Great product - perfect size for two
I was originally looking for a countertop compost system and I am so glad that I ran into this product. I love that the caddy is out of sight and doesn't take up our precious counter space. It fits perfectly under the sink and is great construction. My cabinet doors are a little over an inch thick and it worked great for me. It's not wobbly at all and the cabinet door works great with it attached (that was a concern for me when I was buying the product - don't worry it's fine!).This is the perfect size for my husband and me. We eat produce every day. Usually we'll put a banana peel in there from breakfast, tea bags, and avocados skins and pits for dinner. We'll throw in the occassional apple core, carrot peels, and potato peels. I empty the container about once a week, although it's usually between 1/2 to 3/4 full by that time. Also, a quick note about the compost bags. I'm not sure if I will get them again. They let moisture through, so you end up having to wash the compost caddy anyway. The last bag felt like it might break, so I brought the whole bucket to our outdoor compost bin It wasn't a big deal because the bin is super easy to detach and re-attach to the mounting system. Also, I'll add that it's probably a little worse for me because I use the bags for a week and put tea bags and other wet items into the bin.ALSO! Apparently compost caddy has a new design that with a vented lid that keeps the carbon filters fresh for longer. I think I prefer the solid lid because (at least in my mind) it would keep the odors in the bin better, right? Well, you may want to at least check out the new design because it's apparently an improvement.Overall I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it.Happy composting!

Review for Kitchen Compost Caddy
We purchased the Kitchen Compost Caddy about a month ago. We're generally very happy about the product except for one little thing. The carbon filter on the right would fall down when I open the lid. However, that's not a big deal as I just put a tie on it, then it works perfectly. We'd recommend it to other people.Pro :Super easy to install.Fits perfect under sinkSturdyStorage for compose bags is great.Carbon filter is great.Con:The carbon filter on the right keeps coming off, so I had to use a tie to prevent it from coming off. I Like It and It's American Made!
Having used an under the sink, dense, heavy plastic compost caddy for more than twenty five years, I was, at first glance, very dismayed when I took out of the box, this light, flimsy looking "Kitchen Compost Caddy Under Sink Compost System". Over the last four or five years I've sent back or gave away ones I did not like for one reason or another and have repaired the hinges and bail on my old one many times rather than give it up. I carried it outside almost daily to dump into our large compost tumblers which certainly wasn't easy on it. I could not picture this new one holding up under such stress. Then I read about the compostable BioBags and examined the metal holding component with it's pocket for holding a box of the BioBags and it's movable holder for holding up the lid while two-handedly being able to deposit waste into the caddy and I decided I'd give it a try.The BioBags did not come with it, so I used some non-compostable bags I found that were a bit large and ordered some of those advertised. The two openings under my sink were only twelve and a half inches between the frame. I've been using the left side all these years and did not want to change. The metal piece at the top of the device meant to hold the caddy was too wide. I cut it to 10 and three quarter inches, removing a piece on the right side, drilled one hole on the same side and mounted it to the door. The caddy seated well.Temporary bags worked OK as I waited for the BioBags. I did not like emptying them and placing them in the trash. I've used this caddy for more than two months now and especially like the compostable BioBags as I can just toss them into the tumblers and not have to take the caddy off it's perch and carry it out to the compost tumblers or throw away dirty plastic bags. I found the fastener that holds the cover down works best because of the bags as it helps hold the cover in place with a gentle push just beneath it. Also, the bags form a seal around the lip the cover rests on and I seem not to have occasional occurrences of fruit flies as once I did.I like it so much, I've bought a backup of the caddy itself. The way it is working out, I may have wasted my money as it may outlast me. I highly recommend this product. It is the best I've tried and better, in may ways, than the one I used for more than twenty five years.Rob Martin

Works very well
Easy to install. Works well. Really like the lock feature that keeps the lid up when I am chopping up lots of stuff. Gets heavy and closes the door so hard have to get creative with my knees to prop door open for the quick use (like when breaking eggs etc.). but that is probably more to do with my cheap cabinets then the caddy. Did not get a compost bag with my unit, so can't comment to that.

It mounts easy in just seconds
This is the way to handle your kitchen compost. It mounts easy in just seconds, it's out of the way and it holds a good amount of compost. It doesn't have any smell with the carbon filter system. The lid snaps up when using on the counter and it snaps up and is held up with a magnet also. No more unsightly compost container on the counter.I would highly recommend this for anyone who likes to keep kitchen scraps for compost.I also purchased the bio bags and they work awesome also. Just take the bag out and throw it in the compost pile. They don't leak and seem to be very strong so far.Very pleased.
