Sikaflex is a brand of adhesives sealants and lubricants that is used in the automotive, aerospace, construction, electronics, medical industries for a variety of construction and repair tasks. Sikaflex has been on the market since the 1980s and has changed its product line many times. Currently, they produce a line of products called Sikaflex System. The System includes a high-performance adhesive for bonding dissimilar materials, a liquid coating for corrosion protection, a permanent adhesive for sealing and bonding metal surfaces, a fan adhesive for temporary bonding of dissimilar materials, a silicone-based sealant for flexible joints, and a compound that provides heat-resistant adhesive bonds. Sikaflex was founded in 1984 by two brothers from New Jersey who had been in the construction industry for years. They wanted to develop an adhesive that would last longer than standard adhesives and be able to be used on a variety of surfaces without being affected by chemicals or temperatures. They were able to do so by mixing ingredients with high levels of strength and resilience with other ingredients to create a strong yet flexible bond. They began manufacturing their own product at their house kitchen table before expanding their company in 1988.
