I'm very happy with this shovelI needed something that could help with chores around me and my Friend's work/camp site project. We use dead fall or dead standing to build shelters that are human height and sometimes fit up to 5 people.Something that would be sturdy and useful but not horrible to carry in and out of the woods with us. This shovel is perfect.So far I have used it for:Latrine duty.Digging holes for main posts/support beams that will later on hold a roof up.Digging rocks out of the ground for wind breaks and rock walls/foundations.Stuck it into raging fires to make sure their coals settle right.Stuck it into coals and shifted them aroundDigging a water trench to control floodingIts very nice the shovel is rated for high temperatures for the last 2, it's not a gimmick, it's truly held up.Unfortunately yes, the bag that came with the shovel was fine for about 2 weeks and then a hole tore in the bottom. I've since taped it up and I'll do something more permanent some time soon. But I've used it for another few weeks with no issues with the belt loops handle or buckle.Overall I give the product 5 stars. It's light and compact, it's put up with work shift after work shift even though it's meant for just camp chores but it's still done everything I've tried to use it for. The bag may have gotten a light rip that's fixable and workable and I know that would knock it down to 4 stars for most people, but the actual shovel is amazing.

I got on here to give a really poor review...b/c it is so small, or so I thought at first. But before I made the review I decided I'd look at it again and make sure I was right...I hate to give poor reviews, don't like to make that kind of mistake. I can see now (pays to review the instruction manual-lol) that the size is adequate and it's going to be GREAT having this take up so little space!!! The heft (good weight/solid heavy-weighted metal-it's thick!) and feel of this instrument is ..well.. you KNOW once you hold it, and form it all the different ways it goes, that this is high quality. It'll stay where you put it. It'll do all the jobs its designed to -and WOW, it does one whole LOT of function! I thought it was just a shovel..actually. NOT. :-) Don't let the size fool you like it did me, look it over good when you get it, put it in all the positions, give the manual a quick lookover, know what all it can do. This is a tremendously well-designed/-made and amazingly useful tool. I stowed it in my glove box in the van so I've got it and can get to it when I need it! Very happy with my purchase -what an exceptionally nice surpise.

It looks like good quality overall but it s really small compared to what I imagined it would be. It s matching the dimensions given but I didn't realize it would be this small. If you want a real shovel and not a last resort one, go with something else. I would definitely recommend to buy the longest version if you go with this. Except for the size, it looks pretty good and feels like solid. If you plan to carry this on your belt, it might be a bit heavy.

Quality seems to be there. Seems to be a good value for the money. Light weight and compact. I was looking for one that has a pick as well so this fit the bill. It can be used with the pick or shovel folded down or both out at the same time. I’d buy it again if shopping for one.

I got this as a Christmas gift and I love it. I took it to the beach for a day trip with my family and used it to look for shells and to pick up sea trash. I love everything about this shovel. It is something that was missing from my bag of tricks. As a naturalist this works for me. I do a lot outdoors and you can never have too many tools that double as different tools. This helped me with beach clean up and shell searching. This has so many uses. It is light but it is tough and a strong little shovel. When I got it I took it out to use the ax and the saw blade and the pick; they work like a dream. The pouch is the only thing I would say that is a bit flimsy but that is such a minor detail since it holds the shovel rather nicely. It is perfect for foraging and when looking for shells and fossils. A prefect gift for any rockhound, camper, naturalist, or hiker who loves foraging. Over all I am very pleased and thrilled with this one. Got a good load of shells with it yesterday. It was so much fun to take it for it's maiden voyage.

This little shovel is well built. I'd buy again if I was to loose it.

This is a cool shovel!! It's a mini one but very durable for sure. I'll certainly buy another specially for the price. Can't beat it! Every house needs one of these.

If I had read some of the reviews before ordering this shovel, I probably would not have ordered it. When I saw in the advertisement that the shovel is made in China, I almost didn't order it, but I'm so glad that I did! I can think of only two shortcomings, but they are far outweighed by the strength of this shovel, its extra hidden tools, its functionality, and its price. I give it 5/5 stars and highly recommend it.The shovel head is about 4 1/4" by 5" and was accurately described in the listing, although somehow I thought it would be bigger. The other thing that I did not like is the "compass"; mine did not have a needle, so it is nonfunctional, but I didn't expect to rely on it anyway.As a whole, the shovel and handle are made of a strong metal, so unless one beats it against a boulder, I think it will excel in performing its intended tasks. It fits very easily into a sturdy shovelhead-shaped bag to slide onto one's belt. I was extremely pleased to see how sturdy and strong this little shovel is. I especially liked the fact that you can bend both the shovel head and the pick. Hidden within the handle pieces are a whistle, little saw and little cutting blade. The package comes with easy-to-read and diagramed assembly instructions which show you where the extra survival features are hidden.
