First time trying mushy peas
I've known about mushy peas for years and finally decided to try some. Time consuming but they were really tasty. I'll definitely make them again. They have to soak for 12 hours so I got up at 5 in the morning and poured boiling water on them so I could cook them with supper. Takes a good 30 minutes to cook too. The soda tablets are included which was nice. I thought they were bland on my first taste but after I added sugar, salt and butter it really brought them to life. I have a new friend in the UK and she says she only buys canned mushy peas. That would be nice so you don't have to wait all that time.

Delicious
These dried peas cooked perfectly. Picking through them before soaking there were only a couple of peas that were consigned to the compost - very little waste.

Time consuming --but original, and best way to make it
The type I really remember had a tablet (full of sodium--I presume) to dissolve with the dried peas.. and soak for a long period... then cook. Today in England that version is gone, too. This version however is far superior to canned.

Mushy Peas
I'm something of an Anglophile, but I never had mushy peas. I was reading a mystery series and the characters were always getting fish and chips and mushy peas. So I did a little research and found out that mushy peas are field dried peas that are then soaked and cooked and are mushy.Doesn't sound appetizing, right? Let me tell you, these are fab. A different experience than fresh/frozen American green peas. Mushy peas made with Batchelor's Bigga brand are somewhat dry tasting and sweet. And a whole heck of a lot better then canned peas (yuck!).I truly like these and have them now every time we have fish in our house. They are truly very good. Give 'em a try!

They arrived in plenty of time for Christmas
The package was a bit bashed when it arrived but the contents were still intact. Would order again if necessary

How disappointing.
The media could not be loaded. Waited a week for my order (which was delayed in transit) to arrive. Upon arrival, peas were spilling out and when package was opened, the boxes were crushed and non-refundable. Never even had the chance to enjoy. Terrible.

Best peas for Mushy Peas
I did a blind taste test with Bigga Select Marrowfat dried peas against another brand of dried peas that can be used to make Mushy Peas. Everyone concurred, the Bigga dried peas were better. Rather expensive though.
