The Amazon Basics MR16 LED Light Bulb is a fantastic replacement for traditional 50-watt halogen bulbs. At only 7 watts, these bulbs are incredibly energy efficient while still providing bright, clear light. I’ve swapped out all of my old halogen bulbs for these, and the difference in both energy consumption and brightness is noticeable. The GU10 base fits perfectly into my existing light fixtures, and installation was a breeze. What really impressed me is how bright these bulbs are—they provide the same level of light as the halogen bulbs I used before, but with a fraction of the energy cost. Plus, they don’t get nearly as hot, which is a great bonus for keeping rooms cooler and safer. I was worried that since these were AmazonBasics lightbulbs (I mean, seriously, what does Amazon not make nowadays???) that they would be finnicky and based on other reviews they would not dim. Let's get some things clear: 1) They are dimmable. I do not have any issues dimming the lights. 2) They do not run as hot as incandescent bulbs, which helps keep your place cool. They are also made relatively well. 3) To me, the brightness was perfect. It's not blindingly bright, but it also illuminates the area so it doesn't look like you live in a cave. 4) The temperature color of the bulbs was also perfect. I did not want yellow, but I also did not want psych-ward white. If you want moderation in your life, these are perfect. Overall, I recommend these because they are about $3/bulb and work perfectly. Everywhere else I looked (I looked all over, trust me) these things come out to like $5-7/bulb, and I have yet to see any issue with these compared to other bulbs. So, if you're looking for the best bang for your buck, seriously don't look any further. UPDATE: I did have one bulb die out on me. I think it is a little early for that to happen (it has only been a year), but I have had my lights on longer since working from home. I still recommend these solely on value.

This review is for the 6-pack MR16 LED daylight bulbs, dimmable. The bulbs are made in China. These bulbs have a claimed brightness of 500 lumens and are dimmable. I got these replace some halogen versions in some accent lighting that uses these types of bulbs with a GU10 type socket, which looks like the bolts as opposed to pins or the standard socket. The halogen versions put off a lot of heat and burn out quickly, so I am hoping these LED versions would be better. The bulbs appear to be decent quality. However, these do have a plastic lens instead of glass as well as the plastic housing. Still the quality of the bulbs appears to be decent. I prefer the daylight version of lighting and these bulbs emit a nice bright white light, although these are primarily accent type lighting as opposed to lighting up a room. I do not see any details on the safety features of the bulb included in the box, nor do I see anything in the product description. I would like to see the safety features detailed and included with the bulbs. As it is with LEDs, they are a bit more expensive than standard bulbs, but I prefer the LED version because these are more energy efficient as well as they emit less heat. According to the product description, these can last up to 10000 hours, which is a bit more realistic than some brands of bulbs. This translates to 3 to 8 years depending on how many hours per day these are used. Being accent lighting, I would think they would last on the longer side of my estimate. If I can get 3 to 5 years of use out of these, I would be satisfied. One positive with these bulbs is that they are warrantied for 3 years. The bulbs light up instantly, gives off very little heat and best of all don’t have any mercury. This is my first time using AE bulbs, so I will see how they hold up. So far, these seem to be ok but I will update my review with any long-term durability issues with the bulbs. 4 stars

Switched from soft white halogen bulbs to daylight led bulbs because I disliked how dim everything was. Was amazed how much clearer and brighter it is now with these lights. Added benefit is that I will use far less electrivity and for a far longer life expectancy. One suggestion is to make sure you replace all the lights because there's a tremendous difference between the halogens. Would highly recommend these.

Good product

The lamps on the vent hood over my kitchen cook top were a pair of halogen lamps. I have had this vent hood for roughly 10 years. During those 10 years I’ve had to replace the halogen bulbs several times. I have always replaced them with similar halogen bulbs just because that’s what was there. One of the Halogen bulbs has again failed. So, this time I thought, “let’s get LED bulbs. Less heat, longer life, win-win “. So, I ordered these LED bulbs. The new LED bulbs were delivered quickly. The body style has the exact same design and dimensions as the original halogen bulbs and they fit into my range hood perfectly. I specifically ordered a 3000K color temperature LED bulbs to match that of the original halogen bulbs. The color temperature was a perfect match. The LED brightness was actually a bit brighter than the original halogen bulbs which is a bonus. I can’t yet speak to the longevity of these LED bulbs as they are new. But, since they came in a 6 pack, even if one fails, I have replacements. So, all in all I am very pleased with this purchase. I currently recommend these bulbs for your use. Good luck and enjoy.

So... I bought those in January 2022, was very pleased with those in our kitchen, replaced halogen bulbs. Today, we had high winds and either a power outage or a power surge, not sure which. Our house breaker was tripped, when we turned the breakers back on, all 9 of the light bulbs in the kitchen were dead, this was confirmed by screwing in some of the extra bulbs left over, which turned on. All other lights in the house were fine, none of the other lights were GU10, they are screw in bulbs, but still LED. I researched online and it seems that some LED bulbs are sensitive to power surges and can blow out, particularly those that are GU10 style. I'm not sure if the "dimmable" aspect was also a factor, allowing a higher voltage to be run through the bulbs and blow them out. I have no doubt that if I ordered more of this bulb, they would work fine... until the next surge or outage. I'm now trying to find "non-dimmable" GU10 LED bulbs, and am struggling, it's like they all are "dimmable." There's also material out there that recommends people add a surge protector to the electrical lines that connect their LED bulbs... ugh. I also tried to find GU10 bulbs that may have surge protection within, no luck so far. There's no point in replacing older style lights if LED is going to be much more susceptive to power fluctuations. If your house is electrically well protected/insulated for surges, then you should not have an issue with those bulbs.
