Could be a lot better especially at this price point
Before I get into this I'd like to touch on a few things. I have 5 other Tacklife products, two of which being a tape measure and a laser measure. So I've come to trust this brand somewhat and being that the product in question is a 2-in-1 measure I can compare this product to the two others and tell you if this is worth a 2-in-1 or just get the other two actual measures. This 2-in-1 has a few really good things going for it: the blade is nice, the hook seems durable and is magnetic as well as adjustable, it's auto-locking, the release button is nice as it seems well made and feels good to use, and the case seems pretty durable.Current gripes are the hassle of recalibration, the crooked and probably damaged belt clip, the bulk, and the location and use of the laser measure itself. And the lanyard. The tape measure itself, not counting the laser measure on the side sticking out like a sore thumb, is still larger than the 25ft Tacklife tape measure. Not by much, but it still is crazy how a longer tape The buttons for the laser measure are a little difficult to press when you're trying to take laser measurements in general and is greatly cumbersome (and understandably lacking function) when compared to the Tacklife laser measure. Overall having both the other items takes up a little more room, but you get the benefit of easier and better tools for basically the same price. They could have also made the case more box shaped to make it easier to actually use the laser measure aspect. It's sort of boxed but curves in areas to keep it "ergonomic" I guess, which is pure speculation on my part. Maybe I just have a slightly defective unit, but I cannot get the laser measure to be within a 16th of an inch off, which is promised on the store page for it's accuracy. The best I can get is 3/16 or a 1/4 off, which is a bit much in my opinion. I will continue to do some more testing to double check that the surfaces in question are not an issue before considering this for a return. Some additional almost forgotten gripes, the belt clip can make it difficult to get measurements with the laser if you have to put it's side to a surface and are unable to but it against a wall. The lanyard as well is annoying when you try to but this against the wall for a measurement and often gets in the way. I would have preferred the print on the underbelly of the blade to be on the overhead. In the picture it shows two sides of the blade, one with little markings at intervals. 1/8th, 1/4th, 3/8th, etc. I find these convenient but sadly they're on the underbelly side of the blade. Sorry if that sounds odd. I had originally used top and bottom, but I'm going to use those in differently right now so I had to change it. The markings are on the top side of the blade which I liked a lot, I have a Komelon that has it on the bottom and I usually measure from the top and not the bottom making those markings wasted. Minor complaints on the marking bit. I remember when they never had anything like that, or magnetic hooks, or auto locking at all. But this new stuff is great and I just wish that it would have been marked on the top. They could have also cut down on the side bulk by maybe building the laser into the case or something. There are other 2-in-1s that don't seem to have the side bulk and I'm not sure what they sacrificed to get it, but I think something could have been done to make using the laser measure easier or more viable. There are multiple listings of this product, one of which is out of date and lists the price as 77 USD while this one is 35 USD. Some of the comments seem to stem from people having difficulty not reading the manual or understanding technology, so to help I'll mention a few things. First there are only two buttons, a Read and a Unit button. When you toggle modes, calibration, and unit measurements it will cycle through the possibilities in only one direction. This is kind of annoying, but also not confusing. If it's beeping constantly and not reading, odds are you held the read button and put it on continuous read. If no distance is being displayed then you're moving it around to spasmodically while it's in continuous read. To change the units displayed press and hold the Unit button while the device is on, which you do so by pressing the Read button. Once. Its difficult to accidentally turn it off as you must, while it is one, press and hold the Unit button then, quickly after that and still holding it down, press and hold the read button. Being slow will cause it to register unit measurement cycling. You can turn it on easily by just pressing read, and I can see that happening accidentally if you tend to brush up or bump into things often. You will have to manually install the batteries when you first get it, they give you two and a screwdriver. Personally I'd prefer it if the screw wasn't built into the plastic cover of if they used that curved plastic with resistance so it would be screwless. Once the screw on the lid is stripped then you will have to jury rig means of closing the lid or buy another. To calibrate the laser measure you must press and hold the Unit button and then the Read button then immediately after it comes on let go of both and then press and hold the Unit button again. Then it cycles from -9 to 9 for the calibration with only one direction. You save your selection by pressing Read. If you're too slow it will just toggle the units again. If you try this while it's on you'll just turn it off. If the laser measure is off to begin with you will be in for an annoying time checking each calibration to see if that fixes it. If the measurement is still off you will need to try another calibration.UPDATE: It's been a while and I got to test the product some more. I'm sorry to say I can't recommend it it any form or way and that you'd probably be better off buying the two other products separately instead of a 2-in-1. I was also contacted by TACKLIFE's customer service and they gave me a free laser measure and a full refund... on the wrong product. So unlike some other reviews saying they had no service when they needed it, I got service when I didn't ask and they had a mistake on it. I ended up refunding the item through Amazon for almost the full amount. I changed the rating from 3 stars to 1 star. I'd like to point out in this case this is not because of the service, but because of the product itself and as it currently stands, if I were to rate the seller/company TACKLIFE I'd give them 5 stars so far. Maybe 4. This is because my experience with this 2-in-1 makes me believe this is a horrible product. As I wrote earlier I have 5 other products of theirs, well now 6 with two being the same, and I stand by those as functioning and good. I might as well point out that the laser itself differs from device to device. In order to get the same readings the older laser is calibrated at a -2, while the newer one had to be calibrated for +2.

Much better than the IKEA tape measure
Call me lazy, but this little gadget is quite handy when measuring package dimensions (especially for the calculation of dim weight). I used to use a much cheaper tape measure from IKEA to measure these, although I got tired of pulling the tape back and forth especially across longer packages. With this measure, I just put my hand towards the end of the package and double tap on the "Read" button from the front of the package. The result with two decimal points then shows up on the LCD a fraction of a second later without having to mess with the tape itself nor having to read between the markings to figure out what the real value is. Unless I move my hand or the measure slightly, the readings are consistent throughout multiple tests and they also confirm with a physical read with the actual tape.I have also tried to measure the distance across a hallway so I can determine the length for an Ethernet cable installation. The measure worked out great under those conditions as well. For smaller areas, the measure has a feature where you can include the length of the measure itself so you can measure the distance of something like a windowsill while still having the measure on a supported platform. Interestingly, the measure also has a feature where it can continuously do reads using its laser pointer, although it makes constant beeps while you are inside this mode and after each read. I haven't had the need for this feature yet, although it may be useful when you are trying to target a very specific length for a project you are doing.Lastly, the tape itself on the measure has a very thick font and is very easy to read. Unlike the IKEA tape measure which has no markings in the back, this one also has the measurements on the back side plus fractions every 1/8" and inner markings every 1/32", up to 1ft long. Pulling the tape does not engage the LCD nor output a digital reading, although most of the times I find reading the length using the laser pointer is adequate for my purposes.Overall, this is a great combo measure. It is a bit bulkier than the IKEA measure, although I haven't found that to be an issue. The only pet peeve I have with this measure is that you need a screwdriver to access the battery compartment. That said, the battery seems to last quite a long time on this so I probably won't have to deal with replacing the batteries for quite some time.

Rock solid tape measurer, strong & accurate laser, heavy duty tape with magnetic end.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Spring broke in my old tape, found good reviews on this one, surprised to see a laser attached, which was the selling point, and also my favorite two colors matching my other tools. After receiving, found that the laser is very accurate, rock solid design with rubber corners, you won't break this one by dropping it. Laser is high powered, very accurate, hard to show in pics, so I did a small video to help show how nice this one is. Very accurate, feels good in your hand, clips to my belt, and real nice to have a quick laser read on something just out of reach for the tape. Just awesome, no cons, could not find a one, where I am very happy with the purchase.

Great laser measure for the money!
This tape measure is awesome! I love that you can use the laser to measure and that it has the digital read out so you can quickly and accurately take a measurement. It also has a lot of features. You can have the laser measure from the front like you would with the tape, or you can have it measure from the back if you have it against a wall. You also have many different ways to read out the measurements, for example all inches, feet and inches, or meters. This tape measure has made quick work of the project that I bought it for. Less time reading and more time cutting is always a great thing!

Awesome tape measure but the clip
This tape measure is actually really nice and the laser measure is really easy to use. Everything is great about the tape but the clip broke the first day, it is metal and dont think I was overly hard on the clip but still ended up breaking. Either way I'd still buy again. Clip is only reason for the 4 star

Not 'exactly' as described, but built well.
According to the product description, the tape in the unit is both metric and imperial. As shown in the attached image, you can plainly see that the tape is 'strictly' metric. Fortunately, the laser component can display both metric and imperial units. Had the tape been labeled in both metric and imperial units, I would have given it five stars. The overall quality of the laser tape is quite good and it should work well in harsh environments.Update: the item received was a model SW-TM40 but had a SKU labeled TM-L01. It also didn't include batteries

Nothing
I understood the tape measure would give a reading in the digital display. It does not.
