Digital Design and Computer Architecture: ARM Edition

The best book on Digital Design/Computer Architecture!Used this book as a supplement to the Computer Organization and Design textbook required for my class and I was finally able to understand concepts and get my project working in Verilog.I highly recommend either the ARM or MIPS edition as appropriate to your class/project.

Very detailed overview of building a microprocessor both in the theoretical sense and practical implementation using HDL. It takes you through designing a simplified ARMv4 CPU that performs several common instructions.

This book is overall pretty great. It covers all the basic material that you need to know with simplicity. I recommend this book if you really want to know the details of an ARM processor.

This is a very well written book. The wording understandable, but doesn't lose its accuracy or "dumb down" the subject. It covers all the bases needed for some pretty decent digital design (all the way up to a simple MIPS processor). Informative and thought-provoking problems at the end that really tested the knowledge of the subjects. Would recommend for anybody who is new to the subject but wants a good introduction!

Great book for programmers who decided to pick up electronics. Starts with basics such as a boolean algebra and continues into the CPU design.

I took a digital design class and hated the book. The material is dry in nature, so there's not much you can do to make an enticing design/architecture book. I'm in computer architecture now, and my school is using this book for the first time. I freaking love it. Something about it makes me want to read the whole thing. The art really takes away any intimidation, and the lessons are very concise. Some might feel that there is not enough info in here, but I say "that's what teachers are for!" Anyways, water spilled on my copy and I almost cried. I think I'm going to keep it forever.

This book provides a great introduction to digital design and computer architecture. I have learn many things, specifically how to design various carry adders with differing costs and performance.

Good book

It should be said that this book is a platform. From which someone with little knowledge of digital logic at the start of the book by the end may be able to apply their knowledge to understand in great depth how a microcontroller works - with a specialisation in ARM controllers, although the book begins from a more general standpoint. I would argue that it is particularly aimed at scholars and other academics wanting to learn more about computer architecture but also follows on from the A-Level standard of Computer Science.

I really enjoyed the book. It takes the reader from the very basics of digital design to implementing a (simple) processor. It is written well. The chapter on the processor implementation alone makes it well worth the money.

El mejor libro sobre Diseño digital y arquitectura de computadores, viene el ingles, pero es una completa maravilla, volvería a comprarlo una y otra vez, lo malo, es que viene el ingles, pero bueno, así se practica
