Fabulous Scent!
Of all the incenses made from trees (balsam fir, piñon, etc) this is my absolute favorite. The scent is very light and refreshing. I like piñon but it can be very strong indoors - cedar is much lighter. Balsam fir can have a nasty after-burn odor that is unpleasant but the cedar is pleasant from start to finish. It gives a wonderful fireplace smell to a room without being overwhelming. I was afraid to try this because of some of the negative reviews about how the incense arrived broken up and powdered. I can see how this can happen as it is very, very fragile. If your box arrives all broken then get your money back. Mine arrived in fine shape and although fragile to handle, lit easily and were fine to use. It is true, however, that they burn only for a few minutes. I consider this to be a boon rather than a problem as you really don't want something too strong in a house.

50 incense cones with a holder for $8. Bargain!
The media could not be loaded. This is Paine's "Thrift Box" version of their popular cone incense. It's thrift because it's lacking in some super fancy details but is therefore affordable. Everyone complains about the incense falling apart and if you aren't careful, it will crumble. It took me breaking two cones to figure out how gentle you need to be. *Here's a hint(with video): you only need to USE ONE HAND to break the incense off cleanly*Besides 50 cones the box also includes a no-nonsene cone holder to protect your surface tops when burning. The Cedar scent is robust and fills up my entire apartment in minutes. I've seen complaints about the burn time. Here's another fun trick I learned: You only need to LIGHT THE TINIEST SPOT on this cone for it to start smoking. It will burn very easily with just a small ember of a flame and doesn't require re-lighting, unlike most high end incense I've owned. It's $8, it's awesome, nuff said.

Who doesn't love Cedar?
Burns quick, but the smell lingers for a long time! Personally, I don't want incense burning for a long time if I'm close by, I just want it to burn quickly and leave me that smell! While I live in the land of the white Cedar, red Cedar is a preferable smell for incense. These cones are fragile, but with proper handling, are very easy to use. I read a number of reviews after I bought my red Cedar incense warning me of the brittleness of these items, and have found that, yes, they are brittle, but that isn't a bad thing. You have to break a little off the bottom to get it to fit in the log cabin burner that is sold separately, but once you do, you have a cute little log cabin scene billowing a thin yarn of smoke straight up in your living space.Perfect for those who like to sit and read a book in a dimly lit room on the weekend whilst everyone else is out gallivanting. Great for making your home smell more pastoral, rustic and homey. Not for those people who can't figure out how to light incense, no patience, or dislike the smell of campfires, fireplaces and woodstoves.I'm going to get some Pinon Pine next!

Extraordinary decrease in quality.
I have been buying this incense for at least 10 years. It's always been consistently smelling good, and it still does! Unfortunately the quality of the incense has rapidly declined in the last few orders. This product ships with each incense bound to another in a row. You used to just be able to snap the one off the row and burn it, and occasionally you'd break the next one in the process, but those were few and far between. With the most recent orders I've made I'm breaking at least half or more of the incense. The company has changed their binding process, and whatever they've done to do this has made the product far far far worse, and practically unusable. If you're looking for a cedar incense I would have recommended this one without question a few years ago, but now I would say try anything except for this brand.

Smells like a cozy fireplace!
A friend gave me a few of these to try out, and they smell exactly like a wood fire! I left off 1 star because the come attached as 3 cones and do not break apart evenly, and they do take a bit to light.

Smells great but the cones break in half when separating them, losing 50% of what I bought!
I've had this brand before, and I think this time, the odor -although still lovely - isn't as strong. The cones I received seem to just crumble! They break and fall apart, so half of the box is unfortunately wasted. Almost like maybe they were in a humid location or very old? Not sure, but next time I'll try a different brand.

Real Nice Earthy Scent!
This incense smells wonderful! I'm a little shocked some didn't care for it like I do. To look at them a person might not be impressed, and I wasn't until I lit one up and the scent filled our home with a combination of cedar and fireplace. These are made of cedar shavings which have been pressed into cones in multiples of 6 which are easily detached from one another. For this reason they appear rough on the edges, but why should this matter? It's smell we buy incense for, not how it looks!Personally I far prefer incense which has an earthy natural smell more than a perfumed type. Sometimes I'll take a cone and heat up the tip enough to dip into powdered Dragon's Blood incense to get a combination scent starter. mmm You need to be a person who likes nature scents to enjoy these, they are like a walk in the woods. Think of camping and cabins by the lake. I also buy Paine's Balsam Fir Incense - 70 Sticks Refill but find the Cedar cones smell a bit better (to me). Still it's nice to switch off and their Balsam Fir sticks last quite a bit longer, and broken in half stand better and provide a shorter burst of scent. I'm only glad there are still companies like this left selling a good quality, great smelling product on Amazon with Prime shipping so I can get these delivered to my rural location which doesn't provide USPS deliveries. Sellers, please keep them that way!

Meh
They're ok... They break really easily and don't smell like strong cedar... But they do smell smoky like a campfire, just not like cedar.
