ESPRING Water Replacement Cartridge by Amway (with UV Light (100186))

Hi, this is a complete waste of my time buying these and have to return it. I don't mind if it is not the original AMWAY filter however, the knob at the bottom of these filter, the protruding part as sown in the picture as compared to the original filter I purchased from AMWAY prevent the eSpring filter from working properly. Red alert and keep beeping after the installation. I installed the old one back and the alert is gone. I tried numerous time thinking I never fit it well but trust me it just not working as I press it so hard and turn the knob until it clicks and secure but I guess its the longer knob at the bottom preventing it from working properly with the sensor. Unless they have a solution, or I have no choice but to return it and buy directly from AMWAY.

PURCHASED IN APRILNot as pictured either in the listing or in the package insert instructions.It had a threaded plastic nub on the bottom, protruding approximately 1/2 inch, which prevented the filter unit from seating properly in the canister. Hesitantly, I sawed off a conservative amount of the protuberance, pictured, then sanded what remained, a little at a time until the filter fit and allowed the top to close.We experienced a great deal of air coming through the line and are not certain whether a vacuum seal is required. It seems to be working, but if we find out it doesn't, we will pursue any means necessary to get the advertised product without incurring additional expense.REVIEW AMENDED IN DECEMBEROne of the benefits of this water filtration system is that it tells you exactly when you need to change the filter. Our signal didn't come until more than a month after we received this unit. In fact it was still in the box. So when we discovered, as described above, that it was not the same as the original eSpring filter unit, we could not return it.Our modification did not entirely work. The water tastes different. The unit beeps when we're running the water; though, it hasn't yet signaled it's time for replacement. My guess is the reverse osmosis part of the filter is working but the antimicrobial part is not. We don't know.And we're hesitant to order a replacement. How can we be sure to receive a filter that will fit? That does not have this half-inch protrusion on the bottom?

The nub at the bottom of this filter is indeed longer by a few millimeters than the previous design. At first I experienced the same problem as other reviewers where the filter wouldn't install and I called up customer support who then escalated me to a technical support. The support verified that the new filter design still fitted my enclosure made from 2010. It did eventually fit after I rotated the filter plus cap trying every groove until one of the combinations finally caused the whole unit to sink down flat. UV was working. The taste was the same. I'm good.

Review of ESPRING Water Replacement Cartridge by Amway (with UV Light (100186)):We have a very old (2006) eSpring filter system. As shown in Tom Koh's pictures this filter has a long plastic screw shape at the bottom, rather than a short nub. However, it DOES fit. The directions never say to dump out the water in the filter housing when replacing the filter, but I believe this step is absolutely critical. If you leave the water in the filter housing then as you push down on the new filter you're trying to compress water which is very non-compressable. The upshot is that the filter won't go all the way down and will appear not to fit. I learned this lesson when I almost failed to get the OLD filter back in after taking it out: after dumping the water it went in eaily.In any event, it fits, and when I reconnected the electricity it was recognized without issue as a new filter.

The entire ESpring filter has been a GodSend for us. We moved into a community the has well water. It is very hard water- lots of minerals in it that makes the water not very paletable. This filter removes slot of that and helps our water taste very good. Every time we change the filter, we still have to take apart the housing to get to the filter so it isn't the easiest to change. One thing of not to mention here is: once you get the ring secured and lines connected, turn the water on to feed water through the filter before even connecting the power back to it. If you don't do that, you will get an annoying beep and flashing red light on the panel.Aside from that, this is a great water filter as it should be for just under $200 and lasting a year. By comparison I get 3 refrigerator water filters at a rate of 3 for $30 that last about 6 months each. The ESpring however contains a UV light that kills any bacteria. A little bit of a pain to connect when you get it new, a little work in replacing the filter=great tasting water.

I recently learned that Amway E-Spring recently redesigned the UV Water Purifier. However, they did not change the model number (10-0186) of the filter. I was using the water purifier which was purchased maybe ten years ago. After this experience, I decided it was time to purchase an updated E-Spring UV Water purifier. That resolved the issue.

This image is not the one the you get it has a screw attachment which does fit on some but will not work on the 10-0185. The 10-0186 model has a little nipple on the bottom.The item I received has red cup on the display stating its the wrong part.

We've been buying the filters from the rep that sold us the unit for years. We decided to try this one when we were not able to contact the rep from the device company. It installed just like the ones we've purchased from the rep in the past, only we saved about $100 by buying this one. It's been over a month since we installed it, and there are no issues. It's working great!
