The Orphan: A Cinderella Story from Greece Hardcover – Picture Book, October 11, 2011

This tale in the Cinderella genre is outstanding. It is simply lovely to read and is illustrated by Giselle Potter in a way that captivates the reader and pushes the reader along, enhancing the written word beautifully. And the book, extemely important for a children's book, also reads well when read aloud. Try it and you will agree, of this I am sure.

My daughter loves the Cinderella story, so I started buying her different ethnic versions. She is a sliver Greek, so it was nice to be able to give her a story that includes part of her heritage. It is written well and the illustrations are lovely.

A delightful twist on the classic fairy tale. With a repeated, rhyming refrain, children can join in the telling of the story, taking on the role of the orphan's deceased mother, who offers advice to her daughter as she navigates through a less than ideal family situation.

Book was in excellent condition

I like this version so much. How cool was it that honey and wax made her lose her shoe? So sweet.

I purchased several versions of the Cinderella story from many countries. My class loved reading the different versions and used that as a springboard to write their own story of Cinderella from a different country after completing some research.

The story is very good. I collect Cinderella stories from around the world for my daughter and this is now one of my favorites! As always, Giselle Potter's illustrations are heart-breakingly beautiful!5 stars
