I've been wanting a new Japanese maple since my last one was destroyed but didn't want to pay $400 at a nursery for a small tree. Fast forward a few months and I'm looking at the Sequoia trees on here thinking how amazing one would be in my yard (even though I'd never see it grow that tall) but it turns out my zone is too cold for them. I started looking through this company's selection based off of zone compatibility and found the Japanese maple, which I didn't even realize they also sold at that time. It was $19 with $7 shipping, so I got a medium Japanese maple for only $26! I know I'll need to take care of it and there's no guarantee that it will survive over the years, but you can't really go wrong for that price. I got it early May and its not Aug 7th 2023 and it seems to be doing well. Keep in mind I also don't really know what I'm doing lol. All I know is that they don't like too much sun or they'll get sun burned and start browning at the tips of the leaves. See attached pic for how it's doing a few months after planting. Totally worth the price and I like the idea of growing my own vs buying one at the nursery for $500.

Nice little tree
Nice little maple tree, a bit tall and gangly from being in the dark box for a few days. Well packaged, healthy, thriving in a planter outside in filtered sunlight. A good purchase.

Adorable and healthy tree
It comes in a shipping tube so make sure to get it out ASAP and into some healthy soil. I plan on growing mine this winter in a pot with artificial sun light and then once spring starts and it's a bit larger and healthier, putting it outside since I have seen many of these trees thrive locally. it's a wonderful size, a few feet tall, and arrived basically perfect. If you are unable to afford $300 for a 5 foot tall potted japanese maple from the nursery... then this is a cost effective option for you to start your own tree from basically the bottom.

Favorite to me.
I like these at your price. Although they may not be suited for Hawaii it's doing okay. I hope in spring it will take off. Only getting them so small it will take a while to develop. I just purchased more. I'd like to train them and give to friends.

Half my tree was eaten
I wish I took photos. The tree arrived healthy and so far seems to be doing great. The only issue is that about 60 to 70% of the leaves looked like they were eaten by pests. I chopped the top of the tree off since I wanted to eventually make it into a bonsai anyways. So far I can see a few new growths coming in. fingers crossed it turns into something of sheer beauty! Also the top leaves that I removed had the pink outline which was pretty dope but sadly, they were all eaten. The package did arrive quickly and came in one of the mailer tubes. A bit tough to get out but I opened both ends and used my hand to push the roots up to not damage the plant. It also came with a paper that helps you understand different bonsai types etc. All in all I am happy with it will be even happier when it grows! I plan on buying more plants from the seller as they did good!

Hardy little guy
I got this plant in June, and was really healthy. I planted it in a pot, and kept it inside until I could see new growth, then put it outside and it seemed ok until we got the first heatwave, and brought it in when it was clear I was killing it. Almost all the leaves turned brown within a few days. I live in a desert, so hot days here are very different than hot days in most other areas. I've put it in an easy facing window getting some nice morning sun, and since it's been inside (maybe for about 3 or 4 weeks now), it's bounced back, and is now growing new leaves. I am really happy with this little guy, and would recommend this company.

Going strong one year later...
Purchased on 6/5/25 and still going strong. It grew about 2 inches after I received it and six more this month. I had to research if losing all of its leaves was normal for winter and apparently it was even though it looked more so dead than in abscission. I haven't seen any red color in the leaves yet, but it might need to grow some more plus I think it had trouble interpreting what season we were in because it never really received winter weather. I came back to buy more and was sad to see they're out of stock and it isn't known when they might return.
