I bought this 1TB WD Green SSD to replace a very old HDD on my dinosaur Windows 7 desktop. I used the free Acronis download from WD clone the old system drive. Acronis make this so easy. Cloning and startup went flawlessly. Pro: Lowest price per GB I could find anywhere US based, name-brand, industry-leading company Fast enough for my very old PC Free Acronis download made installation EASY Win-7 Boot time increased TEN FOLD SO QUIET !! Con Not quite as fast as higher-priced mainstream drives I spent HOURS of Black Friday research and stress to select this specific drive. I was torn between Seagate and WD, as both are industry leaders and US based. I have lost Seagate drives in the past, I've never lost a WD drive, so I went with WD. I went with WD Green(slow) instead of WD Blue (Fast) because green is substantially less money, and, this old system can't really go that fast. I've very happy with this purchase. I only regret not doing this long ago. After the holidays, I will buy another to upgrade the wife's old computer.

Order received in good condition and appearance. Not yet fully tested. Hope it is effective and will last a long time. Exact fit and size when installed.

First of all this is a quality SSD and is really fast. I have been using in a professional recording studio environment for 3 months now wit zero issues. My Windows 10 PC fully booted and ready to go in 18 seconds! Love it. For all those one star reviews its very obvious you don't know what your doing when you were installing. There is nothing automatic about installing a new drive. Learn before you get in over your head. You cant go wrong with this drive its super fast and reliable, and for 100$ you cant beat it. Purchased this drive in early 2020. it has lasted continuous load, moves, power outages, suffocation when the cpu became frozen, BSOD, millions of writes, reads, and rewrites, etc. it can take a lot. sadly, just after Thanksgiving 2025, it's wear began to show. drive performance had been reduced down to 75% according to scans by CrystalDisk Info. i was going to have to find a replacement. before i could get the replacement though, it gave out on me on a boot up announcing that a S.M.A.R.T. failure was predicted if this drive was booted from. it refuses to boot up and now, over a decade of data and memories are locked inside of it, unable to be accessed. It's my fault for not backing up the data and memories in separate machines and digital locations. so my recommendation, if this drive is exactly what you're looking for, buy 2 and have one as a backup ready to clone. do regular checks each months to ensure performance holds steady. lasted 5(nearly 6) long years which is longer than my last relationship

It seems to be a decent drive. If all you are looking for is a SSD this will do fine. My big complaint is sustained write speeds. The DRAM cache is pretty small and fills after a few GB. While writing to the cache the speeds are between 250 and 300 MB sec. once it’s full, the speeds jump all over the place. Write speeds drop as low as 1 MB sec and back up to around 150 MB sec. Read speeds are decent and in line with other SATA drives I have used. It’s a pretty good value drive.

A couple years ago I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop (I3) processor with the intention of using it as a spare. The PC suffered from lousy boot times-as much as 35 minutes. I couldn't fix that in task manager. I tried replacing the standard 1tb HD with a WD Green 1tb hard drive. Boot time is <1 minute (ca 30 seconds). The computer has fast snappy response. Installation took 2.5-3 hrs. I used Acronis to clone the HD. It spent a very long time preparing the source disk. Maybe 30 minutes writing to the WD SSD target. It took 15 minutes to swap the drives. 10 of that 15 minutes was looking for a screw that fell out, hit the table and bounced into some unknown dimension. Initial boot up with the SSD was without problem and took less than a minute. The laptop has performed flawlessly and blazingly fast compared to the original drive. I read the reviews on Blue VS Green ssd drives. If I were going to use this laptop for high i/o, intensive use, I probably wouldn't have bought the Green. But then this laptop wouldn't be Dell with an I3 processor. The estimated life expectancy of the green is up to 1.0 million hours. that's just under 115 years. The blue would last just under 200 years. I may be sorry in 2135. This is the 3rd laptop I've replaced the original drive with an SSD. I've had one failure. It was up and running within a couple of hours of getting the replacement drive. The bottom line is this SSD made this laptop usable.

I bought 3 of these total and upgraded my work PC, my work laptop and my wife's PC. This was the best upgrade I have made to our computers in years and it was super low cost. Boot times are 100% faster. It's like getting a new computer but better. These were really easy to install and there are plenty of instructional you tube videos but you can be logical and figure it out. I have been running drives for about a month with no issues and best of all no sound. By nature SSD have no moving parts and what's noticeable is the lack of sound or noise coming from my computers now. All in all I would buy more but don't need more.

This was fairly easy to install, I have a custom built PC so all of the cables were already there. It does NOT come with a cable nor mounting screws. If you want it to look professional then you'll have to buy those separately or rip them out of an older PC. You do have to configure it first which was a little troublesome at first because I'm not a Windows person. I simply hit the Window button and type 'Administrative Tools' then clicked 'Computer Management' then scroll down to 'Disk Management'. Your new drive should be there ready to initialize and configure. For Linux it's the standard mounting command. I play video games and this drive is much faster than a spinner drive, glad I purchased it.

Die Festplatte läuft sehr zuverlässig. Seit sie im Einsatz ist läuft der Laptop auch wieder flott. Da kann die alte HDD nicht mithalten. Günstiger als ein neues Laptop. Bin sehr zufrieden.

I'd always recommend everybody to upgrade their spinning system disks to an SSD. You get many benefits of performance especially as a system disk. In my case, I already have a 512GB SSD as my system drive, but I'd added a 1TB HDD as a data disk. Unfortunately, I found the spinning disk made my PC noiser and produced vibrations. (Not to mention issues regarding seeks times etc). For under £80, I removed my noise issues, and resolved performance issues at the same time. I've been through many SSDs in my time, and I can say this WD is really good. You just need a spare SATA cable for data and power. It all worked straight out of the box with no drivers or additional software installation required. (I use Windows 10). Overall, I'm very happy with this.

Its a good ssd sata 3 one good price for 1 tb people looking for a good speed Quality and performance can buy this ,its a cheap and best at this price in present martket of ssd . and people who don't about ssd are writing a bad review plsese stop this and first learn about the products first

Concernant les débits ils sont conformes pour du sata. Avantage sur le Samsung QVO sur les gros transferts (+ de 40GO) les débits ne s'effondrent pas, ceci certainement dû au fait que le WD soit en TLC contrairement au Samsung en QLC.
