Batman Vs Superman Dawn of Justice [Blu-ray]

Batman vs. Superman was in part a sequel to Man of Steel and in part, a setup for The Justice League movie, introducing the new DCEU versions of Batman (played by Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (played by Gal Gadot), and via short cameos the new Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Mamoa), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). It also brought back Amy Adams in her role as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and brought in Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.I won't go into too much of the storyline so as not to spoil it for the few who may not have seen the movie, but it essentially dovetails off the end of Man of Steel in which Metropolis was destroyed in the climactic fight between Superman and Zod. We see that battle from the perspective of Bruce Wayne who is trying to get to Wayne Financial to get his employees out of the building. This sets up his distrust of Superman, and then there is an 18-month time jump and Batman is becoming more violent which gets him on Superman's radar, and with Lex orchestrating things in the background, the two end up in battle, until they have to team up.The movie gets ragged on a lot, undeservedly so, in my opinion. It is clearly setting up a larger story and has to be seen as a piece in a multi-movie arc. While I do think it would have been better for DC to follow the Marvel format of setting up the characters in individual movies before bringing them together, so there would not have been so many logic jumps as this movie took, the plot does make sense (especially after you see it a couple of times), and the darker tone that Snyder used for the movie (really all the movies in his "Snyderverse" worked well. And, of course, when Joss Whedon attempted to shoehorn his brand of humor that worked in the MCU into the DCEU, it totally fell flat and was universally rejected.For those who get the blu-ray set, there are two blu-ray discs. One with the theatrical cut of the movie and the bonus features, and one with the Ultimate Edition of the movie that adds about 30 additional minutes to the run time. Some of the scenes are kind of useless, but others really flesh out how much Lex had put the events of the movie into motion. The extras included several behind-the-scenes and making-of features, character profiles for Wonder Woman and Batman, and shorter ones on the characters of Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. All, in all, there is about two hours' worth of extras, so those who like watching the bonus material will be satisfied.Also of note, there is a 4k version of the Ultimate Edition of the movie that does not include the theatrical version or any of the blu-ray extras, so even if you double-dip for that one, you probably want to hold on to this version unless you are only interested in the movie and just want the Ultimate Edition of the movie. The 4k version just has the movie itself and a commentary track that Snyder made just for the 4k restoration as the only extra. In his commentary, he does spoil his version of Justice League (identifying Martian Manhunter, for example) and generally discusses his vision for where the movies would have gone had he stayed on. The movie looks and sounds great (especially the restored IMAX scenes) in 4k UHD, and is, in my opinion, worth the double-dip.Overall, the movie is very good. Dark, but good, and it makes a lot of sense. I do think it could have used a better setup through a stand-alone Batman movie first to establish this version of Batman, and what turned him into the more jaded version of the character. I also think this movie would have benefitted from DC releasing the stand-alone Wonder Woman movie first to set her backstory. However, I do think that her extended cameo in this movie worked and was one of the reasons that the Wonder Woman movie did so well at the box office because viewers liked the taste of the character in this movie. But, despite the reputation it has as a bad movie, it is not. Affleck did a great job as an older, more jaded Batman, and I liked the idea of Batman trying to figure out how to stop an unstoppable alien. By now, however, the movie has been out long enough that people have their opinion of it. If you have not seen it, I would definitely give it a chance because it is not nearly as bad as some would have you believe.

I admit that I bought this movie purely because I was curious.Batman and Superman as enemies? That premise seemed, at first, outrageous. How, I wondered, could these two "good guys" wind up being enemies? What justification could there be for casting them as such?Then I watched the movie and, lo and behold, I got it. Not only did it make sense to me, I also found it especially relevant to today's world where fear of "the other" (whoever that "other" may be) is such a central theme of political campaigns and, in fact, daily life. Superman is the ultimate "other" in this instance; not just an alien, but a powerful one at that. Batman is, despite his wealth, the prototypical American who conveniently sets aside his own failings while adopting a sense of moral superiority with respect to the actions of others. As an allegory to the world we currently live in, I think this film is brilliant.It is more than that, however, for it is a film that also gives us hope on two different levels.First, it shows that people of different backgrounds - an alien and an American in this case - can put aside their differences and unite in order to make the world a better, safer place.Second, it highlights the fact that women - Diana Prince and Lois Lane - are equal to men: Just as smart, just as willing to shoulder any burden to make the world better, and just as courageous in the face of danger.(I know, some people will pooh-pooh the idea that women can handle themselves in combat situations. In my defense, I would point to the examples of women demonstrating exceptional bravery on the front lines in Afghanistan and Iraq. Their actions more than prove my point. Want more examples? Cast your eyes back to World War II and the Soviet "Night Witches" who scared hell out of the Germans on the Eastern Front or British Special Operations Executive women like Nancy Wake, who once killed an SS soldier in hand-to-hand combat.)That said, I can understand why so many "purists" didn't like this film. It does, after all, paint both Batman and Superman somewhat differently than most fans of these two superheroes are used to seeing them portrayed.I, however, don't agree with the purists for a couple of reasons including the fact that both the Superman and Batman characters have undergone many, many changes since they were first created. I'm old enough to remember, for example, that Superman and Lois Lane were once married and had a child; that Batman fathered two children with two different women - and was not married to either of them - during his long comic book history. My point is that their characters have not remained static over the years, nor should they. As society changes (I was going to say "evolves" but I'm not sure we're evolving much these days) so must our myths and legends if they are to remain relevant.Additionally, let's be honest here and admit that we are not talking about rewriting history but, instead, are discussing a film based on comic book superheroes. Because that's so, I believe we have to give creative people leave to express themselves in the way they see fit just as we admire the people that created the originals.I thought the cast was admirable. I've never been a big Ben Affleck fan but I thought he made a fine Batman. Henry Cavill is no Christopher Reeves (but, then, who is?) but he makes a good Superman in this film. Amy Adams is very good as Lois Lane and, though he has taken a lot of heat from critics, I thought Jesse Eisenberg was very well cast as Lex Luthor. In the comic books, Luthor is terrifying not because he is physically imposing but because his madness combined with his genius makes him truly dangerous. Eisenberg, I thought, captured both Luthor's insanity and his intellectual brilliance very well. Gal Gadot is gorgeous and I thought did a very nice job as Wonder Woman. I'm looking forward to seeing how well she grows into the character.The cinematography is excellent as is the CGI and, though this is a long movie, I thought director Zack Snyder kept the film moving at a decent pace. The costuming is bold and the new Batmobile design is in keeping with the rest of the film's technical gadgetry.All in all, this is a bold interpretation of the Batman and Superman stories and, for my money, it works..

Not what I expected it to be, but I guess it was okay for me.

This release of Batman v Superman is easily the one to get when it comes to picture quality and sound quality, I’m glad they went back and fixed the picture and the hdr colors, not that the original release was bad, it’s just you can tell this release had more care put into it, it’s also nice to have the imax sequence put in there, however it is pretty disappointing that this release doesn’t have a nice slipcover to it or even special features besides an introduction and commentary from Zack Snyder. The behind the scenes features on the original release was pretty good and it would’ve been worth it to port them over to this release. So it is worth getting this version because it’s a much better presentation with the picture than the first version, but don’t get rid of the original version if you’re still holding on to it and you want to have special features.

Give this movie a try even though it’s highly controversial & bashed Superman/Batman movie because it’s actually very good & highly entertaining.Superman is more experienced in this sequel & Batman is a ruthless & seasoned vigilante. This absolutely Batman is scary & combat proficient.The ultimate edition opens 30 hours of extra story & it clears a lot of loopholes left out in theatrical release.Sound track is amazing & pacing for the most part is on the spot. Highly recommended. One of my favorite superhero movie.

Excelente Calidad de Video y Audio, rebasó mis espectativas. Nunca antes habia visto este corte de versión, son 30 min extras, pero que nos dan más parte del mundo y visión de Zack Snyder. Justamente funciona y complementa perfectamente su version de Justice League. Todo se explica más, tiene mayor profundidad e incrementa el Hype del mundo Zack Snyder. Si son fans, deben verla!

Steelbook: di pregiata fattura questa raffigura frontalmente la statua di Superman sotto alla quale è collocato Batman posizionato sopra detriti infuocati, il tutto su uno sfondo cittadino che va a comprendere anche il retro della Steelbook rendendola un immagine unica.Interiormente troviamo un immagine che va a riprendere sempre i detriti infuocati sui quali è posizionato Batman nella copertina, questa immagine è creata sotto forma di disegno perciò non è collocabile come immagine presa dal film.Per concludere il tutto è reso ancor più bello dalla copertina trasparente che completa questa fantastica Steelbook (vedi foto).Blu ray: sono compresi due dischi in questa edizione, la ultimate Edition (che comprende il film senza tagli dalla durata di ben tre ore) sopra il quale è raffigurato il volto della statua di Superman con in sfondo la città, e l’edizione classica (compresa di extra) dove è rappresentato Batman in solitaria. Entrambe le immagini rappresentate sui dischi prendono spunto dalla immagine in copertina della Steelbook.Film: Mettere Batman contro Superman è semplice solamente a parole, credo che questo film rispecchi in maniera molto “intelligente” lo scontro tra i due che al fine della trama non è nemmeno la parte più importante, nel film è presente anche Wonder Woman ma degna di lode sopra ogni cosa è l’interpretazione di Jesse Eisenberg in Lex Luthor.Extra : compresi solamente nella versione cinematografica del film sono di una durata approssimativa di circa due ore, molto ben dettagliati esamineranno i principali personaggi del film oltre a far visionare la creazione di oggetti iconici, come la batcaverna e la batmobile.La visione hd è nella norma.In conclusione è un si in tutto questa Steelbook, esteticamente bella da ogni punto di vista, contiene la versione ultimate del film della durata di tre ore circa e la versione cinematografica ricca di extra, per un film che non grida al miracolo ma che obbiettivamente è bello.

Due personaggi grandissimi a confronto, credibili, interpretati magistralmente in tutte le loro sfumature. Ottima caratterizzazione di tutti i personaggi, anche secondari. Credo che le critiche a questo film siano ingiuste, lo trovo eccellente da ogni punto di vista, dagli attori agli effetti speciali, dalla trama ai dialoghi, alla colonna sonora.DVD con possibilità di scegliere più lingue e sottotitoli.Lo consiglio!
