Droll Yankees YCPT-360-M Yankee Tipper Bird Feeder, 5 lb, Black

This anti-squirrel feeder is the bomb! It's a quality piece, easy to assemble, easy to clean, and easy to refill. And...it actually works in being squirrel-proof! It works so well that after about a week, the squirrels no longer even try. They just gather the seeds that lay on the ground. It has been such a joy watching the birds come and feed in the mornings and late afternoons. It's become quite the attraction. We now have the neighborhood diner for squirrels.I felt I was taking a small risk as this feeder is not inexpensive. But it works so well and the value is so great, this morning I ordered another one!Dec 2023. We've been using it for nearly six months now and I am more convinced now than ever before. This is an amazing feeder and is worth every penny we spent. The squirrels actually learn to stay away despite their best efforts to get to the seeds. It's easy to full and maintain and seems, except for one minor concern, to be incredibly durable. The battery holds a charge, but the longer we leave it out, the less frequently it needs to be charged because the squirrels learn to stay away. When it does need to be cleaned and charged, it's an easy and quick process.Our feeder area has become an incredible community center for the birds in our area. We spend early mornings and lazy afternoons amazed by the number of birds that show up. Trying to identify them all can be a challenge! One benefit is that, while the perches are better suited for small birds, the seeds that fall to the ground attract larger birds as well.I'll attach a picture of the lid to the feeder. It's made of rugged metal and shows the evidence of some squirrels that managed to get on top and tried to gnaw their way into the seed chamber. This is a well-thought-out design!Our only minor concern is the container for the seed. It is showing a faint crack near the top. I am going to investigate whether replacements are available. It will be a small price to pay for all the enjoyment we get form this feeder.

The Yankee Droll flipper bird feeder is excellent. It really is squirrel-proof, but it is also extremely high quality. I purchased it from Amazon on January 2, 2019, and now is March 28, 2024. The power stick still holds a charge after 5 years. A few days ago, I had a foot of heavy, wet snow on my metal roof. The snow slid off the roof and hit the bird feeder shepherd's hook, bending the shepherd's hook and sending the feeder flying. The force of the heavy snow was so strong the rotating perch base detached from the feeder and was buried under the snow. It took me 2 days to find the perch base under the snow. I dried the base off, recharged it and it still works. The polycarbonate feeder tube did not break. If the feeder ever needed replacing, I would purchase it again. It's nice to see a high-quality product for a change.

I bought this and then didn't use it until just before the return window shut. I was questioning my purchase at this price. I AM GLAD I KEPT IT. Pricey yes but I can already see I am not going through as much seed and the entertainment value is awesome!Good quality product. The lid and bottom are all metal The reservoir is heavy plastic. It would be too heavy if that were glass plus, if it were knocked down, that would be an expensive replacement.We have been using it for a couple weeks now and am very happy.

Finally!!!After numerous “squirrel proof” bird feeders I have found the holy grail. The Droll Yankee flipper bird feeder is the pinnacle of squirrel proof bird feeders. It is engineered with quality and ruggedness in mind. It is extremely sturdy in extreme weather conditions, easy to clean and especially easy to refill with Black Oil Sunflower seeds (highly recommend). Even the most tenacious squirrel has been defeated by this feeder. There is a certain joy in watching them slide of the long tube or even more so being thrown off the rotating perch. I wish I had captured the sight of seeing one particular squirrel do a complete 360• while holding on by one hand to the rotating perch. AWESOME. most of the squirrels have relegated themselves to the scraps left by the birds and on occasion I get to watch another unsuccessful attempt by an emboldened squirrel. The rechargeable battery has a long life between charges. In fact currently it’s still very strong after 3 months. It’s easy to remove and to put back into the feeder. Now for a few cons, the price is steep. At $140+ it expensive for a bird feeder. However, it works!! You won’t have any squirrel eating through any of the components or destroying your feeder, they won’t steal the bird food or hang from it spilling seeds out..**Be aware**From personal experience: the perch base spins promptly with what seems like the slightest of pressure, so be very careful once you turn the power on to the perch. The instructions are very clear and do warn you of this. The perch seemed as if it were so sensitive to MY finger pressure there would be no way four birds could all be on at the same time. I was mistaken. The Droll Yankee Flipper was once again, superior. The perch allowed for almost every size bird from finches, sparrows, and Cardinals to jays and dove to be perched at the same time. In conclusion I must say; I have used untold “squirrel proof” feeders and nothing has come close to the performance and function of this feeder. Expensive, yes! But worth every penny. It’s rugged construction, elegant design, overall performance and pure entertainment value make this product a must have.UPDATE: And a decrease in stars! so the NiCad battery has finally died despite a 18 hour recharge that lasted roughly a day. As another review stated, “How 1990’s to have a NiCad battery”. To have to spend another $60-$70 for a battery that lasts at tops 2 years is pretty sad. I agree. How about a lithium ion battery. Very frustrating

This works exactly like the description says. It is so funny to watch the squirrels........some hang for a long time.......others fly off right away. Very enjoyable. It is a bit expensive for a bird feeder but it is great entertainnent.

This bird feeder is a great. Quality made!My only dislike is that it's on the larger side meaning length and having to find a much larger pole for mounting. Too close to the ground for my liking with my existing pole. Holdes a lot of seeds.

I've tried other squirrel proof feeders, but the flipper is the only one so far that has stymied the squirrels that live around our home! The only disappointment has been only seeing one squirrel spin around so far, they don't seem to want to try too often. Battery life seems very good so far too, after the initial charge, I haven't had to recharge in the month I've had the feeder up.

Performs as expected. Good quality.
