One with silver frames to mimic the first sunglasses I ever saw my dad wear as a Naval officer, and another with gold frames, with which to dress up at Halloween as Colonel Bill Kilgore, Robert Duvall's character in Apocalypse Now ("I love the smell of napalm in the morning"). After returning seven pairs from various sellers, I hit pay dirt with both the silver frames and the gold frames I purchased here. All previous purchases were way too big -- no matter what the listed dimensions -- and far too "tall" from the top of the lens to the bottom.These are dead-on representations of 1960's aviators: proportionate on the face and squared at the bottom. Their spring hinge arms are synonymous with quality sunglasses; they snap back to their original tightness and don't get stretched by the head. The polarized lenses offer great glare reduction, yet aren't so dark as to obscure detail.Note: If undecided between the silver frames with the gray lenses and the gold frames with the green lenses, I'll say that the green lenses offer a hair more darkness and will better hide your eyes from others, if that's what you're into. One with silver frames to mimic the first sunglasses I ever saw my dad wear as a Naval officer. And another with gold frames, with which to dress up at Halloween as Colonel Bill Kilgore, Robert Duvall's character in Apocalypse Now ("I love the smell of napalm in the morning"). After buying and returning literally seven pairs from various online sites, I finally hit absolute pay dirt with these silver frames with gray lenses - right of out my old man's midlife wardrobe. Overjoyed, I then satisfied my inner Kilgore by buying the gold frames too (they have green lenses).This review covers the silver frames with the gray lenses. They're a perfectly dead-on representation of 1960's military aviators, and for ridiculously great value (all my previous purchases led to sunglasses that were way too big, no matter what the listed dimensions, and in particular, far too "tall" from the top of the lens to the bottom - and this despite the fact my face is large!). These are proportionate on the face in every way. And the lenses are historically accurate: squared at the bottom, not too rounded. They look great, are polarized and do their job well but the first pair I ordered arrived with a loose and nearly broken nose piece. Amazon sent a replacement that was in perfect condition but as another reviewer had a similar issue, there may be a quality control or packaging issue somewhere along the line. Also disappointing is that the black container pictured is NOT a glasses case, but a thin cardboard box in the shape of a glasses case. I was fooled. All that is included is a cleaning cloth and a soft bag that does nothing to protect the glasses and may have been responsible for the broken first pair. You'll need to supply your own case.As much as these little things annoyed me, I'm so happy with the glasses themselves that I can't knock off any stars. If you don't have any spare cases lying around or can't handle possibly needing to have a replacement sent if you're unlucky like me, these could be a hassle.
