Nice little gadget that complements the bigger model of the same
I bought this specifically to do one type of dry embossing called "Parchamore Stencil Set Butterfly" made for the mini shape boss that utilizes vellum. It is not just dry embossing but also incorporated a 3rd sheet in the set that allows you to partially prick the vellum. When you dry emboss vellum it makes a interesting whitish mark and the dots you prick add a nice texture. you can purchase all through Amazon.com. You also can buy (it comes with one free one inside)regular stencils for the mini that you can use card stock with and those just dry emboss as usual. The instructions that came in it were very explanatory even if you had never used the bigger shape boss or even never dry embossed before so I am not sure what the other reviewer experienced.The two cons on this product: there are not enough different stencils(there are only 3 of the Parchamore type I have been able to find) to purchase and secondly it can be hard on the hands as there is not much place to rest you hand and it is to thick to rest on the table so you hand is left up in the air as you work.As to the price I agree it is too pricey here on amazon at this time. It was much cheaper when I purchased mine. However please don't give a good product a low star because you felt you were gouged, take that up with Amazon. There seems to be a trend lately where the prices here have gone up out of all proportion on many items.

not what I thought it would be
This product is not what I thought it would be. I would even go on you tube for instructions but they are not in english so I can;t understand what she is saying. I will continue to work with it. So I am not giving up. AND YOUR PRICES are way to high after I bought this mini shape boss and I found 2 other sites that sold it for way less. I thought your prices were suppose to be good. Well, not on this one. Come on guys you make a lot more money then we do. Start looking around and lower your prices.Thank you

This is wonderful especially for doing note cards. I don't have to mess w/the full size version. Works easily & smooth.

enjoyable but wish got larger option
This MAGIC IDEA to make your cards or stationary more Special .Makes look like those expensive cards etc.You can choose to expand with more sheets of your own choice. The ONLY DOWN for me is I WISH I HAD GONE FOR THE BIGGER MODEL.I got this via Amazon.co.uk.

Friskars Mini Shapeboss
This arrived well within the stated delivery time.I found this was fairly straightforward to use but you are very limited on the stencils you can use. The instructions are very brief. Having said that I did succeed in completing the two stencils which were included and they are almost good enough to send the next attempt will be better.
