Moebius Models 1:8 EVA Pod 2001: A Space Odyssey

Es un excelente modelo, más grande de lo que esperaba y con un gran detalle. Será necesario dedicarle una buena cantidad de tiempo para pintarlo y armarlo. Considero que fue una excelente compra al igual que otros modelos de Moebius que he comprado.

This thing is huge. 1/8 scale of one of my favorites space vehicles ever. The box is large and some of the pieces are large. The sphere is about the size of a bowling ball I guess. This kit is for advanced modelers I think. If you have not done many models before I would not recommend it just yet, get some experience first, this is a bit expensive to mess up. I have not attempted to build it yet however, I have built at least 60 models in my time, because I want to add lights and maybe some real displays on the control console using small displays and maybe an Arduino drivers. Why? Its because I want to make the best out of this model due to its high cost and rich detail plus it would be an awesome piece in my office. Google this build, there are some really cool videos and ideas out there on this.

I've built many of plastic models since childhood and this is simply exquisitely molded. Its large size makes it easy to assemble. That it, unless you add lights - which it a daunting task that will add weeks and tedium to assembly. When you add up all the extras to make it look as cool as it does in the pictures, it came to over $500 for me. This review loses a star because Moebius inexplicably neglected to add an astronaut figure. You really need this for scale otherwise friends and family will think you assembled the Star Wars Death Star. You can find and astronaut built for the kit from a third-part vendor, Shapeways. But plan on sticker-shock: $150 for a 3D molded 2001 astronaut. This model is a must have for any sci-fi hobbyist's collection.

The model came on time. Very nice detail and a big size kit 1/8 scale. Room to add lights and wires. Looking forward to putting together.

awesome builders model

This is a model that modeler fans of 2001: A Space Odyssey have been waiting for for decades. Imagine getting three and recreating the entire pod bay of the Discovery.

What else can you say except "Open the pod bay door HAL" and then build this beauty. Searching for 1/8 scale Dave and Frank have found some ideas but no hard results.
