Maxon OD820 Overdrive Pro

Great sounding overdrive! I bought it as a boutique, true-bypass upgrade from my TS-9, and it did not disappoint. I had borrowed my son's for a recording session and was very impressed, so I knew what I was buying. I would highly recommend it!

I collect these pedals. This pedal is similar to a KLON. It has limitless clean boost, and can also be filthy.

Basic Maxon magic

One of my favorite overdrive pedals. Everything on and in this pedal is of very high quality. Taking the Klon as an inspiration, Maxon modded a Tube Screamer circuit to make it more full-frequency and added a dual-gang Gain pot. Also unlike a Tube Screamer, the OD820 is responsive to guitar volume and picking dynamics to achieve more or less distortion on a given setting.If you like the Tube Screamer, but wish it had a flat EQ and cleaned up with your volume knob, then this pedal may be for you. Buyer beware, this pedal is physically huge!

I was not a fan of this pedal once plugged in, it has a "layered" synthetic quality to the drive that totally overtook the sound of my amp. It was as if the only thing I was hearing/playing was the pedal, which in my opinion isn't the point of an overdrive. It's really strange to because it felt as if it was "fighting" with my guitar, when playing it was like the pedal was doing so much of the work that my guitar and amp were almost secondary. I really didn't like that, didn't fit my style, and quite frankly didn't sound good. It sounded like a ts808...through a solid state amp...Being I own a deluxe reverb, that shouldn't be happening.That said, this pedal gets three stars, because it functioned and may work for someone else, but for practical purposes fell far short of my expectations.

Best pedal ever!!!! if you stack it on top of other overdrive and distortion, it will make any crappy pedal instantly when you use the maxon clean boost mode on clean boost mode.. it is the pedal that makes every other pedal on your pedalboard sound better pedal!!!! Buy it now!!!!.

I bought this pedal about three months ago, i'm loving it more and more. Its probably the best overdrive Ive heard because its really transparent. You can crank it up to have a nice warm, crunchy, bassy drive but you can still hear the presence and clarity of the clean channel. Its wonderful. It is a tiny bit on the large side if you have a cramped board but you gotta love the vintage look.
