Great for small space
Disclaimer: We've only used this item once. However, I can already tell we will like it. Husband and I are empty-nesters. At our old place, where our kids grew up, we installed a fire pit with landscape block that we used reasonably frequently. The upside was it was big and easy to use. The downside was it was a pain to clean and changing winds meant smoke in your face.On first use we're already impressed by this little guy. As you may be able to tell from our photo, the wood we purchased at the grocery store does stick out of the top a bit. We loaded it with shreds from our shredder, a few twigs, and 3 pieces of wood from that bundle. Used fireplace matches to light, and you'll need something similar if you get one of these as you cannot hold a lighter down inside without burning your hand or arm.The airflow within the unit is excellent and our fire was humming along in no time. I wouldn't say it's 100% smokeless, but the design does minimize the amount of smoke generated. When winds would shift and blow in our face, we could feel the heat but didn't have a face full of smoke. It was just the 2 of us, but if necessary we could fit a total of 4 or 5 around it without trouble. This isn't a bonfire party unit.Cleanup is really easy and with the included carrying case it's easy to pack up and put away.If such a thing were available, a short plant stand or something similar would make it even nicer because this guy is pretty short. All in all we are pleased and know we will enjoy it for awhile.

Solo stove is the best
The media could not be loaded. We loved using our solo stove so much when camping, we bought another for home. Just make sure your logs fit so they are below the rim. We can even use it on windy nights!

This stove will cut down your wood consumption a lot.
I got this for camping. It allows us to build the fire exactly where we want it. Once you stack the wood with kindling and start the fire it gets quite hot within a very short time. It gets hot enough that it will burn wood that is not completely dry. It doesn’t use much wood as it is not a large stove. After about two hours we generally go to bed and it will burn the wood completely so there is just some ash to remove in the morning. If you purchase wood you will probably need to cut it in half for it to fit in the stove. This is no problem as we carry a lithium battery powered chain saw that works well. The saw also minimizes the amount of wood that we need to buy as we just cut downed trees limbs. We clean it with paper towels and put it in the bag for traveling.I have ordered the cover so we can snuff out the fire when we are ready to go to bed. This will further reduce our wood consumption.

Solo Stove products rock!
I now have every model Solo Stove manufactures apart from the Yukon and that will join the family once I save up for it. I also have the firesteels which are amazing. Great products, well made and work as described. Lighting a fire is a cinch and once these things get burning, they are an inferno. My Bonfire goes through logs as if they were paper so be prepared to be prepared! The Ranger is now our traveling companion for camping. Great products from a solid company with a lifetime warranty. What more can one ask for? They’re not inexpensive but I’ve been trough more than my share of lower priced “fire pits” which only tie out to be money burning pits. They rust out within a season or two at best, even with proper care. These are heavy gauge stainless and our Bonfire stays out year long at our cabin in the Catskills with no issues..

Miss a part
I am happy with the Ranger. The box it came in was definitely damaged but the stove is in perfect shape. It says it comes with the bag to store it and carry it but there is no bag. I bought several accessories but I don't want to pay for a bag that should have come with it. I am not sure who to contact Amazon or Solo.

Beautiful
I have not used this yet, but I will say that it is beautiful. I have been wanting one of these for a while now. I got it a few days ago and put it out back and just looked at it. I can't wait to have a fire in this thing. It is so sleek and simple. It is lightweight and easy to move around. Instructions say to store it when not in use. I plan to keep it covered or even put it in my garage the next day after using it to prolong the life of it. These things aren't cheap so I plan to baby it when I am not burning wood in it. This thing looks so cool, I just want to stare at it.

Great camp stove
These stoves are fabulous. They come with a very nice, sturdy carrying bag so they are easy to transport. They put off an amazing amount of heat and are virtually smokeless. Incredible engineering. I bought the smallest one, planning to use wood pellets because I am unable to cut firewood into small pieces. I ended up returning mine only because Customer Support recommended I NOT use wood pellets — only hardwood. But I highly recommend the Solo to anyone who can cut firewood. I bought the smallest one but friends have the larger ones and they can accommodate regular sized firewood.
