Lifesaver of a book for new infants
I bought this book as a baby gift because it was an amazing lifesaver for me and others for whom I've purchased this book. The new mom for whom I purchased the book sent me a picture of her week-old baby enamored with the book already. I love the large pictures with plenty of contrast, and the use of red wording helps when they first see color. My children would stare at a page for minutes at a time, giving a tired mom much relief. I could set the book up next to them and move away for a time to take care of other needs. When we'd look at the book together, it was amazing to see their eyes glue to the images and show clear fascination.I will continue to buy this book for new moms as long as it's around.

Just right for newborn
Newborn likes high contrasting image. And this Look Look book is just right for our son. He loves looking at it, hence, the title of the book. This is his favorite book for the first 3 weeks or so. Buy one and you will not regret it.

3 month old LOVES this book
I had 2-3 other black & white books for my baby, but this is the one he likes the most! Each page has a high contrast, B&W image (and pops of red), with each page varying in complexity. It definitely captures his attention the longest compared to his other books. The board book is sturdy and a good size to bring around or throw in a small diaper bag. It's also PERFECT for tummy time. My son hates being on his stomach, but I just prop up this book in front of him and no more tears. :) Definitely helps with my baby who hates tummy time. So glad I bought it!

I think it's because the images are great and visually stimulating but he gets tired of sitting ...
My husband and I have purchased several high contrast books and toys for our son. This is the only high contrast book that we have purchased. It's not as successful as the high contrast toys (I've written reviews on different toys as well by the Manhattan toy company). I think it's because the images are great and visually stimulating but he gets tired of sitting in my lap in the same position. With the toys, he can explore with them on his own. That being said, it's a great book with images that definitely capture his attention. We keep it with us when we go out on a long trip to keep him distracted and it always works. Have a look at the Manhattan toy company toys, all of which are also great because they're high contrast.Of note, you can flip the cards around and they are of good quality (they won't rip). The clip is also very sturdy and Basically can attach anywhere you need it to.

Yep. Baby loves this.
Crazy as it may sound, young babies do seem to prefer these types of images. I have a great collection of children's and baby's books and I started reading to my newborn right away and showing him pictures. He didn't seem to respond too well even to the heavy, simple baby books. So I got this one reading up on the idea of high-contrast images and voila! He is definitely more interested in this than regular color books (he was 3 weeks old when I got this).I have my baby in my lap so I'm not going to check right now, but there are about 7 spreads inside (hands with a butterfly, sun shining on growing plants, a car, a cat, flowers growing, fish, and moon with stars.) A great alternative to purchasing what I personally consider to be overpriced "flash cards." You can just prop this book up and flip the pages or let them hold it when they're old enough. Seems durable enough. On that note, a parenting tip: don't let people play on your fear of not giving your baby the trendiest, most expensive thing because it's somehow "better" for them. This book is great and a reasonable price. Those flashcards are not any different for them to be $15-$20+ for like four of them and seem more of a hassle because you can't prop them up without some kid of holder. Spending time with your baby is the best thing you can do. All the accessories are just noise at the end of the day.
