone from the company to help me. Customer service was great and helped me get things straightened out. When I got a new order, they are fantastic so I’m changing my review.

Great after hospital stay
After 2 weeks in the hospital, my son was very weak , so we used these to clean his teeth and mouth. Very effective. The suction really helps to reduce the risk of aspiration

Great product for geriatric patients health
Use this product for my brother, his condition requires the need for this product. I have used in hospital and nursing setting. I just would appreciate the full amount of the product purchased as this is clearly visible the container does not contain the product.

Too costly
I can't understand why I had to pay twice as much for the same amount of sponges I bought the last time. The product is great though.

it really is a box of 50 packets (with 2 swabs per pack)
This item is advertised as a 100 packs but in reality it is a 50 packs at 2 swabs per packet equaling 100 swabs.Quality of item is good. I feel it is a bit expensive and amount is misleading in description.it should read 50 packets with 2 swabs per packet.Thank you :)
