High Qyality and Accurate
I have both this and the Starrett. Yes the Starrett is super high quality. This product is made in India(not USA as pictured) and there are a few shortcuts in the finish but it is very accurate and when I compare it with the Starrett --- it is measures the the equal considering one's level of error in my measuring with a high precision caliper.I reach for this one first just because it is easier to read due to its brighter finish. The Starrett remains clearly better made and is its usual masterpiece but the General tool is well made and very accurate.

Handy tool
Checked all stores in area including local electrical supply and could not find this tool. I wanted to replace old fuse box with new breaker panel. Tool helped me identify wiring gauge to determine any potential wiring re-wiring problems. Worked great.

Handy
It's handy. I haven't had a need to access it for knowledge!

High quality
This is made in China and the quality appears to be very high. I have an older version (made in USA) and the quality seems substandard. For example in the older version, the precision slots for some of the smaller AWG numbers are cut in at an angle instead of perpendicular to the circumference. The AWG appear to match on both the new and old versions, however.

A must have for precisely measuring wire gauges (US Standard)
This is an incredibly useful tool for finding out wire gauge (US Standard) if you're unsure or there is no marking on the wiring itself. The round gauges are somewhat roughly cut and can be sharp so watch out for cutting your hands up. I'd use gloves when using this. Its also smaller than I expected, but still it works just great.I would hope most people inherently know this, but I am going to state the obvious: Make sure you have the electricity TURNED OFF if you are using this on a preexisting electrical run. Its not safe to work with electrical components in any situation without making sure that the electricity is off.

Ok for sheet stock, not so much for stranded wire
On the package: American Standard Wire Gage #20 0-36 (.325" -0.005") upc 038728220363 Made in China. In the package: 1 wire gage as described/picturedFirst impression was that this is a solid tool, heavy and not flexible which would lend it to be durable. Unfortunately it has quite the magnetic attraction which makes me think the "stainless steel" construction claim is less than accurate. One quibble regarding the measurement of wire is that there is no stranded wire reference gage which would be useful for measuring electrical wire and cable (such as picture hanging wire or small wire rope) as those diameters are slightly larger than their solid stock counterparts.Still made in China.

A quick reference.
Just what I needed to quickly identify unknown solid copper wire sizes.
