I first learned of James as a figure photographer. Upon seeing that book, I learned of his career in fashion photography. But, in this book, I learn also that fashion photo is figure photo. An outfit can't look right if the wearer isn't right. So, the proper study of fashion photo must be study of the figure wearing it. Sorry - sometimes I need things explained to me.This collection's first section titles itself 'Nudes'. Well, it is. Slender, 20-something models at the height of what the fashion world calls beauty. Well, it is. There is a whole world of different ways for all kinds of women to wear their skin in pride and joy, and this picks just one of those ways, but this beauty is easy to access. This sets the pace for more to come after.Next chapter: 'Fashion'. This seems to be James's bead and butter: finding some way for a gorgeous model to make some piece[s] of clothing look desirable. We've already been through "Nudes". The model is desirable. The clothing comes along for the ride. Or doesn't - there are as many portraits in this section, clothing limited or off-screen, as in the first section. James's basic joy in women's beauty comes through, even with the clothing on her that she's supposed to be modeling - except once in a while. If he finds lingerie to be an expressive or even performance art, so be it. I think of it more in terms of a lady's comfort. Or, when invited, as a kind of gift wrap.There's more, the 'Swim' section and 'Nomad'. I think that others, like Schatz, have done the under-water thing better, with greater use of weightlessness and buoyancy. Then Nomad seems to reprise one of James's books by the same name. This presentation, though, seems more elemental, more involved.Although each section of the book carries its own themes well, the uniting force catches my attention most. It's the portrait, the closeup on face and person that stands out in each section. I truly enjoy each model's contribution to this collection. But, I enjoy even more, seeing the moments when each unique woman shows something of herself. James catches those moments when being herself means so much more than just being undressed.-- wiredweird

Received item very fast and the condition was excellent. Very good book.

I had bought quite an amount of books from amazon over the past few months, including books from lebovitz, testino, avedon, besson, schatz, bourdin etc.... but this is simply my favourite. the pics inside are very inspiring and beautiful. quality paper was used. each pic will give u a very strong feeling.he is definitely one of the best photographer in portrait shooting among the younger generation.

I love this book, and i wish it got a little bit more nude in the book, but overall it's perfect, and absolutely for adults only, because i am a full grown man in my upper 20's on the way to 30.

I first saw Russell James work about two years ago in an Australian Top Model Quest. His work was absolutely outstanding, so much so that I have been a fan ever since. Because of my age I have been impressed and inspired by some of the World's best photographers. But Russell James's photography is simple magnificent. This is such a beautiful production. There is his commercial output spiced with some fabulous personal work in the "Nomads" section, and they mix well. Russell is deservedly one of the lauded shooters not only in Oz, but globally. Stands up there with Demarchlier and Knight as someone who can effortlessly cross boundaries between editorial and art

In a cold evaluation, the book can look a little bit the same, but page by page (huge and richly printed), through stunning pictures, it`s easy conclude why Russell James is the master!!!

I already own Russell James Angels book and love it that much I decided to purchase this one.I'm very happy I did! This collection is just stunning. The actual quality of the book is superb and the images are just effortlessly beautiful. Such a wonderful photographer!The book is a tad pricey but worth every penny! Highly recommend.

Russell James est depuis quelques années, le photographe attitré des pubs Victoria's Secret. Il nous offre ici un très beau livre. Les photos sont magnifiques.
