Under the glow of a full moon, a sadistic murder is committed on Nordkoster Island: a young pregnant woman is buried in the sand and slowly drowns as the tide rises. 25 years later, the case remains unsolved. Rookie police officer Olivia Rönning gets assigned to it during training and becomes obsessed when she discovers that her father, who died years prior, worked on the original investigation. She knows she has to find the lead investigator and begins a dogged search for former detetective, Tom Stilton. Her biggest obstacle is the fact that he's homeless and wants nothing to do with his old life. Their unlikely friendship brings them closer to solving the Beach Case, but what they discover has unimaginable consequences for Olivia.

A sleeper. If you like mysteries and good story telling, you'll love it
Warning. This is in Swedish. If you don't speak Swedish, you'll be reading this story! That said, it's a great story! When I first realized it wasn't in English, I put off starting it, figuring it was going to be more work than it was worth. Once I started it, "I couldn't put it down". The story if full of interesting characters that all seem to moving in different directions, only to end up in the same place. The plot takes so many turns that if it wasn't so well written, it would probably become disappointing. The ending is the biggest twist of all. Oddly, it was telegraphed at the very beginning. But that only becomes obvious in hind-sight.Good acting. Great story. Good writing. And, if you haven't traveled Scandinavia, really interesting scenery.Well worth the trip.

Not terrible, but not great.
This is definitely not among the best Nordic series. The biggest problems are in the script and the whole concept, rather than with the acting, which is fine. There are plot holes big enough to drive a truck through, and major subplots left completely unresolved at the end of the series.

Good not great, too long
I love Scandinavian TV in general, especially crime/mysteries but this 10-part series really dragged at times. I think the story could have been told in 4-5 episodes with no loss of quality. It's funny but when I watched The Bridge the story stuck with me for a long time afterwards but here I waited a few weeks to post a review and I can barely remember the story. I just remember it seemed to take an excessively long time to tell the tale. The production is of high quality, the actors quite capable, the lead actress very attractive and "easy on the eyes"; in short, the whole package is worthwhile. I do recommend watching it. Just overall too long IMO.

Good story
I love all the scandi noir mini series. This one comes from Sweden and is about a cold case. A young rookie police girl is very much hooked on her home work given by the teacher at the academy, especially after she discovers her dad was the police officer on that cold case. It becomes her obsession but some (bad) people have no interest she finds out what happened 25 years ago on that beach and it becomes quite a dangerous assignment for her. Good actors, beautiful country (a small Swedish island), I recommend this mini serie which of course has to be watched in Swedish.

Mystery that eludes you
I have never watched a bad Swedish or Danish movie and this was no exception. Fantastic story line, twists and turns and unexpected ending. Characters were well played and although the start off was slow - it picked up and you just want to keep watching. Well worth the money!!There was one mystery that I felt was never solved but quite possibly it was just a minor tie in. Either way, it did not deter from the movie.

This DVD is not a 5 - It's a 10!
What an amazing production this is - from the skilled writers, photographers and very talented actors - what a first rate show this is. We haven't stayed up to see midnight in 30 years and last night was the exception. We could not turn off the DVD until we saw it to its conclusion. Brilliantly done and we're pretty good at 'whodunit's" but we would never have guessed these endings. Can't wait for a second season of this magnificent show. Gotta hand it to the Swedes - they're the best when it comes to mysteries/murder/crime. Don't miss it!

Great Swedish Detective Series
I love Scandi Noir. I This one is different because the heroine is a police academy student who befriends a homeless man. Together they help solve a long standing Homicide cold case. I won't go more into the plot but just to say there are a lot of twists and turns and a surprise ending, for good or for ill... I very much enjoyed the supporting cast. What a bunch of characters!

unusual Swedish mystery
another great Swedish mystery series. The chief investigators are unusual characters - the young daughter of a deceased detective is working on his cold case along with his partner who is now homeless. Looking forward to season 2!
