Interesting textiles
Very interesting collection of textiles. As a fiber person, I would have liked more information on the process of creating them. For a non-fiber person, the information was probably sufficient.

A fun read as well as rich
First known (in the book world) for her contributions to brain injury literature, it is a delight to see that Deb Brandon is just plain a great writer, regardless of the subject. Threads Around the World is the most readable and enjoyable book I have seen covering that wide area of "textiles from everywhere". Not a cookie-cutter approach, each story has its own slant, its own reason, its own surprises. I, for one, had never heard of fish printing, and Deb's line, "Fish printing is not for the squeamish," might be worth the book right there. The story cloths produced in SE Asia have a basis in war sort of like arpilleras from Chile, but not quite. Hose, or socks, from Scotland - do they match the wearer's kilts? And what IS he wearing underneath the kilt? These are personal stories, not academic or dry descriptions of techniques. It makes for good conversational fodder for unsuspecting cocktail party guests. Definitely recommended.

An informative and beautiful book
This is a book filled with wonderful photos of textile treasures, and their makers, from around the world. Written by a hand weaver who is obviously fascinated by weaving and textiles, and very knowledgeable too.
