As an ordained Christian minister, Anna, with authorization from her Tai Chi Master, developed a way of integrating the classical Chinese movements and archetypal nature imagery with a Genesis creation story narrative that is inspiring for those of any faith. Review New Creation Tai Chi-Qigong has several features that make it unique among other videos in this genre. Certified teacher Anna York not only knows the art but also her audience of seniors and people with disabilities. She has an inside-out knowledge of how the classical Chinese practice can help heal very serious conditions, including multiple sclerosis, a disease she has had since the age of 19. In her book, entitled Rising UP!, she describes the story of coming to Tai Chi class with a severe disability and the path of her healing progress over a period of years as she gradually returns to an active life. Anna has experienced how important it is to have accessible exercise with expert instruction and compassionate guidance. She fills the bill on all counts. The classroom format of New Creation Tai Chi-Qigong is a powerful teaching approach, making the audience part of a group of real people, doing the exercises in real time. There is a feeling of encouragement, hope and creativity in doing the exercises along with other people who are adapting them to meet their own needs. While many videos and teachers claim their approach is accessible for those of all abilities, it is rare for those with disabilities to actually be participants in such a substantial portion of the instruction. New Creation Class members are active seniors, some of whom have MS, Parkinsons, arthritis and stroke. They convey their enthusiasm for the art and for sharing it with others. York understands from her own experience and from the many people she works with that healing involves the whole person, body, mind and spirit. Tai Chi and Qigong are most often taught from a Taoist or Eastern perspective that is good for many but foreign and uncomfortable for those who want to stay within their own philosophical and spiritual traditions. As an ordained Christian minister, Anna developed a way of integrating the classical Chinese movements and archetypal nature imagery with a Genesis creation story narrative that is uplifting for those of any faith. York is an inspiring teacher who offers an innovative approach for making these Chinese arts accessible to a much wider range of people who need their healing benefits. --Rising UP! Inc.

Great for beginners!
I am 64 years old, overweight and not accustomed to regular exercise. I thought this would be a good beginning for me. TheDVD consists of a lot of stretching up and stretching down. I guess stretching places I had not stretched for some time so the exercises or movements were not as easy as I thought they would be. It all depends how limber you are when you start. It is only 15 minutes a day of guided movements. You can always do more. The instructor works on stretching and balance. It is not a super slick video and she references God as the creator of the earth, sun, moon etc., which I liked because I am a Christian and I didn't really want a lot of Eastern philosophy in my exercise video. I know that Tai Chi and Qigong are Eastern in origin but I needed the graceful movements that work on core and balance and most other videos are too jerky or jumpy and my joints cannot take that at this time. After a week I was feeling more energized and could pick up things that fell on the floor easily. My range of motion has improved and balance has also improved. I was very pleased with the results and for getting started on any exercise plan you want to be consistent and with this you can. You are not wiped out after the first session having to recover for a few days before you get at it again.

Not clear that this is a christian faith-based take on qi gong
More needs to be said about this DVD regarding the religious focus.I'm sure Anna York is an effective teacher, and has clearly benefitted from her take on qi gong exercise and incorporating her particular faith. From the reviews, it is clear that many people appreciate this CD - as well they should. But this is a christian religion-based take on qi gong exercise and that needs to be made clear from the beginning. This makes it unsuitable for anyone who is not of the Christian faith. Also - the constant camera adjusting - zooming in, zooming out - needs to be dealt with. That makes it hard to watch as an instructional video.

Love this video!
This is my first real experience with this type of exercise, but now it is a something I look forward to on a regular basis, and I don't even have to leave home to do it! I really appreciate Anna's clear descriptions of the all of the movements, so it is easy for me to follow along. The music and her calm voice help to make this a relaxing experience as well as beneficial exercise. The beautiful and serene landscape pictures with Anna exercising are also helpful for me in seeing each move individually, thus helping me improve my technique. The video is easy to navigate through, so I can practice more on different areas of need.I appreciated seeing people participating in ways that are appropriate for their physical capabilities--sitting or standing. I can definitely see the benefits for people with a variety of disabilities, and although I'm not disabled--just getting older!-- these exercises are really helping to loosen my muscles, give me more flexibility and balance as well as allowing me time for quiet meditation! I have purchased several additional copies to give to friends who will also benefit by following along with the video.Anna's personal journey through MS to healing is quite amazing. Her book, Rising Up, was also inspiring to me, and I would recommend it as a companion to this video. You will then be able to appreciate how amazing it is that Anna has come so far herself by using this kind of exercise and anticipate your own success!

Mixed feelings for this DVD
I have mixed feelings about this dvd. The Qigong exercise/movements are excellent and helpful.Unfortunately the dvd production values are poor. Sound is difficult to hear and the photography is substandard. The viewer is often unable to see the movement being taught as the camera view is too close or off center.Another difficulty comes from the instructor failing to inform when a chair is needed for a particular exercise. Not sure if I can recommend as other Qigong dvds are better.

very easy to understand
I thought this dvd was very easy to understand, but at the same I felt like I was really getting a good stretching and balancing workout. I am going to purchase one for my mother, who has fibromyalgia, and I have MS. The only thing disappointing about it was that the actual dvd appeared scratched up when I got it, and there is one section that won't play on my dvd player. For the price, I guess it was still a good deal and I just skip over that part.

You won't be disappointed!
I love this DVD and would suggest it to all ages.I have to admit I was skeptical when I first made my purchase as I am younger than the group shown on the front and wondered if it would benefit me. I do however suffer from pain and popping in my joints and was hopeful that it would give gentle healing and strength. I am 51 and do this DVD 3 times a week with my son who is in his late 20's who has back pain. We both love it!After your 15 min. session you immediately feel like a gentle blood flow / awakening to your body. The next day you can feel lessoning of pain. Within 3 uses my joints popped much less. My son said while he was at work he noticed less back pain and he was able to walk with a more straightened back....I just love it and would suggest it to all ages. In the video there are people of all ages just not seniors. We however do 2 sessions of 15 min. rather than just one. It seems to work better for us.

You are getting your money worth, not much
I try not to buy items that are less costly, because sometimes saving money means poor quality. In this case it is money down the drain. The video itself is grainy. While filming the video someone in charge of the camera was constantly zooming in and out, making minor adjustments, and all of them making noises. The speaker never stops talking as she tells you to let everything go out of you thoughts. Also, is God really associated with Tai Chi? I do not recommend this video. I will be returning it.

I think the CD would be great for a beginning exerciser
I think the CD would be great for a beginning exerciser, but the start of it seems really slow. Thru an error, I ordered two and had to return one. So sorry.
