The Orchard Book of Aesop's Fables (Orchard Book of S) Hardcover – October 21, 2004

One of the best Aesop's Fables books I could find. I liked it because the pictures weren't scary, like some I have seen. Scary storybooks haunted me as a kid, so I wanted my kids to have a good experience from these classics.

Love this book. There are colored illustrations that match up with the story. I read this to my 4.5 year old boy before bedtime. He seems to enjoy the stories. There are lots of fables in this book. A great buy

Wonderful illustrations, my 10 year old son even reads it on his own. We really enjoy this edition of Aesop's Fables!

My daughter (4 1/2) has really enjoyed reading these stories over and over.

I like the illustrations, and the length of each story. It's also written so that it's easy for the kids to understand ( I have a 3yo and a 5yo). I also like the fact that they wrote the moral of each story at the end.I would recommend this book to anyone.

I bought this book for my grandson who is five. We read several of the fables together as I was putting him and his little sister, who is three, to bed. Because the book is full of pictures and the stories are short, they were both able to listen and enjoy being read to. And it allowed us to talk about some of the morals behind the stories which was fun. I'd really recommend this copy of Aesop's fables, which are classic literature for both young and old. It's a really good introduction, It brings the fables to life for a new generation, Michael Morpurgo's writing is a joy and is paired beautifully with Emma Chichester Clark's illustrations.

It's important children encounter these tales because they form the bedrock of so many shorthand phrases about behaviour and consequences, such as:* sour grapes* crying 'wolf'* a bird in the hand* a dog in the manger

Another beautiful book in every way. A perfect gift for long- term reference and enjoyment.

I bought this book to read to my grandchildren. The Morpurgo version of the fables is excellent and I am sure that it will become a favourite with children who love books. The illustrations are full of detail which helps the story along.

The book is well printed, and the font size and large pages make it easy reading for children. I found the book ideal for adult reading to children, and the illustrations captured the attention of the recipient child (my grandson).
