With 8 eyes, classic leather, yellow stitching and grooved sides, the 1460 carries the DNA of the original Doc Martens boot. The only key difference? A narrower design for women. Built to last, this women’s boot is forged using one of the finest methods of construction: utilizing a Goodyear welt and heat-sealing it to the sole. The 1460 is made with highly durable leather and sits on an AirWair sole, which is oil and fat resistant with good abrasion and slip resistance. Use Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam to protect the leather and keep your boots clean, soft and supple. Channel your fierce inner girl rocker with the 1460 boot from Dr. Martens. Its iconic leather upper is spiced up with vivid attitude while the thick lug sole puts that certain toughness in the silhouette. Lace up a perfect fit and hit the town like a rock star in this fun find. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); It all began near Munich, Germany in 1945 when Dr. Klaus Maertens injured his foot in a skiing accident in the Bavarian Alps. To make walking easier during the healing process, he designed a shoe with an air-cushioned sole. Using old rubber tires, he constructed soles that had air trapped within closed compartments. He showed his prototype to his engineer/inventor friend, Dr. Herbert Funck, and together they decided to develop and produce the shoes. Not only did the shoe solve the doctor's immediate problem, but it also started to sell well in Germany. By 1959 the two founders decided that they needed a company to produce and distribute the shoes, then called Dr. Maertens, in other parts of the world. At first, many manufacturers rejected the concept of an air cushioned sole as a short-lived gimmick. However, the R. Griggs Group, located in the village of Wollaston in England, decided to go along with the idea by creating the first work boot with the revolutionary sole. On the first of April 1960, the first cherry red eight-eyelet work boot was produced and named 1460 (1/4/60). To sell the brand name better in England, the name was anglicized to Dr. Martens. The range was branded AirWair and the rest is history. See more Review: Worth The Money every Time - Dr.Martens Shoes are the best. They fit my feet better than any other shoes that I owned or worn in the past. Doc's are the best shoes I've ever owned. It did not take long to break in these shoes but this varies from person to person. They say they are Women's shoes but these Docs are unisex from experience. They are a little bit tighter than the regular Docs but I prefer the tighter fit myself. You can't beat the price on these shoes and I'd easily recommend these to any friend. In short they are at a great price, fit great, are really comfortable and look great too. UPDATE: I've had them for a few months now and have worn them frequently. These shoes can be scuffed pretty easily near the toes but, it kind of adds character. Review: Still Breaking Them In - *****UPDATE: Oct 30, 2014: The shoes are now completely broken in and while I still get minimal blisters on the back of my ankle I have plenty of space in the shoe and could even wear thick socks with them. The pressure on the top of the foot is no more and the shoes are super comfortable to walk around in. If you can get past the first initial wears to break them in the shoes fit perfect and really mold to your feet with time. They are my go to shoes! *****UPDATE August 25,2014: After loosening up the shoes with newspaper and bottles I then wore two pairs of my thickest socks and wore them around the house for an hour or so. After I did that and tried them on I had no issue with pressure on the top of my foot.******** ***If your think you might have gotten the wrong size then wear them around the house for a couple of days to test them out and see if they are not your size or if they just need to be broken in.*** Okay...brace yourselves. I was eyeing these boots for nearly a year in my wish list and finally I took the plunge and bought them. I had researched and took my proper foot measurements to make sure that I am indeed a size 11 womens shoe. I was so excited to get them but had a difficult time getting them on for the first time...cue disappointment. I am stubborn/impatient so I kept them anyway and did research on the fit when broken in, the common areas that will be tight for this shoe, etc. I found that like myself, others had issues with the instep being particularly tight and while that is the only issue for my foot in this shoe I started to wonder if I had gotten the right size. However numerous blogs and reviews claim they are supposed to fit tight because this leather loosens and mold to your foot the more you wear them. (aka break these suckers in) Day 2 of the shoes showed no signs of the shoe fitting any better. I could wear my normal thin socks with them but doubling or wearing really thick socks hurt. I was really sad at the thought of having to return and buy them from the Dr. Martens site because this was such a good deal. But I literally just bought boots in an 11 that are really comfy so I gave it another go. I stuffed the bottoms with newspaper making sure to pack it really tightly for the instep because that was my biggest problem and to my surprise it worked! Day 2 the shoes weren't comfy but they weren't super tight either. Then that night instead of newspaper I took pill bottles from vitamins and stuck them in the instep area because someone had told me they used beer bottles to loosen that area. That so far had been the thing that really helped the shoes fit. My left foot was still a little tight but my right was about right. Which is when I knew that I had gotten the right size. They just need to be broken in. I was even debating taking them to a shoe repair shop to have them stretched a bit but then I got the pill bottle idea and that has worked for me. My normal shoe size is a womans 11 (standard width) but I've found I go up a size for payless' shoes because they hurt only to find myself swimming in a 12(standard width) once they are broken in. Which made me realize that I am an 11 (11 wides are even too big) My advice to you would be to measure your foot and use that as a guide. If your as stubborn as me and are determined to make them fit them just be patient. These shoes are made with a very tough unforgiving leather that will take time to break in. Of course you could just size up to avoid the whole issue but then they may be too big once they are broken in.

Favorite/Best Shoe EVER!
god my love for this shoe is unexplainable! so perfect, made all my clothes look like i put time into them. i will say when you do break in these shoes it will be hell to walk in! so try breaking them in at home walking around the house with it! my feet is wide so it broke in quicker about a week, usually breaking them in takes 1.5-5 weeks so be paient cause i promise you after breaking these babies in they are the most comfortable shoes ever! lastly these shoes fit true to size maybe a lil bigger so theres no need to go up 2 sizes if youre worried about it being to small. Other than that these are my favorite pair of shoes! Been wanting them for a long time and i finally got them and i must say without em i think id be lost thats how much i love them!

Seems great
I ordered from the amazon seller OutdoorEquipped, price was great (30 ish dollars less than the doc marten website). everything seems great, the box does not seem like an original (no label or doc martens stamp) but the shoes themselves appear to be authentic, and many others have vouched for this specific seller so I don't have any reason to believe differently. Boots are great quality for the price, they are definitely a bit of a pain to break in though.

a bit on the large side
It took a little bit to break them in and a bit on the large size I am a 10 1/2 actually but no half sizes offered so y feet move around a little in them. However they are a classic that is definitely coming back around so I'll keep them. need an all weather shoe and they fit the bill.

Love them
Ordered 9K because I am usually 11 (US). It feels a bit large in length, but actually I think half size smaller would have been too tight. This being said these are extremely comfortable right away. Have on count as everyone says, the boots need a break period, which I am solving by just wearing long socks to protect the calfs. This particular model in black smooth color is beautiful. Looks stunning with skinny jeans. It took me a while to decide which Dr. Martens model to order and the reasons I love this one is because the sole is the classic one and darker than other models. Also, the toe raise up a little and looks wonderful. The leather looks great regardless of it is authentic or synthetic. Highly recommended

Loved the boot
Loved the boot! Perfect color and style but runs large. I ordered a size 9 (my normal size) but it was 2 sizes larger.

They fit and feel wonderful!
Out of the box they fit perfect. Size 11 women's and I thought they might be tighter but they were perfect. The tops are stiff where you lace around ankles, but that will loosen up. I have a wider foot and they still fit perfect. I'm in love!! Can't wait till colder temps to wear them.
