Palladium is a member of the aristocrats among the periodic table of the elements: the precious metals. This nine-member team comprises those metals which have in common an extreme reluctance to forming chemical bonds with any other elements. As such, they're most widely known for jewelry but are also extensively used in industry for electronics, crucibles and various catalysts. Yet another use - if we can call it that - is as bullion where these metals get to stay put like a lump on a log until traded to someone who can afford to own them. This little guy has been stamped for just this purpose by leading Swiss refinery Valcambi. A very attractive keepsake that will at least keep its value if not increase!
