Big words- but good book and accurate portrayal
This simple little reader is unexpectedly spot on! Not only is it accurate (I especially love that they use the term “attack line” for the first hose into the fire” it’s realistic! The guys at the firehouse work together to check the trucks in the morning, do a fire inspection (it even lists what they’re looking for, like fire extinguishers and working smoke detectors) and make some fish for dinner, which of course they don’t get to eat right away! Although it’s marketed as such, I wouldn’t really consider this an easy reader, since it includes words like “inspected” “restaurant”‘and “caught.” You could read it together with kids, though, and actually learn a lot!

Good toddler book
Gives an inside look of what it is like to be a fireman. My son really enjoyed the book.

A good book for my 5 year old firefighter crazy grandson.
This is a good book for several reasons. It shows some of the other things that firefighters do besides battling blazes. The diversity of the characters is good. The main guy is African-American and one of his buddies looks Hispanic and his name is Luiz. I wish they had included a woman in the story in some way but overall I liked the way they presented the story.

Our bilingual home is very happy with all the DK readers we have bought. I no longer bother with the reviews or information about the books and just buy them on the title alone because of the consistency of quality.

Where are the women?
The usual beautiful DK illustrations and graphics but why oh why are there no female firefighters in the whole book and?

But we originally bought this for our 2yr old to enjoy the pictures as he loves firetrucks
Cute book! It is for older readers, our 7yr old can work through it well. But we originally bought this for our 2yr old to enjoy the pictures as he loves firetrucks. It's real photos instead of drawings which he loves.

American based firefighter book!!!
I ordered this for my firemen mad children.Im a little disappointed though as its obviously a American author as uses occasional American terminology that my children didnt understand.Apart from that it is an "ok" book which serves a purpose, and my children seem to like me reading it,I wouldnt rush out though to buy another one in this series. And im sure the English written ones are more suitable if you want to read about "the day in the life of a firefighter" in England.

A must for all would be firefighters!
Purchased for my 4 year old son who is really into fire engines and firefghters. American, so a few of the names of equipment are different to here, but a great non fiction book which sparked much discussion and has added more detail to his role play. Highly recommended.

Americanised text
This is similar (ie Americanised text) to the teacher one, although at least the story holds together a bit better. But Amazon, you should tell us if it's to be read by Americans or English, because it's difficult to explain to the kids.
