Smooth Seductive Funk
Most (if not all) of the great R&B/Soul bands of the 1970's used some form of conceptualism when making an album - from the music itself to the package that covered it. The Ohio Players had a formula that worked to perfection - Make a album of smoldering funk, smooth ballads, and jazz-influenced jam sessions and package it with a sexy nude model on the cover representing the theme of the album - in this case, HONEY.This is the classic album that gave us the #1 hit, "Love Rollercoaster" and the ultra-smooth "Sweet Sticky Thing", but this is one of those CD's you can enjoy without skipping a track. The album opens with the BEAUTIFULLY orchestrated title track then goes into the rock-riffed "Fopp" with its outrageous lyrics ("Fopp me right/Don't you fopp me wrong/We'll be here foppin' all night long!"). "Let's Love" is a smooth romantic jam with an irreststible hook. The 1 1/2 minute "Ain't Givin' Up No Ground" is just a quick peek into an Ohio Players jam session. The album closes with the stripped-down, passionate ballad "Alone". This is Sugarfoot's finest moment on the mic.Even though nude models graced every Ohio Players album cover, they only made me think of the great music inside the cover.T.W.

Awesome follow up to Fire.....
I can recall hearing this album at my neighbor's home! Tiny Neal had all the latest albums. I was just around 9 years of age upon this release. The follow up to fire was anticipated & it stimulated! Controversy behind the scream in the beginning of Love Roller Coaster. To generate sells obviously but wasn't needed! The song was strong enough to go #1 anyway. The point was & is insignificant but true. RIP to Satchel, Leroy Sugarfoot Bonner & Pee Wee....Great album must pick up! Brings back memories at the Neal's home listening as a child...Thanks Tiny for the songs & cookies!

Sweet surround sound mixing
Received this dvd-audio along with Fire dvd-audio from the Ohio Players and I can only say that is is, along with Fire how a music surround mix should be. Not overdone or boomy with bass like alot of todays music. But don't despair, there is enough bass, especially on tunes like Fopp. I like most of the songs here, one or two I can do without but this review is about the quality of the mix, which is to say the least exxcellent! A must have to show off your system, if it can handle it. :)

Great cd. I'm an Ohio Player fan from way back. I have this cd on 33 l.p., I heard it being played on WHUR in DC, and remembered how much I used to like it!

Sexy 70s Funk
I originally bought this album on vinyl in the 70s. Still a classic funk album. The stand out tracks are Sweet Sticky Thing and Love Rollercoaster. Possibly their best album and it has improved with age. Some of the other five tracks that I once found a little strange seem more accessible now.
