FH-X720BT Double DIN MIXTRAX, Bluetooth, Android, iPhone - Audio CD Receiver

I'd like to start by saying this is a great radio. I had purchased others for various cars, including the one I have this currently installed in, and this is by far my favorite. So much so I bought a second one for my mother's car. I highly recommend it. The playback sounds amazing, even with factory speakers, and there are endless adjustments you can make to give just the sound you want. I listen to various genres, from classical to hip hop to rock. All sound great and clear on this unit. My mother listens to audio books, and the voice is crystal clear and easy for her to understand. With equalization settings, base boost and more, you can get just the sound you're looking for. The large display has many options to chose from, so you can select just what you want to see. With two lines of info, you can have your clock always present while still seeing artist and title info of the song your listening to. I love the many options for the button and display colors, and the effects while on Mix mode and great! One of the complaints I see a lot about the display is that it is too dim to see during the day. Yes, this is true - IF YOU LEAVE IT ON FACTORY SETTINGS. Simply go into the system settings (by pressing the MC button) and go to your brightness setting and turn it all the way up - problem solved! Easily seen during the day, not too bright for night time driving. Also, another handy tip: There are a number of color settings for the buttons and display. You can set your favorite color or have the unit scroll through them all. Here's the tip: you can set the display for one, and the buttons for another. So, if you have trouble seeing the display (like my mother did when I bought the second unit for her car) simply set the display for a color you can see best. The white display seems to be the brightest and easiest to read. You can then set your buttons to your favorite color, or have them scroll through the colors like I do. With this little tweak, anyone can easily read the display day or night! The unit is loaded with helpful features. The bluetooth has been outstanding. My old unit was hard to hear, and people couldn't understand or hear me sometimes. They always knew I was on bluetooth in my car. This unit has none of those problems. Having received calls from my mother while in her car, I can tell you at times you don't even realize the person is on bluetooth. Very easy for both parties to hear! The external mic allows for optimum positioning for making calls. And the six preset speed dial buttons make calling your frequent contacts easier then ever! The unit works great with an iPhone! You can make and receive all your calls with ease. You can also control your music, your Pandora and iHeart Radio apps, and full use of Siri (I had to read through the manual for a bit to figure out how to use Siri, so I'll share it here to save you the time - while in any music mode (not in phone mode), simply press and hold the MC button (the large central knob) and Siri will activate). My old unit had to constantly be paired to my phone again and again. Not so with this one. In fact, both my phone and my mother's phone are each paired to each other's cars, and they connect seamlessly back and forth whichever car we are in (Note: she has an iPhone, I have Samsung, so this works with all phones). My favorite feature, by far, is the USB port. I can copy my music files to a thumb drive and take them with me. My mother copies audio books to one and does the same. You can create playlists for yourself on the USB by creating folders (yes, you may end up with duplicate files, but it's worth it). The USB playback stops when you switch modes, receive a call or turn off the unit, and starts up again right where you left off when accessed again (good for music, GREAT when listening to audio books). Make sure your music is in .mp3, .wma or .wav format; the unit only recognizes these so far. I had to convert some of my music from .mp4 and .acc, but this can be done quickly and easily online for free at https://online-audio-converter.com/. One other thing: most thumb drives tend to stick out, which doesn't look nice and can get in the way. Get yourself a low-profile USB drive. I bought this one from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005FYNSZA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01 Another little trick I learned after fiddling around and checking the manual: While in USB mode, in order to shuffle just the folder you are on, and not the entire drive, first select the folder and start playback; next, set the repeat setting to "repeat folder"; finally, and only after setting the repeat, put the unit on shuffle. This will shuffle just the folder (or "playlist") you are in. If you switch folders, you'll have to reset this, but it takes two seconds. You can also plug in your iPod or phone to the usb port to charge them or gain full control via the unit's controls, similar to other iPod accessories. The USB charging is a nice feature, as it gives an additional charging option helpful when we all need to charge our phones at the same time. MIXTRAX mode is an interesting feature. While playing back your music, it adds a "light show" to the display, scrolling colors and patterns and flashing things, much like a club. It blends songs together, like a club DJ, so the music never stops, just fades from one song to the next. A fun feature probably more enjoyable to the younger users. There is one aspect to MIXTRAX I found strange: you can set the playback of songs, in thirty second intervals, from one minute to three minutes. When enabled, the unit will play only that much of the song before fading to the next. I'm not sure why you would want to hear only 90 seconds of a song, but I suppose this is for the "club" type experience added with the display light show. I would really only use this with house/trance music myself (which I only listen to on rare occasion), but perhaps some of you will find it useful. Finally, installation was a breeze! I looked up my car and got the proper wire harness and fit plates, and was able to install this in a Ford Focus Wagon and Toyota Yaris Hatchback in under 20 minutes each. Amazon has all the products you need for installation, but if you want to make sure you get the exact right stuff and aren't car savvy, go over to crutchfield.com and search up this unit and put in your car details, then click installation gear and search them up here. Crutchfield does offer them free, but I found the total price of buying the unit plus the installation gear here on Amazon was still cheaper than Crutchfield's price. However, they are a good source of information. To install, wire up the harness, add the mounting plates, remove your old unit, plug this in and slide in to your dash. Easy as anything. The longest and hardest part of installation (and it wasn't that hard) is running the wire for the mic to where I wanted it and hiding it behind molding. Most car molding pops right off so this was easy to do. Make sure all your connections are secure (mic, unit wire harness and antenna) before inserting the radio (I goofed and forgot to check the mic and had to remove the unit to plug it in as the dash in a Toyota Yaris is kind of tight). Overall, this is a great radio. It has a ton of functionality for a fraction of the price of most others. I researched for several months, and went through three different radios before landing on this one, so I can honestly say this is the best unit for your money. Anyone can install it, anyone can operate it, and it does everything you can possibly need (yeah, the fancier units have GPS and video and such, but with smartphones do we really need all that anymore? And who watches videos while driving?). It even has a CD player for all of you still hanging on! You really can't go wrong with this one. A great buy!

After reading through the reviews for a dozen or so car stereos, I settled on this one. I looked at a number of products from Kenwood, JVC, Pioneer, Clarion, etc. It might sound strange, but my #1 feature was a always visible clock. I wanted a radio that could do song info, while displaying the time. A number of radios, like the JVC models and Sony one I looked at, cannot display the clock constantly. It is merely a piece of information that the main display displays intermittently. In this radio, the clock can be set to be always displayed on the bottom left of the screen, and then the main screen can do song info. I do work out of my car delivering food, so time may be more important to me than you. After narrowing that down, my next criteria was the connectivity of the unit. I wanted a unit with good Bluetooth, a USB front input, AUX, and a CD player. This unit has all of those connection options. The Bluetooth in particular is very good. my phone will autoconnect in seconds. (I have a Iphone 6) I cannot comment on the MIC or FM/AM reception because I haven't installed those components yet. After that I just read the reviews for all the car radios, and this radio seemed to be the most reliable, and convenient one. I would recommend going on Youtube and actually looking at people use these units. That was a good way for me to check how the interface was. The only things I miss about the unit are some of the brightness issues. Pioneer should really have more settings than 1-10 brightness levels, and they should Include dimming with my car dimmer knob(right now it only dimms to 1 when headlights are on, regardless of the actual setting on your car dimmer. I also wish the radio could be brighter on the display in the daytime and dimmer at night. Overall its a good unit.

I've had this stereo installed in a Nissan Frontier for about a month now. Install was just as easy as any other car stereo and it hasn't given me any trouble. Here are my observations thus far: - Bluetooth works perfectly. It connects right away to my Samsung phone every time it powers up. I've streamed Pandora without issues and I can skip tracks from the unit itself. - Phone call quality is good. I routed the microphone so it sits right at the top of the A-Pillar trim, about 10-12 inches from my head. It seems to work as well as my wife's car that has a factory stereo with Bluetooth. - I really like the fact that I can customize the colors to match the instrumentation. The menu is pretty straightforward and not difficult to figure out. I do wish the display could get brighter. It's a little difficult to see during the day. That's why I give it only 4 stars, but I'd buy it again. - Remember to buy the adapter kit for your vehicle. I had the wiring harness already since this was replacing another aftermarket stereo, but I did need to order the mounting bracket.

I bought this to replace the factory stereo in my car. It has many good things and very few bad things going for it. First, the good. It was easy to install and easy to connect to my phone and iPad. When I start my car it automatically connects and starts playing where it left off. It has some cool options like different color lights for the display and buttons and the ability to have them change automatically. It plays CDs great and the radio sounds good. My rear left speaker was sounding bad with my old stereo, like the bass was distorted and it needed replacing, but when I installed this stereo the speaker sounds fine now. The bad? The screen is very small, I thought it was bigger based on the pictures. Also, you can't have the time displayed AND the song info, something my factory stereo could do. I hate not being able to see the time. That's it. A good stereo and a good price. --- UPDATE --- I figured out how to display the clock on the screen so it never goes away, and I can still see track and other info. I set it up with my phone so when I start my car it connects and autoplays the track my phone is on. It takes a while to download my phone info on to the stereo for calling, but once it's on there I can use the stereo to select numbers to call. The mic works great, no one ever has issues hearing me and I can hear them through the stereo speakers just fine. I love technology, and this stereo. After 6 months of use the only issue I have is that I could not find an install bracket that fit the stereo for my car, so it's not secure but it is snug and not easily moved around.

I love this head unit. It works great, the bluetooth connectivity was a little difficult to set up at first, but now it works like a charm. The reason I took off a star, though, is for two reasons which may be related. It takes a long time to start up when the car starts. My last head unit would start nearly immediately, but I'm sitting there for a good fifteen seconds while this one takes its time to initialize. The second reason is because it loses time. I've had to reset the time on this head unit three times in the past six months. It's either really inaccurate or the long startup time is causing the clock circuit to encounter an error. In summary, I'm pleased with the unit, but it has several downfalls I would rather not put up with. Here's an itemized list of the annoyances I've encountered while using the unit, including a couple I did not mention above. Loses time Long startup Does not show the time when bluetooth is disconnected Cannot read display with polarized driving glasses. If I had to purchase another, I would probably look elsewhere moreso for the clock issue than anything else. It's rare to find a radio that you can read well with polarized glasses, but the other three are actually pretty annoying to me. I guess it'll depend on how you use the unit.

This stereo has surpassed my expectations by a long shot. It has a large amount of customization to it. For users to like to have subs in their stereo system it is a must have the cutoff frequency for the subs and gain can be adjusted from the stereo rather than fiddling with the amplifier. The cutoff frequency may also be adjusted for the rest of the speakers in the system. The Bluetooth feature is very nice is compatible directly with Pandora. You can thumbs up or thumbs down without ever pick your phone up. Also the call function is very simple to navigate and the microphone works very well. I never once had an issue with being heard clearly. A very nice feature was that the volume setting is remembered for when you make called or listen to music. For instance if you are listening to music a setting of 48 and you make a phone call at a setting of 36 the volume with automatically be set to those volumes when transferring between music and phone calls. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is an audiophile.

I just installed this and it works amazingly well, better than my previous factory radio. Install was relatively straightforward. My one star review is due to the warranty status and problem with the description saying there is a One year Manufacturers warranty. Right after I installed it I went to register the item on Pioneer and found the Pioneer Authorized Internet Sellers Page. On the Pioneer website they said that Amazon.com is not one of the authorized sellers. I did however get a pricematch for the Amazon price at an authorized seller. I hurt my head during the second install and would not have had a literal headache if this Amazon had accurate information on their website. To find Authorized Sellers on Amazon go to "Other Sellers on Amazon" and you can purchase via Amazon and have a warranty for a low price still. There are a few so go through an Authorized Seller and not through an Unauthorized Seller. It is a great unit, just pay attention to which seller you are buying it from on the Amazon website.

Awesome Product! Awesome price! The Only down fall is the radio amplified 300watts it’s puts out. If you hook up more than four speakers using the built in EQ and the LOUDNESS button ON without any amplifier upgrades the system will shut down all audio sound. (Built in security feature so your deck not to burn up on you) No sound will come out of any speakers. You will have to rewire the speaker connections again to reset the Soundstream VR-623B for your audio sound to start working again. Set EQ to your preference and leave the LOUDNESS selection off! I recommend purchasing a good separate crossover for all of your upgraded amps you are installing. Use the Soundstream VR-623B built in EQ, crossovers and your additional amplifiers to find the sound you are looking for. Any tweaking using your Soundstream VR-623B LOUDNESS button ON/ will shut down any sound going into your speakers. If this happens , rewire speaker connection to reset the Soundstream VR-623B. Don’t use the LOUDNESS button. Leave off! You will be fine. It’s still a good 300 watts audio player for the buck. I recommend buying a high dollar unit and spend the extra money to avoid this headache on any low cost aftermarket radio. You do get what you pay for:)

Nice unit, works well, pretty colors :) Bluetooth signal is nice and strong, pairing was cake. Be nice to see the clock while on a call though... (shows timer, contact, or number, along with "TEL" where the clock usually is)

This is my first purchase since the introduction of Amazon.com.mx, so I am very satisfied with this new service. Same service quality, and very fast delivery, even that this was imported from U.S. The product is as usual, Pioneer high quality. I purchased it for my wife's Ford Escape to replace the good-old 6 disc factory box. I had to do a very minimal plastic adjustment because the original space was not enough (nothing difficult, I just removed 5mm of plastic from the top side of the squared space). I made a mistake selecting the correct cable for the optional Sub-Woofer that the Escape has from factory, so I will need to order another cable, but the standard cable was ok and I installed it anyway, it works perfect, I just have pending the sub-woofer connection. I wanted to try this Bluetooth unit to test the audio with the mobile calls, and I was surprised with the quality and clarity of the sound, I am really amazed and satisfied, I tested the microphone on the lower part of the instruments panel, and clipped on the sun visor, and it works perfectly on both places, so I just need to decide the final place in regards to were I can hide the cable better. So, I am ready to order another one to replace my Explorer unit. (not old, but it doesn't have Bluetooth)

Everything works great! however here a few things ive noticed: 1 The "mixtrax" color beats setting that goes to the music, barely works, in fact, its so subtle, you dont even notice it, on top of that for the change to occur, the bass has to hit so hard, and in a specific range. 2 the radio reception is CRYSTAL CLEAR... HOWEVER... the distance at which it accepts a signal is SHORTER then both the last 2 systems ive had in my car. "stock system, and an old single din alpine that i lost the faceplate on"; i regularly commute between 2 cities. every week, and i know EXACTLY where the radio station should come in on the new city.... with this radio, i have to get a few extra kilometers closer to get it. 3 the output display is nice and large, but is narrow; songs and descriptions are always cut off mid way. 4 holy CR#P this thing is bright, really bright. I drive through the country between 2 cities where there is zero street lights and the whole interior of the car glows - ive had to turn the illumination down to its lowest, and its still too bright at night - i wouldnt be shocked if it got me pulled over - it hasnt yet. in the city where there is street lights, its bright to my own eyes, but it doesnt appear to make my car glow in the dark - but i havent seen from the outside in the city. 5 buttons are kinda clicky, annoyingly so, cant describe - must experience. forward and back buttons must be pressed in the middle or they LEAN. MISC: The microphone is annoying and i removed it, its big, ugly, has a clip (seriously a clip?, useless, why not a suction cup or sticky bottom, pioneeer, are you listening?) theres literally no where to clip this in my car. Takes longer then im used to before it plays a CD, as it determines to read format. once its in and going, its golden. AUX is great. Bluetooth works great, range is good too, i can leave my ipod5 in the trunk and itll work - my alpine at that range clipped here and there. the volume curve is ridiculous, from 0-20 you get almost nothing, then from 20-35 it climbs as you expect, then it gets loud fast like for every 1 volume at this range, is like 5 below it. And by the time you get to 45 the sound turns to utter trash (max 52) And its not the speakers, everything in my car is aftermarket right down to the tweeters and sub in the trunk; my alpine got alot louder without distortion. I have 2 ways in the doors, 3 ways in the rear 6x9s. the sub is a 500RMS 12 inch competition class with competition class amp. At that volume, the only thing that stays tolerable is the bass hits from the rear.
