An MCT oil comparison (fractions of other brands listed) and my personal experiences
SHORT REVIEW: Left Coast is a superb MCT oil—and I've tried many, including Brain Octane (which I also love). For me: Measurable blood ketone boost when I'm cycling OFF my ketogenic diet, brain fog clears up and strong memory & cognitive boost (I'm a health and psychology writer), and no GI side effects on an empty stomach. In "fractional fatty acid" composition, it's very similar to Bulletproof XCT at a much lower price. I've been using it daily for over 11 months now. Also: If you care about small-batched, high-quality-controlled sources of your foods and supplements, then family-owned businesses like Left Coast are worth supporting. Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with Left Coast or any resellers—just a guy who cares about the health of myself, my friends, and my family. LONG REVIEW FOR CONFIRMED BIO-HACKERS ONLY (C8 to C18 BREAKOUT COMPARISONS WITH SOME OTHER BRANDS I'VE USED): Left Coast MCT Oil (this product) C8 56% C10 44% With 1 Tb (tablespoon) of this plus 1 Tb butter in coffee, zero appetite for 4-5 hours. Perceptible boost from fatigue and brain fog, better short-term memory (about 13% when measured on luminosity's online app). When I'm OFF my HFLC (high fat, low carb) ketogenic diet, my Precision Xtra ketone blood meter shows 2-4 mmol/L over 0.5 baseline, after about 2 hours. Brain Octane Oil (Bulletproof) https://www.amazon.com/Bulletproof-Brain-Octane-Oil-Ounce/dp/B00R7FFYO8/ C8 100% This gives me about the same ketone boost (though for others I know, much higher than a C8/C10 blend like Left Coast), YMMV. XCT Oil (Bulletproof) https://www.amazon.com/Bulletproof-XCT-Oil-32-fl-oz/dp/B00R7FFR86/ C8 and C10 combined: (individual ratios not specified): 100% Very similar to the Left Coast product in terms of physical stamina, fatigue reduction, and mental clarity. NOW MCT Oil https://www.amazon.com/NOW-MCT-100-Oil-32-Ounce/dp/B0019LRY8A/ C8: 60% or more C10: 35-40% Other: 0-5% This does give me a similar ketone boost as Left Coast and Bulletproof XCT oil, but sometimes just a little stomach discomfort. Also, it raises my triglycerides (I use a Multicare IN blood meter for that). I don't know why. Sports Research MCT Oil https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XM0Y9SE/ C8 Caprylic Acid 34% C10 Capric Acid 28% C12 Lauric Acid 29% (really a long-chain fatty acid, some say to avoid for GI issues, but may have benefits) Other (not listed): 9% This gives me a similar ketone boost as Left Coast MCT oil, but I've stopped using it mainly because I'm hoping that maximum C8 and C10 per serving in other products will help my brain and physical stamina more. And, from wikipedia, here's the fractional breakout of PLAIN OLD UNREFINED COCONUT OIL: Caprylic C8 7% Decanoic C10 8% Lauric C12 48% Myristic C14 16% Palmitic C16 9.5% Oleic C18:1 6.5% Other 5.0% Are all those non C8 & C10 fractions (Lauric, Myristic, Palmitic, Oleic) “bad?” Controversial topic to be sure. Authors like Bruce Fife ("The Coconut Oil Miracle") and Mary Enig (biochemist and author of "Eat Fat, Lose Fat") cite benefits to whole coconut oil (anti-inflammatory effects, microbiome balancing, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial effects against harmful microbes, etc.). I'll leave the conclusions here for you to make. Hope this helps, and sincerely wishing you health and well-being - Andrew in Boulder, CO.

the packaging was excellent and the customer service has been outstanding so far
I'm writing this review with a few caveats, the primary one being I've only taken one teaspoon so far, but if I can help even one person by writing this it's worth it. And, yes, I'll update this once I've been taking it for a while. The reason for the five stars is because the delivery was quick, the packaging was excellent and the customer service has been outstanding so far. I received an email from the vendor that suggested I start with a teaspoon a day and let my body get used to it before increasing to 1-2 tablespoons per day. I'm glad I took their advice or what I experienced almost instantaneously could have been disastrous. Before I explain, here are the caveats I mentioned above. I've been on a keto diet for exactly four months and yesterday was the least keto day I've had since. It was a friend's birthday and I decided not to worry about keto and enjoy the festivities. I had popcorn at the theater with a mega large Coke, then a hotdog on a bun for dinner, and popcorn again later in the evening. I rarely eat popcorn these days, can't remember the last time I had a Coke and haven't had a hotdog since Opening Day of baseball season, which was in late March. Needless to say there were things floating around in my body that haven't been there for a while. The next caveat is that I consumed the oil on an empty stomach, which might have exacerbated the problems I had. Every day I drink black iced coffee at work and only add a little cream on the weekends. It's always a venti-sized cup and I drink about four per day during the week, but only one or two on weekends. Today I put a teaspoon of MCT oil in my coffee and before I was even halfway through with it I could fell the nausea coming on. It was mild and I never felt like I was going to vomit, but it was definitely there. Fortunately it passed relatively quickly and didn't interfere with my day. While I was doing yard work, I realized I needed to use the bathroom. One of the previous reviewers mentioned becoming a "poop cannon" upon using this oil---one of the funnier reviews I've read---and I have to agree, although this felt more like a nuclear warhead. I apologize if this is too much information, but fire hose immediately came to mind. But it didn't end there. After mowing the lawn I went to grab my weedeater to do some trimming, but needed a second trip to the bathroom where I had another bout of "cleansing" if you will. Frankly, it doesn't bother me when that happens as long as I'm close to a bathroom. I know it's my body's way of ridding itself of toxins and there were more toxins in my body than usual. So it's definitely possible that my bathroom experience would have been the same had I not taken the oil, but based on other reviews and the suggestion by the vendor to start slow, I'm almost certain it was a side effect. That said, the oil has no smell or taste and my coffee tasted like it always does. I can't attest to an energy boost yet because it's too early to tell and that I mowed and trimmed the lawn means little---I got plenty of sleep last night and it needed to be mowed. I wish I could say I took the oil and immediately had the urge to paint my house, pave my driveway, build a deck, etc., but that's not the case. Regardless, I have high hopes for this product and will edit my review when I have more experience with this product. Oh yeah, at another reviewer's suggestion I have a spare pair of underwear in my backpack just in case things go horribly wrong at work tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Don't Be Like Me....Heed the warning
After reading many reviews, I decided to purchase Left Coast MCT oil for multiple reasons. After receiving feedback from someone on my review of a moringa supplement and researching candida, I have reason to suspect that I may have an issue with intestinal candida. I am also one of the many fatigued adults who is always looking to gain more energy, preferably from natural sources. Next, I think my husband and I both could benefit from anything that would serve as an appetite suppressant. Because I did my homework in advance I was aware that A) this product comes in a plastic bottle, B) that the cap is not exactly spill/drip proof, and C) it can possibly cause GI upset for some. Knowing these things, I figured that if the product does what it claims, I can overlook the plastic bottle and the cap. However, I did not really put much thought into the GI upset and I went for the entire tablespoon on day one. Bad idea. Very. Bad. Idea. About 20 minutes after taking the oil, I could be found lying on the couch, in quite a bit of pain, encouraging myself to breath through the pain. One may have thought that I was my very own labor coach and that I was truly preparing for a delivery. TMI? Maybe, but you WANT to know this so you don't do the same thing. I did not even think about a second dose for that day and I would be lying if I told anyone that I wasn't afraid to try it again the next day. But I did. One teaspoon. While I was not totally without bloating or pain, it definitely wasn't bad enough to stop me from carrying out daily routines. I have worked my way up to 2 teaspoons without severe pain, so I think things are getting much better. So, why do I subject myself to this daily? Since day 2, I have noticed an increase in energy, which would be totally worth it even if it were the only benefit. However, I have also noticed that I am not as hungry when I take the MCT oil. Finally, I figure that if this stuff really does kill candida, the bloating that I experience after taking it may be the result of a die-off reaction and I probably shouldn't back off until I have no GI discomfort at all. Overall, I believe that it works just as described and for the energy aspect alone, I think it's worth it. My only advice is to heed the warning on the bottle. Start with 1/2 - 1 tsp until you get used to it.

good price, no taste or odour, and money back guarantee !
This is the first MCT Oil I have tried, and I am very happy with it after a week. The instructions included with the product said that some people might have stomach upset when they first consumed the product unless they first begin with only a small amount until their gut is accustomed to the oil. I used 1 tablespoon the first day and 2 tablespoons per day for the past 3 days, and I have not had any stomach upset, gas, or other negative side effects that a few reviewers have complained about. I have found the oil to have absolutely no taste or smell. Before buying this brand, I read the bad reviews for all of the MCT Oils listed for sale here. A few people have posted negative reviews complaining that every single brand on Amazon having a bad smell and taste, and saying their previous and favorite brand never has such problems. Even though thousands of buyers have posted very positive reviews for each brand and reported no such problems with foul tastes or smell, there are a few reviews that make the same complaint with every brand, but never say the name of their "prefered brand". Since these bad reviews were always outnumbered by hundreds or thousands to one, I picked a brand that was cheaper, organic, had a money back guarantee, and had nearly a thousand 4 or 5 star reviews. I only gave this product 4 stars rather than 5, because I would have preferred a glass bottle rather than a plastic one, but the only brand that used glass ones had lots of complaints that the bottle was difficult to pour from without lots of drips and spills. This bottle ships with one sealed cap that can't leak, and has a second flip-top cap to use once you open the package. The flip-top cap makes it much easier to pour controlled amounts without spilling or dripping. A pump dispenser would have even nicer. I have type 2 diabetes and am trying to lose weight and better control my blood sugar by semi-fasting 3 days per week with only 500 calories on those days. I don't eat meat, and I sometimes have problems with headaches and low blood sugar during the night after a 500 calorie day. After reading about some positive effects a Ketogenic diet can have with blood sugar problems, I decided to try an MCT Oil supplement to consume in the evenings to see if it might help me with my blood sugar level. It has only been 4 days, so I don't know about any long term benefits yet. In the short term, I have noticed that I feel less hungry overnight when I consume a cup of hot chocolate with a tablespoon of MCT oil, compared to the same calories with more milk and no MCT Oil. I have not noticed it acting more quickly as is reported because of different absorption pathways from the gut. I do think that I feel satisfied for longer than with equal calories of whole milk without MCT Oil Almost everything I had read online about MCT Oil recommends mixing with coffee. I tried adding it to my morning latte and didn't like it. It formed an oil slick on top of the coffee & milk that I didn't enjoy. It doesn't have any taste or smell, so the coffee tasted the same, but it had a very unpleasant greasy mouth-feel. Before bedtime, I enjoy having a mug of sugarless hot chocolate and tried adding the oil to it, with much better success. I normally mix either cacao or cocoa powder with a small amount of boiling water in a mug, then add milk, microwave, and then add a non-calorie sweetener. I added the MCT Oil to the hot water and cacao mixture before adding milk and heating. The MCT Oil seems to bind with the powder and emulsify in the milk much better than it did with coffee and milk. While I found the oil mixed with coffee and milk to be unpleasant feeling in my mouth, it was quite nice mixed with chocolate and milk. Unlike the greasy sensation mixed with coffee and milk, the MCT Oil and chocolate seem to help both emulsify better in the milk for a very nice and creamy feel and better taste. I'll order it again when I've finished this bottle.

Energy in a Bottle! (and Great for Keto/LCHF)
I bought Left Coast Performance MCT oil because I've recently started a ketogenic diet and needed to increase my daily fat intake. This was the brand I saw recommended by many people online, it had great reviews on Amazon, and so I tried it. I have NOT been disappointed! It has a very clean, slightly-sweet flavor (it's 100% from coconuts) and having this MCT oil makes it easy to get my daily fat macros. I use it in making bulletproof coffee/hot chocolate, salad dressings, and I also stir it into soup, which makes it taste "luscious", and pour it on anything "dry" (like the yolks of hard-boiled eggs). I have even swallowed a tablespoon by itself--it's silky and a tiny bit sweet. But, the really nice surprise was discovering that it gives me *incredible* energy. Many mornings since I've started taking this MCT oil daily, I wake up raring to go, which is pretty unusual. One weekend in particular, my husband and I were cleaning our garage and I suddenly realized that I'd been hard at work much longer than I'm usually up to. I actually remarked to my husband that 'I wonder if the MCT oil is giving me more energy?' He answered, "Well, it says that on the bottle." Since I only bought it to get more healthy fat in my diet, I hadn't even realized it affected energy levels so I checked the bottle and, sure enough, there it was: "All Day Energy". That is certainly not an exaggeration in my case! I've recommended it to my sister and a coworker and have already ordered my second bottle to ensure I don't run out! I can't speak to other brands of MCT oil as I've never tried them but Left Coast Performance MCT oil is fantastic and I thank them for selling such a high-quality product. NOTE: As other reviewers have pointed out, start slow (1 tsp.) and work your way up over time to a tablespoon or you could have gastrointestinal issues. I occasionally have tummy rumblings if I use too much, but it's nothing bad--I just got overexuberant about the amount I was using again because I love the results so much.

NO TASTE, noticed results within the first week! BUT- TAKE AS DIRECTED!!
After reading several reviews on what to expect...I was so amused by the warnings not to overdue the first few servings for fear of explosive diarrhea (I have children- these things now amuse me! Terrible, but so is not following directions on serving sizes) so I didn't dare disobey the instructions. I have a 12 and 13 year old, whom I gave both a half a teaspoon, and took one myself. I had mild stomach pain and a 'mild' bathroom visit, and my children had no issues, but my daughter's throat hurt a little after swallowing ( I would notice that too, but we all take our MCT oil straight without drinks). However, by about day three or four I started to notice surges of energy and focus, which was around the time I would get "in a fog" with my hormonal changes at that time. I was pleasantly surprised and by day three or four had already doubled my dosage with half tsp in the morning and night. The kids did the same, with no sleep issues at all, but bursting energy in the morning from my son and now my daughter. This review is only after a week and I am already excited. I have yet to get my ghee to make my bulletproof coffee, but for now drinking the MCT oil on its own is ok for the kids and I. Did I also mention that the kids ENJOY taking it? They say there is no taste, but enjoy taking it because they know it's derived from coconut oil, which they love. Can't wait to see more results from this wonderful product. Will try to remember to update my review in a month- should be up to 1-2 tbsp a day by then. Great product, great price, and as far as I can tell the quality is great too!

Another Healthy Additive in my Coffee
Superb quality and in the form that matters most(C8 and C10). Larger container lasts longer so that fewer plastic bottles end up in our oceans. I use a frother to mix two squirts in my coffee(saw this recommended by a doctor on YT).

Bueno
El producto es bueno, no tiene sabor. Sólo que la tapa chorrea mucho. A pesar de eso, llegó en buen estado pero con el uso, siempre se escurren gotas y hay que estar limpiando el envase.

My favourite so far!
Just received this new MCT oil, and so far, so good! I have a sensitive stomach so I actually started out with a little less than the recommended dosage, but I still felt it working as I felt more energized throughout my day. I just increased up to the normal dosage listed on the label and I haven't had any problems. I like to put the MCT oil in my morning smoothie with frozen berries, spinach, a banana, and water. Highly nutritious, and if you're like me and don't have an appetite in the morning, this is a great way to start the day. You can probably use something else other than water if you want it to be sweeter. What I really like it for though is with my coffee. Instead of mixing my coffee with milk/cream/sugar, I blend it with some MCT oil and a little bit of grass-fed butter and it tastes awesome, kind of like a slightly sweeter or richer latte, and I feel good throughout the day. From what I hear, the MCT oil and butter allows for a slower release of caffeine in your body, so it lasts longer and you don't crash, but I haven't looked into the exact science behind it. Otherwise, delivery was fast, no problems ordering, and no problems with the packaging or oil itself. It's a great size, as it will last me a while, but isn't ridiculous. I don't want to be constantly re-ordering, but I also don't need buckets of it, so it's a nice practical amount. The two caps is a nice touch. You receive an extra one that has a spout for pouring with a snap top. Lastly, there is a little insert/pamphlet in the box that can be easy to miss if you're not paying attention. It has some surprisingly good deals on it, e.g. 50% off next Left Coast performance product (not sure what else they have, but I'm going to use it for my next MCT oil). Overall, I would definitely recommend this MCT oil.
