Coyote, Vol. 1 (Yaoi Manga)

Amazing art! Zariya draws a noir, classy Paris with piano bars, mafia mansions, high-end brothels, and lonely streets with beautiful architecture. She renders a range of human emotion well beyond the genre's standard "wistfulness" and "climaxing". She also knows her anatomy.Particularly interesting is that the plot gives our heroes' romance some stakes, as their love cuts across a feud in Romeo and Juliet fashion, with likeable side characters who'd probably get hurt if things go south. Unlike in Romeo and Juliet, this is about intelligent, competent (and dangerous) men, so you care about them a little more, even if it isn't necessarily something new.

I had to read this one twice to see if I just missed something. It drew me in with the art and the summary. While the characters are interesting, [SPOILER ALERT] it is the standard, Romeo and Juliet trope . Which, when well written, is good[End Spoiler]. The plot was just weak in this, the focus was almost exclusively on the 'heat' of Coyote. If you are reading this for a sex scenes, it is a good read, it is light enough that you don't need to think too hard about the content.I loved the art, which is what brings it up to a three from a two. Beautifully drawn. This is not something for those who want a cute yaoi story.

This is an excellent opening volume! I already wait for the next one! As a clan of werewolves battles the mafia family that seeks revenge on them, two of them unbeknownst to their respective sides fall in love. I'm rooting for the werewolves! Josh and Coyote have a lot of figuring things out to do, but boy do they have some raaaawwr sex :-) Beautifully drawn, handsome hard bodies <3

This is one of the very first yaoi mangas I purchased when I first started getting into manga, and I’m glad I did. Loved this story so much. The character design and art is so pleasing to the eyes that I’d find myself rereading pages and even whole scenes just to catch more of the details. Zariya draws both male and female bodies so well, and all of their characters' expressions and facial details are diverse. Coyote alone has some of my favorite expressions I’ve seen so far in a manga, and (no doubt unfairly) I find myself comparing other yaoi mangas to this one when it comes to how much I enjoy how the bodies are drawn, and how the mangaka draws the explicit scenes.I loved that immediately we’re into the heart of the story with our two main characters meeting, and probably even better, the sex scenes are right there waiting for you. While the plot does move along and you discover more about the setting and how werewolves fit into it, this first volume focuses more on Coyote and Marleen’s budding relationship. Plot points were a little predictable, but that didn’t make it any less enjoyable for me. Forbidden love with a werewolf in heat thrown in to make it explicit definitely has me as a fan.This was the first work I’ve read by Zariya and I feel it was a wonderful entry into not only the beautiful work they create, but to yaoi as a genre. Coyote and the world he’s living in has me hooked and ready for future volumes.

I'm a sucker for Romeo and Juliet stories. Specifically, it's the family duty vs. romantic love conflict that's a hook. This also has cultural conflicts, supernatural humans, gorgeous characters, and beautifully drawn pages. The unique colors on the first pages might look best in print, which I'd like to see.Update: After reading this volume several times, I'm bumping up my rating. The details I missed the first time(s) improve the story with every reading.

Came in great shape. No tears on the book cover and no bends were made during shipping. Love the story behind this manga. It’s not smutty at all so that is nice for a change. Also isn’t your typical love story. More of a star crossed lovers feel to it. Also the visuals are very appealing as well as the writing style doesn’t leave you feeling like you lost some brain cells. I’ll be buying vol. 2 soon. But this was well worth the buy :)

I got book 1&2 as a valentines day treat for myself after the rave reviews, and it’s so awful, I haven’t finished them 5 months later and living in lockdown since march!Confusing, not sexy artwork leaves you trying to figure out what you’re seeing, and a dishwater thin story bores you to sleep.I regret the waste of money. One of the worst Yaoi manga investments I’ve ever made.

Read it online to start and loved it! Had to buy a copy. Can't wait for book 2! You can see that they have feelings for each other, but they're on opposite sides. But you can't really say who is right and who is wrong because both groups have attacked each on purpose. Especially since one group is a werewolf pack and the other is a mafia group.

Très bon BL a la "romeo et Juliette ". Un loup qui couché avec le fils de la maison ennemie et qui, ne le se cachons pas, aimé quand même un peu beaucoup Josh...Parfait, différent de d'habitude mais je recommande.

I really enjoyed this manga. It was beautifully illustrated; I loved the use of colour for the first few pages. The story was unique and interesting and the author did a good job of creating compelling characters in such a short story. I will definitely be buying the next in the series.
