Ubiquiti UniFi US-8 PoE Powered 8 Port Managed Gigabit Switch with PoE Passthrough

The switch works as expected, excellent throughput, decent features for the price. The seller, however, sent me a used product which was not indicated in the description. The switch has minor scratches and was missing the quick start guide. I could not adopt it in Unifi Controller until doing a manual reset and rebooting because it was already adopted by another controller.

Got this as a managed switch, not for Poe. Works well, definitely seems more complex than a Cisco switch. Works better with a USG but I don't have that so I'm using a DHCP ran on ubuntu for the individual vlans. Speeds are good. You also need a ubiquiti controller but that's easy to set up on an ubuntu vm. Hardware is nice too. Works well for my small homelab use case.

I have several ubiquity products now and continue to be impressed at the features that are made available in what i'd consider such a low end price. Vlanning, network mapping, power over Ethernet, multiple wifi ssids, all managed from a single interface and with regular firmware updates available.

Excellent product. Ubiquiti doesn't offer a Military/Veterans discount.

Product is amazing! But remember if you are going to return it you will not get a full refund.

Not sure why t he rate features includes "Wifi" because this is just a PoE switch, however the product is very nice and meets my needs. However.....the time to get the product from purchase to receiving was completely unsatisfactory. If a product is listed as Prime eligible, the shipment should not take over a week to receive.

I bought this by mistake because it mentioned POE in the title of the product ... however, once I got this switch hooked up - I quickly realized, this switch only has pass through POE (which is dumb - and rarely necessary) - and does not have actual POE, thus - I can not power my new access points, which require POE.The actual POE ubiquiti switch is about $20 more. So, this whole snafu delayed my whole project multiple days to wait for a new switch.In general - Ubiquiti switches are way over priced. The only reason I'm ordering this is to keep everything under one User Interface.

Estoy encantado con este Switch, de hecho estoy pensando en cambiar un Cisco de 48 puertos por el Ubiquiti de 24 puertos, después de llevar unos meses con el, el sistema UniFi (lo tengo instalado en un contenedor Docker dentro de un equipo que tengo con xpenology) es muy cómodo y fácil de configurar, tanto por web como por app para el móvil hacer cambios en las vlan está al alcance de todos, además, cuando haces los cambios estos se guardan automáticamente, y si se reinicia el switch los mantiene, mientras que en el cisco ya me tiene pasado que había pensado que había guardado la configuración, irse la luz, y darme cuenta que me han dejado de funcionar varias vlan por no tener la configuración correcta (obviamente no es un fallo del switch que no grabes la configuracióin, pero si te descuidas puede ser un gran problema)

Eine Variante mit 60 Watt PoE Versorgung auf LAN 5-8 [UniFiSwitch 8 60W] und eine nur mit durchgeschliffenen PoE auf Port 8 [UniFiSwitch 8]. Letzterer ist der hier angebotene Switch.)Um zwei Synology DS (1x 4 Port Aggregation, 1x 1 Port) und den UniFi Cloud Key im Keller zu betreiben habe ich diesen UniFiSwitch 8 mit durchgeschliffenen PoE gekauft.Er lässt sich über den Controller gewohnt großartig verwalten. Läuft stabil, ist schnell, belastbar, bekommt regelmäßig Updates und ist extrem hochwertig verarbeitet.Ganz klare Kaufempfehlung.Eine Besonderheit die ich vorher nie in Erfahrung bringen konnte:Die Spannungsversorgung vom Switch läuft wahlweise über PoE an LAN Port 1 ODER über das beiliegende Netzteil.Was bedeutet das: Bei der Versorgung über PoE an LAN 1 geht der Switch komplett aus im Falle dass z.B. das Kabel am vorgeschalteten Switch gezogen wird oder dieser (z.B. wegen einem Update) neugestartet wird.Das wiederum bedeutete bei mir, dass auch der Cloud Key hart abgeschaltet wird da er am PoE Port (LAN 8) vom Switch hängt und so seine Versorgungsspannung bekommt. Bekanntermaßen mag der aktuelle (Plastik-) Cloud Key diese Art der Spannungsunterbrechung nicht besonders und reagiert häufig mit einem Totalausfall den man nur mit dem Einspielen eines Backups beheben kann. Das ist lästig. Aber Generation 2 des Cloud Keys steht in den Startlöchern, dieser wird einen Akku zum sauberen Herunterfahren haben um genau dieses Problem zu lösen.Wird nun der Switch separat über das Netzteil versorgt bleibt alles an, ganz egal was woanders passiert.Beachten muss man dann nur im Gegensatz zum Betrieb über PoE auf LAN 1, dass die PoE Versorgung auf LAN 8 bewusst im Controller angeschaltet werden muss, sonst bleibt der Port dunkel.Anzuraten ist dann auch eine eventuelle PoE Versorgung am vorgeschalteten Gerät was über LAN 1 verbunden ist zu deaktivieren. Bei einem kompletten System Neustart kann es sonst sein, dass der Switch sich seine Versorgung über PoE anstatt dem Netzteil holt, ein Failover aufs Netzteil gibt es hier dann leider nicht.Ach ja. LAN 8 hat bei diesem Switch im Gegensatz zum UniFiSwitch 8 60W KEINE automatische PoE Erkennung. Bei aktivem PoE bitte dann keine Geräte an diesem Port anschließen die die Spannung am LAN Anschluss nicht vertragen sondern wirklich nur reine PoE Geräte...

If you are into the UniFi ecosystem you will love this switch, if you're not, and are struggling with slow wifi and netorking, then get into Unifi, you wont go back to consumer grade networking, I promise you.From looking at the photos, I kind of thought this was a POE powered switch, well don't worry, its not, it comes with a PSU BUT a Euro "Clover" lead, so make sure to order a UK lead too.Adding it to my Network it replaced a Netgear Pro Save GS108T, which until now I considered a pretty damn good switch, (some, Smallnetbuilder for example, will say Gigabit switches are a commodity item, they are basically all the same,). Now my network consists of:Unfi Security Gateway, which connected to the GS108T, which then ran off to various other switches, (including the 60W POE Unifi, and a Netgear GS724T in my study). Most of my network is Link Aggregated with 2 Cat 7 Cables between managed switches.We have Virgin Cable and the Gamer package (200/20) and according to Speedtest.net were getting 220Mbps Down and 21 Mbps up but strangely on my Mac, I was getting Ping speeds of approx 30MS, on wireless devices it was lower.I never quite got why this was, (only one of our WiFi Access points came off of the GS108T, the other three came off other parts of the network).Since installing, adopting, upgrading and configuring this switch , the ping has dropped to 7 MS on all devices.Basically then, its a fantastic bit of kit and a worthwhile addition to your Unifi kit, I liked it so much, I immediately decided to replace the GS724T with another switch, the only ones in stock were the Unifi 48 (Non POE) with 2x SFP and 2xSFP+. (I know, its overkill but the first part of me upgrading to a 10Gbe backbone? I reckon so it arrives today :)
