Full-Circle Warmth Ceramic Heater with Remote Control

I moved into a one bedroom, 1,000 sq ft apartment with 8 foot ceilings on the second floor of a 1900 built house that has steam heating and no insulation this year. Unfortunately, the apartment gets really cold in the winter. The radiators do not get warm even when the heat is on in the house. I believe this is due to the pipes and walls be uninsulated and the windows being leaky due to them being original. It got so bad that my wife started to feel sick after the first few cold days this winter season. I decided to find a space heater to help remove the chill in the apartment. We did not want oil due to the smell. We also wanted a heater that had a fan to circulate the heat. After some researching, I settled on this. It was ceramic tile so no smell. It had an oscillating fan that will spread the heat. We received the heater in a couple of days and assembly was simple and straightforward. All you have to do is screw the base into the heater. We plugged the heater into the wall as the directions says do not plug it into a surge protector. As we turned it on, the heat was almost instant. We were shocked how quickly the heat was blowing out of this machine. My wife literally crouched in front of the machine so she could soak the heat into her bones. My expectations were that the heater would heat the room it was in and we would move it into the bedroom at night sort of similar to the 10,000 BTU A/C unite we bought this summer. How pleasantly surprised we were when the heater was left in 360 mode heated the whole apartment. We put it in the central part of the apartment and just leave it on. It gets so hot that we actually turn the unit off. This heater is really well designed. The air gets sucked up from the bottom of the unit. The air flows through a filter to remove some particles in the air. The filter is cleanable. It flows over the ceramic tiles in the middle of the unit and gets blown out on top of a 360 degree oscillating fan. What this means is that the heater stays cool to the touch. I have the heater on in the morning before company comes over and as they arrive, I unplug the machine and put it in the closet. The vents where the air gets blown out is warm but nothing that would burn your skin or start a fire. I was disappointed that when the machine did get knocked over one night, it does not turn off automatically. Granted, we would have liked this feature, but we never leave it on when we are not home. Too many stories about fires starting from space heaters to risk it even though I think this thing is pretty safe. The machine is quiet, not silent. I would say it is quieter than a regular oscillating fan on low. We have no issues sleeping with it on. Now if only we could find an A/C that cools as well as this machine heats. It does have a controller, but we never use it. It is a simple controller that is made out of cheap plastic. We just adjust the heat on the machine. We have been so happy with this heater that we have recommended it to family and friends who need a little extra heat in the winter.

I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. Really. Now that I own this heater I'm feeling just a tad stupid for not purchasing one until now. Typically at any given time there are only two rooms being actively used in this house. So why have we been heating the entire house all winter long? Now that we have this Lasko Ceramic heat with a thermostat and a remote, we can keep the house set at 58 in the winter. No need to turn it up when we can just use the lasko for spot heating of a room. I'm thinking of purchasing a second one so we don't have to share this one between rooms. If you are looking for a review that is going to compare oil heat, gas heat, electric heat and this lasko, this is not the review for you. I can't say for sure that the lasko is going to save on our heating costs. Its seems like it will because we only have to use it as needed in a small area. You set the thermostat to the temperature you want to keep the room and the lasko does the rest. The best is nighttime with the lasko. The remote stays on the night table so that you can adjust the temperature of the room without getting out of bed. Wake up in the middle of the night with a hot flash? Turn the heater off without effort. Trouble falling asleep because you're too cold? flick up the heat without getting out of bed and getting even colder. And here's another selling point. If you and your bed partner like decidedly different temperatures you can set this heater next to one side of the bed, make sure the oscillation is off and try to spot heat the person who needs it. The heater is low enough that the person on the other side of the bed wont get as heated as the person next to the heater. This will work particularly well if the person on the other side of the bed is next to a slightly open window. Finally, the last benefit is how very quietly the lasko operates. Yes, you can hear the fan but just barely. This thing is efficient, effective and quiet. The remote and the thermostat set it apart even further from other ceramic heaters. BOTTOM LINE: Lasko thought of everything with this heater. I wholeheartedly recommend it. It will probably save you some money as well.

I purchased this particular Lasko heater after much research on different portable heaters & narrowed down to 3, 2 serious. I am so glad I determined the best heater to be this one because it, in my mind the best possible purchase in this category and price range. The description and function is true to word. It performed as I hoped it would and even better. Had several different space heaters prior, but this one is the best I have ever owned. LOVE the functionality of 360, 180 & 90 angle of heat flow. I currently use heater in a family room with furniture on 3 sides of walls (room) and only wanted to heat main areas of room without heat hitting television screen or heating furniture or walls where I wasn't currently using room. Thus, the 90 degree angle functionality of heat dispersement works perfectly for my needs and situation. Then you have the new technology of bringing air from room up to and through the base of heater and heating that air to a heat temperature desired and dispersing it through the top part of heater which is probably where I know I do is top of furniture level where you are sitting and getting the heat directly right at body level when it is a cold room is exactly where you want - not from the floor but rather directly on you. Thermostat works perfectly on both auto or manual. Keeps room exactly at temperature exactly where you want it. Heats room efficiently and in my estimation, getting to that desired temperature pretty quick. All in all, great product and for the price, you can't go wrong. Will and does compete with more costly units. Happy with my purchase of Lasko 6462 & would and am definitely recommending this product.
