Very nice microscope
I bought this at the recommendation of a watch repairer for my burgeoning watch restoration hobby. It is extremely well made, and has a clear and powerful view. I ended up returning it in favor of a digital microscope that is easier to see and can record pictures and video - however, this microscope technically did everything I needed. It's construction is heavy and solid. It's not accidentally sliding off of your desk or being knocked over. The lighting is excellent, and is convenient to switch between the two light sources. The instructions indicate that there may be halogen alternatives to the bulbs used, and for my purposes I would have looked at purchasing those to provide a little colder light temperature. The magnification is excellent. I didn't even unpack the high-powered eyepieces and the magnification was still more than enough for my needs. Overall, this is a well-made, well-packaged optical microscope that does what it does very well.

Awesome Microscope!
All the stars. For sure! WE LOVE it! More importantly, all the kids (3) and all their friends and all the parents' friends... everyone loves it! If we are having friends over, we can just put it on the table. No need for an icebreaker! :) It has a really good depth of focus. It allows you to grab things with tweezers, disassembly (watches etc) dissection (even teff seeds). Try looking at ice cream sprinkles. They look like bowling balls, but they're irregular and spotty. Very weird! You can backlight as well as front light, but not at the same time. Good enough to see blood cells as dots. I just have to note that we already owned at least 2 or 3 regular microscopes. It was totally worth springing for the money to get the improved view!

Great starter scope, but go for an Amscope with a lower magnification range
Great 3 dimensional detail. Len's display sharp images, no noticeable chromatic aberration. Feels quality. Though it sits in the corner taunting me on my current disinterest, I was highly satisfied, if not somewhat biased when I received it. Though it was not like the zoom microscope I envy in my biology lab. I have wanted one of these for years - my previous "microscope" was one of those chinese usb endoscopes (which I really enjoyed). My only complaints are the following. The bulb housing gets extremely hot, making you lose your subject when you inevitably graze the hot surface. The magnification does not offer much freedom in range which ends up with most specimens being too close, though that is my own fault for naively thinking that bigger is better. The very narrow depth of field is pretty significant even at lower mags. With the absence of lens eye cup, you find your noise being tickled constantly. It also seems the lens might be out of slight collimation, with light handling and no drops. But for the amateur biology or student on a budget, this should be your first choice.

Good Microscope
This microscope is perfect for my watch repair needs. The magnification is great and the versatility of zooms is nice. For me, the only downside is it likes to drift down bringing the movement out of focus especially at higher magnification. I would recommend this microscope.

Great for kids!
I bought this for my 6 year-old and it's a great purchase for the price. It is heavy and durable. There is a top light and bottom light that provide adequate viewing. The ocular lens is easy to use as well as the objection lens. It's perfect for bugs, small rocks and other minor objects like bone fragments etc. I have a few slides for a compound microscope that I can see with this stereo microscope....but don't expect much on the cellular level from this one. This stereo scope is GREAT for small objects!!!

LOVE THIS!
My daughter now has the baddest stereo microscope of any kindergardener we know! She no longer has to hang her head shame, or worry when she walks in to her homeschool classroom, by herself, that the imaginary classmates will make fun of and mock her. Pretty sure this is the equivalent of a sports car at her age, so he holds her head high, and is sure to wash and wax it daily.... ------ .... SO, now that that's over. This thing is awesome. My daughter (5) loves it (and even her 1 1/2yo brother likes looking through it). She is constantly collecting all manner of specimens to "investigate": bugs, plants, dirt, etc. It's been instrumental in opening up a new world to her and has really fired up her inquisitive mind and instilled a new love for exploration. There are several focal choices, but the 20x-40x-80x seems to be about perfect for us. The scope optics are fine, and it's built like a tank, so I am certain it will survive my two children, and possibly even though a third one. I would definitely recommend this scope to others.

Battery charger does not work properly
Battery charger actually discharges batteries when ac adapter is plugged in. I have to recharge batteries outside of microscope and replace them. I have a different model AmScope that uses 110 dc cord and does not have batteries. I would not have purchased a battery operated microscope because I require a microscope whose light can turned on with a throw of the switch and not have to be turned over and install good batteries every time I need to use it.

Excellent student microscope
A really wonderful little microscope for the money. I bought this to finish an analysis of organic material and was sort of expecting to be disappointed. It gets the job done, and is very light weight so I can drag it around with me during the holidays. The lighting options are really excellent, though I do recommend having an additional external light if you need raking light for your samples, as the one that comes with the microscope is a but on the weak side when your samples are textured and you need raking light. Make sure you have the right screwdriver for switching magnification lenses, as there isn't one included-- it does, however, come with replacement lights, which is a huge bonus. Highly recommend for students.

This is solidly built. High quality. Easy to adjust. The results are amazing. Just put your finger under it and see what you would not see. The 40 x magnification seems to be best. Going further does not seem at the moment needed. The view is more than if you used a magnifying glass mainly because of the binocular view. I would consider an upgrade to a model that allows for cell phone or camera attachment.

Conforme aux attentes de ma fille. Un grossissement tel que l on voit les details des pattes et des ailes de papillon. Super !!
