Seagate BarraCuda 1 TB Internal Hard Drive HDD – 3.5 Inch SATA 6 Gb/s, 7,200 RPM, 64 MB Cache for Computer Desktop PC (ST1000LM048)

Anyone looking to buy a laptop sized hard drive, Presumably has the skills and familiarity of their device to make the installation themselves, This device does not add any unexpected steps to the installation, which is precisely what I would have wanted. I am always cautions when it comes to ordering internal hardware like this, that my product will come DOA - Dead on Arrival, and was pleased to have no issues on this occasion, I think SeaGate must have a pretty strong Quality assurance program, and the packaging was not over the top, but did keep the drive secure. This isn't a performance hard drive; that has tons of storage. it's a low cost and efficient hard drive. That said I am using this hard drive for gaming, and it has pretty much exceeded expectation. Downgrading from a 7200 RPM hard drive, I was pleasantly surprised, and confused to see Faster Reading and Writing speeds on this Drive, (Granted I was replacing the 7200 rpm Hard drive because of Multiple failures, so likely it's performance had dipped below it's standard), This drive can consistently read and write on my PC up to 90 Mbps or 10 MB/ps. I have experienced occasional stutters in disk intensive games with this hard drive, but nothing that I wouldn't have come to expect at its price point. When downloading The drive can become over-burdened upon exceeding that speed. Steam users should Limit their download speed to 10 MB to avoid that, as ultimately it will result in Longer installation times to over burden the drive. If you have Fiber Internet want expect to be able to install full size games in minutes, You should invest in an SSD, but from my perspective this disk writes only slightly slower than my maximum downloading speeds, so It fits my circumstance like a glove. I do not use this drive for an operating system, I imagine if I did it would work as well as you would expect a HDD to.

Okay.. I was skeptical to buy this 2TB for 75$ For my slim PS4 because the price is too good to be true. Also I haven’t changed hard drives at all, but with a help of a YouTube video to install step by step. It took me 15mins to do. Plus downloading the “FULL FIRMWARE” on PlayStation’s site. Now downloading my games from the PlayStation Plus and the saved data is going to take some hours to do. In the end, I was surprised to have taken my PS4 from 500GB to 2TB of space! The Seagate 2TB was formatted for to 1.77 TB. I’m not going to complain or anything because I did just have 500GB and I always had to delete and download new games in order to play, but now I can put multiple games at the same time and play! Awesome buy! If you are looking to increase your PS4 storage for more game plays or if you waiting to buy the PS5 (like me and buy in 2021 summer perhaps) and you want to enjoy your PS4 a little more then buy this HD! You won’t miss out! In a way it’s better to play 80$ for a HD than on 500$ for a PS5 right now. Cheers!

I ordered this HDD twice, for me and for my family member. My first one was a combined order (HDD + some other items from Amazon) and that time I was seriously dissatisfied with the packaging: the box was all crumpled due to delivery by couriers and wasn't the right size - a little box with the HDD was moving free in it. There was very little protection. But, thank God, everything was okay with the HDD itself. In my second time I ordered an HDD only and found it lying in a postal package without any box at all! Really not sure that you can call it a "Frustration free packaging". What about HDD itself. I bought this drive as an additional HDD for a laptop Dell Inspiron 3511 that has inside by default an SSD only. This model is very upgradable, so installing an additional hard drive isn't difficult even for those who has never disassembled a laptops before (like myself, for example)). The HDD fit perfectly into the SATA-slot and immediately showed up in BIOS and Device Manager. But I need to say that just after installation my laptop has made several attempts to turn on, which scared me a little, but eventually he did turn on successfully and after that worked without problems. In "This PC" folder it wasn't visible at first - to make it appear I was needed to visit the Disk Management section and to do several standard and simple actions: initialization, creating volume and formatting (detailed instruction is easy to find on the Internet). The actual 1 TB HDD size is 931.51 GB. Moving a few apps from my SSD to this HDD with "Free Move" program went smoothly, as well as a creating my OS backup on this drive. I can’t call it silent, but also I can’t say that the sounds it makes somehow interfere or annoy. I've been using this HDD on my laptop for a year already and no problems or defects have been identified during this time.

would recommend to do if you have an old ps3 and want more storage space. does plenty to saturate the older sata2 connection the ps3 uses, and if you are concerned to speeds for this case, and wanna go use sata, i mean go ahead i guess and waste money? it won't be faster than just using this. install is based on use by use basis, for the ps3 it's mostly as easy as it gets, one screw and a cover in most cases. for a laptop, you might a similar install. but in some cases, like an old macbook, you need to take off the whole rear shell to get to it, but it's a bog standard, reliable, HDD compatible with the smaller 2.5 inch sata size standard. would recommend if you need it for anything that fits this scenario. tho for HDDs, outside of sata2 into the realm of sata 3, i'd recommend something like a sata ssd for 1tb, costs more, but a good one from a good company will give you better speeds and more responsiveness. personally i use a bunch of 4tb hdd's with a mix of 1tbs sata ssd and m.2 ssds within my computer, but all in all, depends on a case by case basis.

Slowest hard drive you could ever get. But will store files if you need the space. It is cheap so there is that!

Arrived early than expected which was great. Working well in Eufy Homebase 3. I did buy a 40mm usb fan to keep the hard-drive cool in the Eufy Homebase 3 (see picture). Hopefully the hard-drive will work forever & a day, meaning a long time. 😉

I recently purchased an HP Pavilion 1650 gaming laptop and was trying to look for a good hard drive so I can play more games because the internal memory on the desktop is only 3GB so I called around and ask questions and apparently this is the best hard drive you can get for this particular model it wasn't easy install all I had to do was format the hard drive and I was good to go all my games load extremely fast no need for an s s d you can even put this on your Xbox or if you use an external hard drive for an Xbox upgrade that with this a very great product

Lots of storage capacity, small form factor (laptop), quiet, fast, easy to install, easy to initialize and load backup image, very competitively priced, arrived within 2 days, well packaged from factory - not a counterfeit. At first, I was concerned about the 5200 RPM rating vs the 7200 RPM I normally use. However, this drive uses a feature called "smart-technology" that somehow buffers to speed things up. Drive was every bit as fast as my previous 1TB 7200 RPM that it replaced. Very pleased with drive and ability to double my storage capacity w/o loss in performance. Highly recommended...
