Mercy Watson Here She Comes!
Oink! Oink! Did you hear that sound? That's the sound of Mercy Watson walking down Deckawoo Drive finding her way to the Watson's house. It's usually an ordinary day at the Watson's house. Suddenly a piglet appears on their doorstep. Then the mischief begins and so does the story of how Mercy came to be the most famous piglet in the town.We give Mercy 5 stars because it is a funny and entertaining book for elementary aged children. Eugenia the neighbor can't believe there's a pig next door. The illustrations are hilarious and make the book exciting to read. Kate DiCamillo uses good descriptive words such as extraordinary, absurd and unpredictable.Overall, we think this book is extraordinary! We think you will love this book too!By: Mrs. Erfourth's 2nd Grade Readers

Great introduction to Mercy
I was searching for chapter books that might be good for my 4 year old grandson and discovered the world of Mercy. I purchased A Piglet Named Mercy as a way to introduce him to the characters and to gauge his interest. After reading it, I was a bit skeptical about whether the illustrations and story line would resonate with him. Boy, was I wrong! He loved it! While keeping him for a long weekend, we read the book at least 15 times! He already has it memorized and I can tell he is ready for reading on his own. Next purchase will be a couple of the chapter books!

Love this author
Love mercy books my five year old who loves pigs started getting them at the library because of the pig on the front, but we love the stories even though the were a little old my big boys 3-5 would sit and listen to them because the author is excellent at making the words flow. They also love the pictures. this one is going to be a bit with all of them, but I got it for the baby because I believe it will build her interest in reading. Every library should be full of Kate DiCamilo books!

Short, but a great introduction to Mercy!
My kids love the Mercy Watson series so this book was a must have for them. The book is definitely geared to a younger age than the chapter books and although I was disappointed at how short the book was, my kids didn't seem to care (they're 3 and 5). This book quickly became a favorite, they love hearing about how Mercy became a part of the Watson family. The illustrations are just as fantastic. We really love everything about all the Mercy Watson books and would love to read even more of her crazy adventures!

A Piglet Named Mercy
An adorable and creative book about a piglet joining an ordinary family!! The characters and the setting are interesting and fun! My two year old LOVES this book, as I often get bedtime requests for the “piggy book”!Kate DiCamillo is a fantastic, gifted author. I used many of her chapter books in my fourth grade reading class, when I taught also!!

Fun Origin Story
We're so glad they decided to make this story. We love all of the Mercy books and were sad they might be done! This would be a great introduction to the bigger 'chapter' books.

Charming Picture Book for Little Ones
A Piglet Named Mercy is a new favourite at our house. We purchased this book as a gift for our daughter’s second birthday. We have probably read it 20 times already, and our enjoyment of this sweet and simple story has not waned. This lovely picture book is a prequel to the Mercy Watson transitional chapter books. It tells the story of how Mr and Mrs Watson came to adopt Mercy, and how Mercy first discovered her love of toast with a great deal of butter. As this book is designed for parents to read to their child, the vocabulary used is richer and more varied than that found in the Mercy Watson chapter books. The illustrations are gorgeous and inviting, and help to create warmth and spark conversation. We particularly love the ending of this book which will resonate with how most parents feel about their own sweet babes! A worthy addition to any picture book collection.

A perfect prequel to an amazing series
The students I teach a as a substitute love this series. I picked this series so the students would know that I was the teacher that read Mercy stories. It was a great way to connect with them. As a substitute you need all the tools you can get. They have fell in love with Mercy as have I. Also pleased to note that after purchasing this book, I wrote the illustrator with the student's questions about Mercy and the illustrator happily wrote back. Such a fun loving series of books.
