Rain-Bird ESP-TM2 Indoor Outdoor Irrigation WiFi Zone Controller Timer Box and Link Lnk WiFi Mobile Wireless Smartphone Upgrade Module Sprinkler System (8 Zone)

Wanted a sprinkler controller I could command from my phone. It is a game changer to not have to change zones from inside the garage, and then run to the back yard for possible adjustments, and then repeat. I tried other products that were not compatible to my old RainBird controller though stated it would work. One sprinkler repair company warned most companies only work on systems that display the scheduled waterings on a controller, not just a phone. I do not know if true or not. This controller has great display of schedule and the phone app is simple, straightforward and works. Once in a while it shows that connection is lost, but is quickly found. I do it have a booster on my router. I am very happy with it, definitely worth the money. Of course, would have been sweeter if on sale. Oh well. You won’t regret this upgrade.

While there are less expensive options for current irrigation controllers, many newer controllers are only programmable via their apps. I've had older Rain-Bird controllers and love the ease of use of their manual controls. I'm a little old school and still like to manually set things at the box. The Rain-Bird ESP-TM2 has a great combination of manual controls at the panel and full use of their app. If you've never installed an irrigation controller, this one is very simple to set up. Comes pre-wired for power which is very nice as it saves you some time and extra steps for setup. Take your time matching your zone wires to the new panel and viola, you are done. I'm getting to using the app and am very impressed with it's features. Ultra fast shipping from the seller and it was worth the extra money.

The device came with all the pieces needed to install including rain guage. We had someone install it and with the app it is so easy to schedule and adjust if needed.

I replaced my 2008ish version, before wifi, of the rainbird controller with this one. Mounting was simple enough, using two achors and screws. I had to ream the wire penetration knockout to match my larger existing conduit, but not a big deal. Panel operation pretty simple. The iphone app is good but could be a better. Would like to have rain delay, and other items, per program and not for all. Overall works great!

Works pretty well, but the WiFi is weak. I have other devices farther away that don't struggle to connect.

I had this same unit for years and unfortunately a lightning strike close to where is was killed it!! (Presumably the lightning hit the ground close to a valve wire and traveled back to the control unit). As I've been really satisfied with it's performance and WiFi connectivity I replaced the dead unit the this one. Very easy install as all the wires for each zone were labeled 1 thru 8. 10 minutes, done!!

Can now adjust sprinklers from other house 3 states away, very convenient.

Been using this replacement unit for over a year. It works fine. The WiFi plug allows the unit to be controlled from my phone on their 1.0 App.(4/2025) Update: The new 2.0 app is not compatible with this unit at this time.
