The Shinji Ikari Raising Project.
The pressure will always be on to anyone creating, a new spin on Evangelion. It's great to see these characters in roles other than "emotionally dysfunctional teens forced to pilot robots to save a world they don't care about." Yes, the manga drops most of the twisted workings of adults, overwhelming social awkwardness, and religious symbolism that the series has based its fame upon. ALSO, Since the ending of the television series presented the possibility of an alternate, semi-normal existence for the characters, this manga is a glimpse into what might have happened in such a world. Asuka and Shinji have known each other since childhood and their classmates constantly refer to them as a married couple. In this reality, Shinji's mother is stil alive and his father often hides behind a newspaper, and no one is piloting any giant robots. NERV doesn't exist yet and no angels are poised to annihilate humanity. If that's what you are looking for, you can always stick with the anime and the original manga. For those who are fine with the Evangelion cast getting a chance to live without the constant threat of apocalypse, The Shinji Ikari Raising Project is well a trip to the alternate universe.

"Baka"
Whoever translated this is a real idiot. What kind of translator leaves in japanese words so it sounds like weeaboo moonspeak fanfiction? Most notably, "baka" the weeabooiest of weeaboo words. "Baka Shinji" could easily have been translated into "Stupid Shinji" and it wouldn't have lost any of it's meaning.**spoiler warning** A direct quote from the actual english translation Shinji: "Yes I am baka. Baka for all these years, baka to have ever denied this pearl of grace before me" ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??!! Professional translators should NOT be using such amateur dialogue, it's not hard to translate "baka" people I mean COME ON!Bad translation aside the story seems to be leaning towards the cliche. I can't really complain about the art though. I picked this one over "Angelic Days" because it's art was considerably better. They have a few odd little "quirks" that show that it's not the original artist which is to be expected, but I can tell Osamu Takahashi is a professional. Angelic Days looked like a crappy doujin in comparison. I'll probably pick up the third volume just because I love Eva and I want to believe it gets better.

NGE Volume 2
I like this series, it's definitely more of a fanservice but I can handle that considering the original was so dark. The art is good and the story is hilarious. I'm in love with Rei so its kind of nice to see her so filled with emotion :) The only thing I don't like is how gay they made Kaowru... he's all over Shinji and it kind of annoys me..

This book's used? More like perfectly brand new!
When I bought this manga volume, I looked at the "used" section because of the amazing price. The book was shipped extremely quickly, and I received the book just as fast. I was pleasantly surprised that the book was in perfect condition. Definitively would buy from them again!!!

More cute Shinji, Asuka, and Rei
Volume 2 continues with the light-hearted Rom-com. You already know what you're getting into at this point and it's more of the same. Great!
