The Dutch Oven Cookbook 2014 edition
This is a review of the 2014 edition of The Dutch Oven Cookbook. I borrowed the 2006 version and wanted to purchase my own copy. I discovered there was a new printing. I wondered if the recipes were the same, but I couldn't find any information about that in any of the reviews. So I thought I would provide that information in case anyone else was wondering the same thing. The 2006 edition has the pears on the cover. The 2014 edition has a red enamel dutch oven on the cover. There are a few differences. In the Soups, Chiles and Chowders section, Pasta Fagioli Soup was removed, and replaced with Chicken Posole Soup. The other recipes are all there. Some have been reworked a bit, like Dutch Oven Scrambled Eggs is now Dutch Oven Eggs with Pancetta and Kale. A few others have slight changes in the name of the recipe, but the recipe is unchanged. There are more pictures in the new one, which is not necessarily better. Sometimes imagination is better than the picture! One other thing I wanted to mention is the size of the book itself. The 2014 book is smaller is size than the 2006 version. 2006 is 9 1/4 x 7 1/4. 2014 is 8 3/4 x 7 1/4. Not much, but enough to make it seem small. 2014 has more pages, 163 v. 147 for 2006. The book has some very nice recipes in it. Definitely worth the money to purchase. My own personal preference would be the 2006 first edition. It's plain, but I like it. This is still a good purchase though, and I enjoy the recipes.

Book Review
I bought several of these books to give along with new Dutch Ovens for several family members. The price was affordable, the book arrived in perfect condition, recipes look interesting. I also purchased the cleaning kits. All together it's a great life long gift.

A perfect dutch oven starter book
I bought dutch ovens for all three of my daughters for Christmas this year. They all like to cook ,especially soups, crock-pot and 1 dish foods so I thought the dutch oven would be the perfect gift. I was thankful to find a dutch oven cookbook that had the basics of "how to" select, take care of and cook with a dutch oven. It also has lots of information of the basics of cooking with a dutch oven. All my girls are wonderful cooks but unfamiliar with the dutch oven. I gave them their dutch ovens and dutch oven cookbooks at Thanksgiving since they all cook from scratch regularly and have much holiday cooking to do I thought they could use it early. So far I have gotten rave reviews from the girls on their dutch ovens and the cookbook. They may alter some of the cookbook recipes to their own likings but really like the good information it has. It is their "go to" book for their dutch oven. To those complaining about the edit issues, look beyond them and look at the great information and recipes it provides. To the authors: Thanks ladies for taking the time to write such a helpful cookbook.

Worth it.
My husband got himself a dutch oven, so this was my xmas gift to him. He tried 2 recipes and loved both. We do not use wine in cooking though. we do not like the taste of it, so he subs with broth, or water. - also omits carrots from the recipes. Still comes out great and taste is not compromised.

An excellent cookbook for the Dutch oven
An excellent cookbook for the Dutch oven.My wife bought me my first Dutch oven along with this cookbook last Christmas (2017). It’s almost been a year and I’ve cooked so many recipes from this book. We’ve loved every single recipe, particularly the provincial soup, garden minestrone, smothered chicken with mushrooms, chicken posole (amazing), maple-glazed root vegetables, etc. I’ve made many of see multiple times throughout the year. I’m really looking forward to trying the lemongrass chicken pho, kalua pork, and hot and sour soup, and the gumbo recipe. Also, I was new to cooking when I received this Dutch oven and cookbook last year, and I did not find the recipes hard to follow at all. I enjoy the build up of flavors these recipes develop, and everyone has loved the meals and soups.Highly recommend this cookbook!

Good Cookbook
I am new to the Dutch oven. Just bought one and have not used it yet. I bought this recipe book to get ideas of what kinds of things (besides roast) that can be cooked in a Dutch oven. This cookbooks does have many recipe ideas, but does not seem to be for a beginner. This cookbook also has recipes for all sizes of Dutch ovens. Mine is a 7 quart. Most recipes are for smaller ovens than what I have. I'm not sure if it matters if you take a recipe made for a 5 quart Dutch oven and use it in a 7 quart?? I think I need to buy a book for beginners and one for 7 quart ovens, if I can find such a book.

Good cookbook but not great
Look this is OK and would have been better if there were more pictures of the finished meals. I'm more interested in mains than starters or desserts. So not really for me.

Great Dutch Oven
Brilliant product for a fraction of the price of a Le Crusiete. Heats evenly and is very heavy as it should be. It can be used in the oven or on top of the hob, it's enamel interior makes cleaning a doddle. For 50 Quid, what's not to like.

Easy, tasty and so far a success with each recipe. I gave this to my husband who has now decided he's got a passion for cooking... and it's a success!
