I'm glad they still make these because I've yet to find any other pen that writes so well. **Q: Is the in these pens waterproof when dry?** A: I just wrote a small note, let it dry, then ran it under the sink tap. It did not run, nor did it smear when I touched it. So I'm going to go with it: seems waterproof when dry. But I did not let it soak in water, the paper I used wouldn't have stood up to that. **Q: Is this the same ink as the erasable vpens from the uk?** A: It is not erasable ink. **Q: Do these write dark purple or lavender like the ones from two years ago?** A: The one I have writes dark purple. I bought it a few years ago. I compared my pen to the one shown here and it is different. My pen says, "pilot V ball extra fine" . Luckily I bought more of these pens and the new ones look exactly like the picture here. So since I had the old ones and new ones I did a color test. They are both exactly the same....dark! I love these pens and for some reason you can't find them in stores anymore. Me being a pen nerd I bought 5 boxes of these...so afraid they might be discontinued. My new favorite pen! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very good pens for handwriting *by J***E on August 6, 2017* update 22 Aug 2018. I a recent online article about best pens, this one wasn't mentioned. Obviously those folks made a mistake. These are the best pens. (end of update) I bought one of these at a local shop, did some extended writing with it, and compared to my other favorite pens. It's quite a good pen, and the ink dries rapidly which is a plus for us LEFT-HANDED WRITERS. If you have a good writing speed, like I do, you have probably experienced some pens that need a "pause" because of starvation at the tip. These pens have a generous supply, so the next step if you do a lot of writing is to also have a good notebook like a RHODIA whose pages are still designed for real ink. With these pens you can have a beautiful stroke, almost like a good fountain pen, and unlike many others, they don't leak in your pocket in hot weather. Only drawback is that the ink supply is a bit limited. Buy them by the dozen.
