Q: What is the measurement from inside posts?

You do NOT want to buy this. The screw holes don't match up, so the posts are not straight. The screws are so cheap they strip. Once they are in they don't come back out. I had to get a refund. They wanted me to pay for shipping to return it. I told them they were crazy, I would need a hack saw to get the posts apart. Do NOT buy.

Q: Is this sturdy enough to hang hammock swings from?

While I do not know the actual weight bearing capacity of this unit, I honestly would not feel comfortable having it support hammock swings. The unit, itself is sturdy, has held up very well and is a great value if used as intended. I just don’t think it was designed to bear the weight and shifting of weight that attaching the swings would involve.

Q: What would you do with the canopy in the winter? Take it off? I worry about the snow and ice

Hi - we actually have not used the canopy at all, because we bought it to protect our ducks from predators while they were swimming in the pond. We have bald eagles that have tried to get our ducks, but the railings on this canopy make it seem too hard for them to have clearance. I have saved the lovely canopy fabric for some day when I can use it for shade.
