Sleep Mask Connoisseur
I have been in search of the perfect sleep mask for a couple years ~ purchasing several from the more expensive (Tempurpedic) to the less expensive (Bucky) and several in between. Until this Infinity Sleep Mask arrived, I was mostly using the Bucky, which the velcro strap sits right above my ear and after a few nights, that skin is rubbed sensitive from the strap, not to mention light leaks around both sides of nose. When I opened the Infinity mask, I thought I would be sending it back because it looked too stiff, the straps seemed sewn into the mask too high to hold it in place. After washing my face and trying it on, I was pleasantly surprised and decided I'd keep it. I must say this mask is pretty close to perfect and does the best (out of the many I've bought), of maintaining a total black out!! The straps are higher therefore do not rub the skin at the top of my ears. It basically has two padded cups for your eyes, so you can still open your eyes. It stays in place pretty well and is very comfortable. (Disclaimer: I have an adjustable TempurPedic bed so I sleep on my back, turning my head from side to side). I'm not sure how it would do as side sleeper or stomach sleeper. It's by far the best I've tried and I'll definitely purchase another one. Occasionally it seems hot over my eyes, but then at my age (58) everything seems hot from time to time!!

Totally fine for side-sleepers like me
Fleece! Love it. And it is totally fine for side-sleepers who are like me (more on this below). The fleece is great for me because it doesn't irritate my skin. The other masks I've tried have all been made of some sort of nylon-ish type fabric and they have all given me a rash on my cheek under the one eye, for whatever reason. No irritation and no rash with this mask. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY: This is the best sleep mask I've ever used. And I've tried many many. This is the only one in my experience that blocks out ALL light. When I get it into the right position, no light comes in along the bottom (over the bridge of the nose) like you get with the other masks. The sockets are relatively cavernous (which is why the mask can completely block out the light) so there is no pressure on your eyelids, no contact with eyelashes, etc. Lastly, I know some other commenters have said that this mask is not for side-sleepers. Well, I'm a side-sleeper and I've figured out how to make it work. Maybe it depends on the type of pillow you use? Who knows. Personally, I just sort of bunch up the pillow so its narrower and then I place my head so the thickest part of the pillow hits right along my jaw bone. This is very comfortable for me. But I realize everyone is different.

Looking to tape this to a boat anchor and drop it into the Bermuda Triangle!!
Amazing that this product has, in 5 years, gone to the "Cheap Side". I have an older Infinity sleep mask that I bought on Amazon about 7 years ago. I just wore it out and ordered a new one that I received early in April 2020. I have worn it every night since I got it and here and this is a perfect example of how to make something cheap and sell it for more!. Firstly (is that a word?) the strap that goes around your head is just a cheap piece of elastic as opposed to my older one that had very little stretch and kept its shape very well. In one month, the elastic strap had shown signs of totally losing its shape, looks all stretched out. In addition to that, which is a MAJOR need for something that you put on your head each night, the 'ribbing that runs around the mask to keep your face from actually touching your skin has already flattened and who likes to try to sleep with the fabric rubbing your face. My older one and this one both have a tag that says "Infinity" so it seems that one of these may not be the real deal. There is really nothing more to this mask than make or break....two parts and this one has totally failed. Sorry for the wordiness of this review but sometimes we have to do an actual comparison and report the findings to the world, via Amazon. PASS on this version and try to find another supplier to buy from.

Velcro is not always a good solution
When I loosened the strap, the exposed Velcro closure got caught in my curly hair immediately. That was a deal-breaker right there. In order to check out other features, I tightened the strap enough to hide the Velcro. (My hair still found it, though.) The mask did not press on my eyes, though, and it blocked light well.If I wanted to recline and "rest my eyes" a while, it might have been okay, but this mask seems too thick for sleeping all night on the side or stomach. Even with the tight strap, I was nervous about the the mask sliding around my head if I turned over. Being aware of the mask the whole time, it wasn't restful. This is one of the more expensive masks, costing easily 2-3 times more than other highly rated masks on this site. The design is "interesting," but does it perform 2-3 times better? Well, I can't stomach a mask that tangles in my hair. Ugh, Velcro. I don't know why Dream Essentials chose not to use a slider or another closure as they do on some of their other masks. If you're a side/stomach sleeper and have a big or curly head, you've been warned.

even side-sleepers?
I wondered if I should buy this since I am a side sleeper. When it came I was impressed. It's very well made. It is built up around the edges to not put pressure on the eyes which is really nice. The material is thick and sturdy. I use it when I sleep in my recliner, which is most nights. I can lie on my side on my recliner with my neck pillow curled under my head so there is not much contact with the mask. It keeps out all light and is not hot, although one morning the house was pretty warm and it was a little sweaty under the mask. It hasn't happened since then. I waited a few months to review this to see if it really holds up. It does. I don't use it in bed since it is a real balancing act to get the pillow to not move the mask since I only sleep on my side. Although, if I couldn't sleep in my recliner, I would try it in bed. I plan to take it with me on vacation since the silky masks that put pressure on my eyes aren't comfortable anymore. the strap on the mask is sturdy and easy to adjust with the velcro. The mask doesn't slip.
