I loved giving this to a friend who is a world traveler. It is a beautiful wall piece- colorful and decorative, and an interactive way for families to reflect on their travels!

My biggest concern was the gold flaking off to easily with my 4 kids all over this to scratch off their countries. The opposite was true, it was quite the adventure to figure out what tools were best, but hands down just go straight to using a smashed penny. Yep the souvenir kind! We put it up in a huge frame and it's been perfect for our needs. We'll finish up our world tour in the US and we're excited to get the US map in this size!

It is a beautiful map straight out of the container. I used the included guitar pick to scratch off the countries I've traveled too and while it did work, it was difficult to be precise especially in tight places. My intention was to frame and hang it over the fireplace mantel. I bought a 36x24 pre-made frame from Michael's thinking I could remove the glass, slip in map and put the glass back in behind it (to allow future scratch off). Unfortunately the glass was glued to the frame and I was afraid of breaking it so I did my best to slip the map in the frame from the front. This caused some wrinkling in the map, which is very noticeable in the daylight or when lights are on due to the high gloss finish. In hindsight I would have been better off mounting the map on something and hanging it frameless. Another option is professional framing. Michael's quoted me something like $175.

Looks beautiful, but it's really difficult to scratch the countries off. I was so excited to receive it, it's now been weeks and I haven't finished scratching because it's so hard.

This map comes with a pic to scratch off the locations, which doesn’t work very well. We had to use a paper clip.

This map looks great and is nice quality, however as some other reviewers have said, it's incredibly difficult to scratch off. It comes with a 'scratcher' (just a glorified plastic guitar pick), but I could barely get anything scratched off with it and it's already started to peel after 30 minutes of use. I resorted to using my ID, which kind of works, but also pulls up some of the plastic coating. All in all I'm happy with it, but the creators should consider how to make it more functional/easy to scratch off.
