A little cheaply designed but overall perfect color, size, and does the job. A good value.

The deice makes very realistic sound of a fireplace.

This thing is about the size of a half-eaten doughnut. I placed it in my old coal stove I have flickering LED bulbs in for a cozy dramatic effect. I hoped to settle down to a cozy evening with the wife and my ingenious newly-found device to bring some much-needed fire to our marriage. Instead, I receive a text saying the FedEx employee (have to be neutral and can't say "guy" or "gal") had left the package at our gate. Our lovely dog decided to rip into this package, which I carefully reviewed on our camera system. But, the dog had a bit of a moment of regret or illumination it would later seem. I arrived home to see my Fire Crackler sound system partially out of a chewed box, but alas it was still intact!!! I could still move forward with telling my wife to make us some hot chocolate so we could enjoy our faux heat device sound maker thingy. What happened next was very similar to how upset Sally was when Linus kept her in the pumpkin patch to see the Great Pumpkin when she learned she had be robbed of tricks or treats. I don't know if I'm more mad that I bought this piece of junk or more mad that I am admitting to it my fellow Amazonians that I bought this piece of junk. Anyway, after firing this baby up and sitting on the couch alone, even our dogs and cats hid out of fear for their lives.If you're looking for a rodent repellent, this bad boy is for you.If you're looking for a fire crackling sound maker, just pay your kids to rip paper or even your hard-earned money.

A couple years ago, we bought an electric fireplace insert for a tenant property. Worked well in Fall and Winter to give the look & feel of a wood or coal burning fireplace and the two ( 2 ) settings for the heater also helped. Didn't want to spring the extra $$$ for this 'crackler' at the time or God forbit the extra $ 60.00 it would have taken for a deluxe electric fireplace insert that had one built in. During recent upgrades, we decided to go for it. It works very well with the volume control in back and the remote. One big shock was just how SMALL it is. From the looks in the ad, we were expecting something that looked like an old-fashioned radio, that we would set upon the mantle, but this thing is TINY, lol. Still works, but I'm thinking that $ 30.00 + pricetag is a bit pricey. It does make the fireplace seem real-er-er now, tho', so...yeah, lol.

It does what is supposed to do...sounds like a crackling fire, so I shouldn't complain. It just seems very cheaply made and much too expensive for what it is.

I ordered two of these - one for my gas logs in our living room fireplace, and the second for the electric stove in our sunroom. I have to admit I had some hesitation about ordering after seeing some of the poor reviews. I am glad I did not listen to them. This little system is perfect! It works well even on the lowest volume in both rooms, and it sounds quite realistic. I can't help but wonder about some of the comments in the reviews, however. Several noted that the loop was very short, and that the sounds kept repeating themselves - frankly, if someone is listening to this THAT intently, perhaps they need something else to do! Other comments referred to the price, and complained that these were overpriced, but after looking at several other similar units, some of which were over $80, I was more than happy with what I paid for mine. In fact, I have another electric fireplace coming for my bedroom, and I have ordered another of these! My only suggestions for improving this would be 1) a remote would be wonderful; and 2) get rid of the tiny screw that holds the battery box closed!UPDATE: I have to add some additional praise for this seller. I ordered another for another electric fireplace/stove unit, and somehow FedEX managed to lose it. The seller contacted me in a matter of hours, and is sending me a replacement. Very much appreciated!

Bought this for our electric fireplace to replace a similar item that no longer worked. Adds a lot to the ambiance.

It’s ok certainly not worth the price, the loop is was way to short , hearing the same thing every 5 seconds and you can turn it down but , not far enough you still need to muffle it
