Harsh chemical smell, use in good ventilation.
Not sure if this purchase was a good one, however I used about 3/4 of one can and about 1/4 of what remained in an old can. I sprayed an American flag and about 9 cushions liberally as well as a double spray on the seems of an outdoor umbrella.First impressions: spray is noxious, even in an outdoor setting with a light breeze. Don't get too close so you don't end up inhaling this junk. If it repels moisture just imagine what it does to lungs. Also, the spray goes on thin, you have to hold it close to fabric to actually see it pool, otherwise I'd recommend spraying from about 3-5 inches away.I coated the fabric best I could and tossed the cushions aside to air dry. The flag I just hung back up. The spray can didn't drip, but you do have to control the nozzle so the compressed air doesn't all leak out leaving the actual liquid inside can.Shake can as you go.**So far from previous use I can't tell much of a difference, I suppose I'll notice it a few months from now. However, the spray is versatile. For large projects of for those who aren't content unless the fabric drips, I'd recommend more cans. For the price, these were smaller than the ones I bought at the place with the orange aprons, but not by much.**I only needed it for the outside stuff but would probably not buy again. This was pure impulse buying with the intent on protecting from elements and the truth is I don't think it will really work long term. Harsh sun, rain and humidity will destroy just about anything in its path. Things get moldy, dry and rip. Still, was worth a shot.50/50 as far as recommending goes.Again, use in a well ventilated area. I did, was downwind and I know I got the crap on me regardless. Chemical smell lingers. The material gets quite slippery until it dries. Again, 50/50 on the recommendation.and I wouldn't buy or do this again.

Great for outdoor items!
Classic protector, very good idea for someone like me who forgets to bring in items from the patio because I think I can do it before it rains again (ha ha, not) Dries quickly, works well A classic!

Good
Works well. We used this for our Ozark tent and the rain fly. We went to Walmart and bought a 3rd bottle to cover everything. Honestly Walmart is a bit cheaper than Amazon though!

Is helps with water RESISTANCE, not waterproofing
I bought another brand spray for outdoor furniture covers and was not to impressed. I wanted the water not to soak into the fabric after a time of wetness. Within 10 days I added the Scotchguard spray on top of that and followed the directions exactly. I can tell you you must wear gloves or use a bag to keep this stuff off your skin and you will absolutely need a covid mask to prevent inhaling the aerosol spray from getting into your throat and lungs. So how did the Scotchguard so? Well it's about the same as before. Not really waterproof from rain and heavy dew. The covers look cleaner for some reason after these treatments. Water sort of beads on the fabric but if this were a windbreaker you were wearing you would feel the water in the fabric. So that's all you get for some really expensive spray that you hope would cover a lot more acreage. Somebody must have cracked this code and I will keep on looking and wouldn't buy this again at this price or to get this job accomplished.
