No super steel here, but if that's what you wanted, you wouldn't be shopping in this price range.
---2 years later--- Edit:I've added a photo after owning these for over 2 years. They are fine. The one on the far right is left out on the counter and I use it literally every day as a utility knife. Easy to keep very sharp. It has been left in the sink in a bowl of water, unwashed for a day or two many times, with no rust or damage, except the handle is a little duller.*Don't put nything you want to keep in a dishwasher… especially knives!*--- end edit--- original review follows---I've found great value in these steak knives. Granted they're not made of any of the various super steels, but after all… its steak! They still beat the crap out of the tons of serated steak cutters out there, and I love this style of handles. They are a great match for my Shun Classic series kitchen knives. Easy to sharpen too, if you have even nominal knife sharpening skills.

Great at First...
RUSTED out in less than 3 months of minimal use!!! I've had these for less than 3 months and they have started to rust. I use them maybe once a week as I live by myself. I also only use water and soap to clean them as I don't even have a dishwasher. They look great and are sharp after being honed and stropped but nothing can excuse the flaw of rusting stainless steel silverware. I'm not gonna wait to see what they look like a year from now. Unfortunately, it's past the time to return them. I liked them at first but this is not OK!UPDATE (12/2020): I can polish off most of the rust but now one completely broke and another is starting to split at the handle. These are minimally used. Still sharp though.

A great Value
These knives are decent quality and should last a while if they are properly taken care of. They were quite sharp upon arrival and look very nice. They feel a little on the cheap side and I can tell that the craftsmanship is on the lower end of the spectrum but they do offer a good value for the price. For my hands they are a bit small and could use a larger handle and thicker blade. Overall a good knife set for someone who wants the high end Japanese knife look without spending the high end Japanese knife price.

Don't let the first impression fool you, their junk!
These knives were packaged very well in a nice display box. The edge is sharp and gently slices through thick steaks. However, they are slippery to hold and rust after the first wash. The handles lose their luster and turn dull black with striations giving them a more rustic than elegant appearance. Very poor quality for such a great first impression.

Excellent Quality
Steak Knives arrived with a very nice, sharp edge. Handle and build was WAY better than expected. I would absolutely purchase again the next time these go on sale just to have 12. The box that is included probably won't last long term, but for the foreseeable future will provide a safe place for the knives.

No tang
Nice knives but there is no tang going into the handle so what is in the photo can happen. It looks like there is just a little glue that holds the parts together.

Pricey rusty knives
Had them for two weeks now and they look horrible with all the rust marks on them. For thirty dollars you think you would get more that two uses out of them before they rust. The one up side is that they came out of the box sharp.

Safety
This set has sharp point end of blade where the handel begins ; you need cearful care when hand washing it, so you won't cut yourself. Also not good for dishwashing unit, the handel luster will be lost.
